ABSTRACT

A pistol adapted to provide selective double action is

described. The pistol comprises a, slide mounted on a

the low position of the barrel reduces the effect of re

drop barrel chamber to strike the ?xed ?ring pin while

the barrel is still in its rearwardly moving direction. In
the preferred form of the invention a spring driven
actuator sleeve surrounding the barrel interiorly of a
receiver tube propels the barrel rearwardly such that
the cartridge is ignited and the bullet discharges from
the barrel prior to the seating of the barrel against a
breech plate that is integral with the gun frame. Gases
escaping and expanding from the cartridge are cap
tured by the barrel and actuator sleeve and cooperate
with the inertia created by the falling barrel to lock and
seal the barrel chamber against the breech plate. After
the ?ring sequence is completed with the bullet leaving
.the barrel the pressure drops to near zero and a second

spring pulls the barrel forward, the actuator sleeve

ABSTRACT
A handgun of the drop barrel type has an over-length
?ring pin coupled with a pile-driving barrel action
that permits the ?ring of ri?e load cartridges. A micro

tridge and a specially con?gured ?ring pin is also dis

closed to aid in the ejection of a spent cartridge. A
second form of the handgun has a barrel that is hand
actuated as opposed to a normal trigger assembly and a
third form of the invention has a trigger operated ac
tion but does not provide for the utilization of the gases

from the discharged cartridge in recocking the ?rearm.

ABSTRACT

A pistol has a trigger 18 pivotal between a forward rest

and a rearward depressed condition. It has a ?ring pin
assembly 60 incorporating a ?ring pin 68 and a trans
verse nose 74. The assembly 60 is translational parallel
to a barrel. When in rearward, cocked condition as

illustrated. a ?ring pin 76 is compressed to propel it

forward when released. A transmission member 50 is

pivoted at a fore end to the trigger 18 and is guided for

displacement along a cocking path. The nose 74 extends

into the cocking path. Depression of the trigger dis

places the member 50 along the cocking path. The
member 50 abuts the nose 74 and cocks the assembly 60.

The invention provides a pivot member 64 which hooks

onto the member 50 and de?ects it out of its cocking
path to release the nose when the assembly 60 is cocked.
A resetting formation 96 is provided on a movable slide
14 to reverse pivot the pivot member 64 to disengage it
from the member 50 when a cartridge has been ?red.

ABSTRACT
A machine pistol with means for retarding blowback of
the slide assembly. The device has both right hand and
left hand stocks to enable the weapon to be ?red from a

comfortable visual sighting position at eye level with

assembly includes a bolt that carries the ?ring pin, ex
tractor and ejector and that reciprocates relative to the
receiver and barrel, and a tubular cylindrical muzzle
sleeve removably connected to the forward end of the
bolt and that ?ts coaxially around the barrel. A coaxial
helical spring ?ts between the barrel and muzzle sleeve
to urge the muzzle sleeve (and bolt) to the forward

Automatic and semi-automatic ?rearms of remarkably

reduced mass yet capable of long-range accuracy because of
unique recoil reduction are characterized by (A) a temporary
combination of a barrel, an integral breech and a separable
chamber that in operation of the ?rearm is moved by a

compressed spring distally before and While a chambered

cartridge is ?red, (B) run-out of such temporary operative

combination diminishes ?rearm recoil, (C) recoil of the

temporary operative combination recompresses the spring

and (D) the separable chamber is loaded With a round While

spatially separated from the breech and barrel.
