There is another sky,

Ever serene and fair,
And there is another sunshine,
Though it be darkness there;
Never mind faded forests, Austin,
Never mind silent fields Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green;
Here is a brighter garden,
Where not a frost has been;
In its unfading flowers
I hear the bright bee hum:
Prithee, my brother,
Into my garden come!

Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830, in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA.

Emily Dickinson wrote There is Another Sky to convince her brother,

Austin (mentioned in the poem) to come home Amherst, MA. The setting
took place in Massachusetts, where Austin works at (Boston, MA). I hear the
bumble bee hum: Prithee my brother, into my garden! is a personification used
by the poet to emphasize how deeply she wanted her brother to come home.
What I mainly love about the poem is the way Dickinson tries convince her
brother to come back to Amherst: by portraying the beauty of their home. Emily
Dickinson portrays the serene features of their home (Amherst) by comparing it
with the dark and gloomy life of Boston:
Never mind faded forests, Austin
Never mind silent fields Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green;

As a Malaysian who will be studying in the United States, I admire every

word Emily Dickson use to picture features of Amherst and Boston I want to
know what it feels like being over there. The poem There is Another Sky
expresses Emily Dicksons thoughts of how her life may be dark and dismal,
but there is another life on the other side full of luminous skies. I can relate
There is Another Sky with my life as a new college student who is trying to
cope with hardships over here. I get worried when I have to separate myself
from my parent for a long period. I get frustrated when new people do not get
along with me here. I get depressed when I did not get my desired grades
Adding my parent having high expectations on me. However, Emily Dickson
reminds me one thing that I always forgot: There is always Another Sky. She
made me believe that there are good reasons belies this contravention. I highly
recommend this poem to any of those who lost their motivations in life, because
I personally think that the poem There is Another Sky is about having faith in
hope.

have faith that one day all of my hardships here will be worth the pay.
