Job Summary
Reporting to the Store Manager the Assistant Manager is responsible for facilitating the
efficient daily operations of the ReStore and the sale of used and surplus home dcor
and building to the general public. The Assistant Manager helps in the promotion of the
long-term growth and operation of the ReStore and generation of surplus funding to
support Habitat for Humanity building initiatives. Unique to other Retail operations, the
Assistant Manager is also responsible for creating both a customer and a volunteer
experience, as these elements are critical to the operations from a resources
perspective, both dollar and human resources.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Ensures all sales and donation receiving activities operate efficiently and
productively
Provides superior customer service

Supervises the volunteer workforce and supports management of paid staff as


directed by the Store Manager

Offers a fulfilling volunteer experience through providing learning opportunities and


acknowledging all contributions of time, no matter how lengthy or minimal.

Responsible for periodically opening and closing the store

Responsible for accurate cash handling at the till

Comply with all policies and procedures

Qualifications
Education and Experience

3 -5 years of experience in retail, home dcor or building materials is required


Post-secondary education is an asset
Forklift and First Aid certification is a must
A valid driver's license and clean driving record is a must.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a collected and pleasant
composure promoting an approachable and pleasant work and retail space.
Appropriate understanding and effective assistance in the management of different
work forces to achieve maximum efficiency.
Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
Must be able to handle tasks that require physical strength and endurance, such as
heavy lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
Strong capacity to multi-task.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, teambuilding skills are a must.
Detail oriented, with good verbal and written communication skills.
Good dispute and conflict resolution skills.
