Course Information

1. The course will be graded as follows:

Quizzes: 30%
Midterm: 35%
Final: 35%

Intangibles (class participation, office hour discussions, etc.)

can significantly improve your grade.

2. Attendance is required. A student is allowed 2 absences per

semester. Each absence after the allowed two will result in a
deduction of 1% from the final grade to a maximum deduction of 10%.
The only excused absences are illness or injury that prevent school
attendance (must be documented by a doctor’s note that clearly states
that the student could not attend class on the dates of his/her
absence), religious holidays, and a school sponsored athletic event
(must be documented by a note from your coach). If you are not in the
classroom when attendance is taken you will be counted as absent.

3. Exams and quizzes cannot be made up. The only exception is a

medical emergency or accident (with doctor’s note) that prevents
attendance for the exam or quiz date.

4. This syllabus is subject to revision. Changes will be announced in

class. Students are responsible for such revisions even if they are
not in attendance at the time of the announcement.

5. Plagiarism will result in a grade of “F” for the course and a

report on your record. Plagiarism will be defined during the first
day of class.
