CHAPTER TWO

PRAISE IS TO ALLAH, THE CHERISHER AND SUSTAINER OF THE WORLDS

SECTION ONE

PRAISE IS TO ALLAH

Saying implies following:-

1. Declaring that praise of any nature and in any context owes its legitimacy to Allah
and Allah alone.
2. Admitting without any uncertainties that all that is there in the heavens, on the earth
and in between them belongs to Allah Almighty.
3. Confirming with absolute conviction that all gains are from Allah and all losses are
due to own misdoings.
4. Expression of happiness and contentment of the highest order in whatever state one
may be at the moment.
5. Displaying willing subordination and complete submission in all matters to Allah
Almighty without any discontent, fear or sorrow.
6. Reposing complete confidence with absolute satisfaction that Allah’s handling of all
matters and at all times is of the perfectly good order in all walks of one’s life.
7. Making it known to all that praise is prelude to establishing a gainful communication
with everyone in this life more so with Allah Almighty.

We now go over those verses contained in the Holly Qur’an that have a mention of
“Praise is to Allah”. This will help in grasping the meanings, the implications and the message
that our Creator desires for us in these words. To begin with we have the second verse of the
first Surah of the Qur’an that is the topic of this chapter. Eighteen more verses would be
studied before summarising the conclusions from these.
1

Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; 1:2

-----
2-4

Praise be to Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, and made the Darkness and the
Light. Yet those who reject Faith hold (others) as equal with their Guardian-Lord. He it is Who created you
76
from clay, and then decreed a stated term (for you). And there is in His Presence another determined term;
yet ye doubt within yourselves! And He is Allah in the heavens and on earth. He knoweth what ye hide,
and what ye reveal, and He knoweth the (recompense) which ye earn (by your deeds). 6:1-3

-----
5-6

Praise be to Allah, Who created (out of nothing) the heavens and the earth, Who made the
angels messengers with wings, two, or three, or four (pairs): He adds to Creation as He pleases: for Allah
has power over all things. What Allah out of His Mercy doth bestow on mankind there is none can
withhold: what He doth withhold, there is none can grant, apart from Him: and He is the Exalted in Power,
Full of Wisdom. 35:1-2
-----
7-8

Praise be to Allah, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no
Crookedness: (He hath made it) Straight (and Clear) in order that He may warn (the godless) of a terrible
Punishment from Him, and that He may give Glad Tidings to the Believers who work righteous deeds, that
they shall have a goodly Reward, 18:1-2
-----
9-10

Praise be to Allah, to Whom belong all things in the heavens and on earth: to Him be Praise in
the Hereafter: and He is Full of Wisdom, acquainted with all things. He knows all that goes into the earth,
and all that comes out thereof: all that comes down from the sky and all that ascends thereto and He is the
Most Merciful, the Oft-Forgiving. 34:1-2
-----
11

And He is Allah: there is no god but He. To Him be praise, at the first and at the last: for Him is
the Command, and to Him shall ye (all) be brought back. 28:70

-----
12
77
And if indeed thou ask them who it is that sends down rain from the sky, and gives life therewith
to the earth after its death, they will certainly reply, "Allah!" Say: "Praise be to Allah!" But most of them
understand not. 29:63

-----
13

If thou ask them, who it is that created the heavens and the earth, they will certainly say, "Allah."
Say: "Praise be to Allah." But most of them understand not. 31:25

-----
14-16

Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)!
And Peace on the Messengers! And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 37:180-182

-----
17-18

Then Praise be to Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord and Cherisher of all the
worlds! To Him be Glory throughout the heavens and the earth: and He is Exalted in Power, Full of
Wisdom! 45:36-37

-----
19

Whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare the Praises and Glory of Allah: to Him
belongs Dominion, and to Him belongs Praise: and He has power over all things. 64:1

1. Above mentioned nineteen verses [1:2; 6:1-3; 18:1-2; 28:70; 29:63; 31:25; 37:180-
182; 34:1-2; 35:1-2; 45:36-37; 64:1] communicate that all praise is for Allah as:
a. He created the heavens and the earth out of nothing and adds to the Creation
as He pleases. Created the humans from clay and decreed a stated tem for them all
and is to have another determined term in His presence for them.
b. He is the cherisher and sustainer of the worlds, the Most Merciful, the Oft-
Forgiving. Sends down rain, gives life and is The Maker of the darkness and the
light.
c. He sent the Qur’an containing plain warning of terrible punishment as well
as giving Glad Tidings.
d. He is the Lord of Honour and Power. Owns Dominion, Praise and Glory
and all that is in the heavens and on the earth. Is The Allah on the heavens and on the
78
earth, Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom and knowing everything. Has the
knowledge of all that the humans hide and reveal and earn through their deeds.
e. He made the angels as messengers with two, three or four paired wings
(enormous power).
2. It is only ironic and astonishing that the humans have doubts within their selves
about Allah after having known all that has been stated above.
*****
20-22

Before thee We sent (Messengers) to many nations, and We afflicted the nations with suffering
and adversity, that they might learn humility. When the suffering reached them from Us, why then did they
not learn humility? On the contrary their hearts became hardened, and Satan made their (sinful) acts seem
alluring to them. But when they forgot the warning they had received, We opened to them the gates of all
(good) things, until, in the midst of their enjoyment of Our gifts, on a sudden, We called them to account,
when lo! they were plunged in despair! Of the wrongdoers the last remnant was cut off. Praise be to Allah,
the Cherisher of the Worlds. 6:42-45

3. History of the past many a nations bears witness to the fact that Allah made them
suffer and also enjoy His gifts. The object of afflicting humans with suffering and
adversity is to make them learn humbleness so that their hearts soften to the
teachings of their Lord and they also learn to be affectionate to other humans. They
would thus avoid their losses in this world and the ultimate destruction in the life
hereafter. Those who do not pay attention to the warnings of good behaviour and
conduct conveyed by Allah’s messengers are provided in abundance and then left by
Allah to enjoy the good things of this world for some time. Such people are however
suddenly taken to account for their misdoings. This explains the object of leading life
with all the restraints and restrictions (that are in reality for the good of all humans)
imposed by religion in this life and also the concept of life hereafter? It also confirms
that any one who can grasp all this cannot but praise Allah. 6:42-45
*****
23-24

But those who believe and work righteousness - no burden do We place on any soul, but that
which it can bear - they will be Companions of the Garden, therein to dwell (for ever). And We shall
remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury - beneath them will be rivers flowing - and they shall
say: "Praise be to Allah, Who hath guided us to this (felicity): never could we have found guidance, had it
not been for the guidance of Allah: indeed it was the truth that the Messengers of our Lord brought unto
us." And they shall hear the cry: "Behold! the Garden before you! ye have been made its inheritors, for
your deeds (of righteousness)." 7:42-43
79
-----

25-26

Those who believe, and work righteousness, their Lord will guide them because of their Faith:
beneath them will flow rivers in Gardens of Bliss. (This will be) their cry therein: "Glory to Thee, O Allah!"
and "Peace" will be their greeting therein! and the close of their cry will be: "Praise be to Allah, the
Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds!" 10:9-10

-----
27-28

And they will say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has removed from us (all) sorrow: for our Lord is
indeed Oft-Forgiving ready to appreciate (service): "Who has, out of His Bounty, settled us in a Home that
will last: no toil nor sense of weariness shall touch us therein." 35:34-35

4. Those who believe and work righteousness will be Companions of the Gardens with
rivers flowing underneath and will dwell therein for ever. Peace will be their greeting
over there. Allah will remove from their hearts any sense of injury and sorrow. It is
such people who will utter “Glory to Thee” and “Praise is to Allah”. 7:42-43; 10; 9-
10; 35:34-35
*****
29

"Praise be to Allah. Who hath granted unto me in old age Isma'il and Isaac: for truly my Lord is
He, the Hearer of Prayer! 14:39
-----
30

We gave (in the past) knowledge to David and Solomon: and they both said: "Praise be to Allah,
Who has favoured us above many of His servants who believe!" 27:15

-----
31

And when thou hast embarked on the Ark - thou and those with thee - say: "Praise be to Allah,
Who has saved us from the people who do wrong." 23:28
80
5. It is the way of prophets of Allah to say “Praise is to Allah” on learning their prayers
having been granted, on being bestowed knowledge and on having been saved from
the people who do wrong. 14:39; 23:28; 27:15
*****

32

Allah sets forth the Parable (of two men: one) a slave under the dominion of another; he has no power of
any sort; and (the other) a man on whom We have bestowed goodly favours from Ourselves. And he
spends thereof (freely), privately and publicly: are the two equal? (By no means ;) praise be to Allah. But
most of them understand not. 16:75
-----
33

Allah puts forth a Parable - a man belonging to many partners at variance with each other, and a
man belonging entirely to one master: are those two equal in comparison? - Praise be to Allah! but most of
them have no knowledge. 39:29

6. Those belonging entirely to one master and bestowed with Allah’s favours, enjoying
the privilege of spending that their Allah has given them openly and also secretly,
commit to saying “Praise is to Allah”. 16:75; 39:29
*****
34

Say: "Praise be to Allah, Who begets no son, and has no partner in (His) dominion: nor (needs)
He any to protect Him from humiliation: yea, Magnify Him for His greatness and glory!" 17:111

-----
35

Say: Praise be to Allah, and Peace on His servants whom He has chosen (for His Message).
(Who) is better? Allah or the false gods they associate (with Him)? 27:59

-----
36

And say: "Praise be to Allah, Who will soon show you His Signs, so that ye shall know them";
and thy Lord is not unmindful of all that ye do. 27:93
81
7. Those who understand the greatness and glory of Allah say, “Praise is to Allah”.
17:111; 27:59; 27:93
*****

37-38

They will say: “Praise be to Allah, Who has truly fulfilled His promise to us, and has given us
(this) land in heritage: we can dwell in the Garden as we will: how excellent a reward for those who work
(righteousness)!” And thou wilt see the angels surrounding the Throne (Divine) on all sides, singing Glory
and Praise to their Lord. The Decision between them (at Judgment) will be in (perfect) justice, and the cry
(on all sides) will be, “Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!” 39:74-75

-----
39

He is the Living (One): there is no god but He: call upon Him, giving Him sincere devotion.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds! 40:65

8. Prayers to Allah must begin with His Praise. Those rewarded in the life hereafter
with the living in the Gardens and the angels surrounding the Throne will repeat
Praise to Allah. 39:74-75; 40:65

SUMMARY

1. All praise is for Allah as He is: [1:2; 6:1-3; 18:1-2; 28:70; 29:63; 31:25; 37:180-182;
34:1-2; 35:1-2; 45:36-37; 64:1]
a. The cherisher and sustainer of the worlds and to Him belong all that is in
the heavens and on earth. There is no god but He Who created heavens and the
earth out of nothing and He adds to the Creation as He pleases.
b. The Maker of the darkness and the light. The one, who created the humans
from clay, decreed a stated tem for them and is to have another determined term in
His presence for all of them. The one having knowledge of all that the humans
hide and reveal, and He also has the knowledge of what the humans earn through
their deeds.
c. The Allah on the heavens and on the earth, Exalted in Power, Full of
Wisdom, the Most Merciful, the Oft-Forgiving, sends down rain and gives life.
The Lord of Honour and Power, to Him belongs Dominion and to Him belongs
Praise and Glory.
d. The creator of angels as messengers with two, three or four paired wings
(having tremendous power to move about).
e. The One Who revealed the Book allowing no crookedness in it that warns
of terrible punishment as well as gives Glad Tidings to all humans.
82
2. It is the way of prophets of Allah to say “Praise is to Allah” on learning their prayers
having been granted, on being bestowed knowledge and on having been saved from
the people who do wrong. 14:39; 23:28; 27:15. Prayers to Allah must begin with His
Praise. Those rewarded with the living in the Gardens and also the angels
surrounding the Throne recite Praise to Allah. 39:74-75; 40:65
4. Those belonging entirely to one master and bestowed with Allah’s favours, enjoying
the privilege of spending that their Allah has given them both openly and also
secretly, commit to saying “Praise is to Allah”. 16:75; 39:29. Those who understand
the greatness and glory of Allah say, “Praise is to Allah”. 17:111; 27:59; 27:93
5. History of the past many a nations bears witness to the fact that Allah made them
suffer and also enjoy His gifts. The fate of wrongdoers is also very well known. Then
is there any reason that we do not believe in the fact that all praise is for Allah? It is
only ironic and astonishing that the humans have doubts within their selves about
Allah after having known all that has been stated in this summary. The object of
afflicting humans with suffering and adversity in this life is to make them learn
humbleness so that their hearts soften to the teachings of their Lord and they also
learn to be affectionate to other humans. They would thus avoid their losses in this
world and the ultimate destruction in the life hereafter. Those who do not pay
attention to the encouragements of good behaviour and good conduct given by
Allah’s messengers are provided in abundance in this world and then left by Allah to
enjoy the good things of this world for some time. Such people are, however, then
taken to account for their misdoings suddenly. This explains the object of leading life
with all the restraints and restrictions imposed by Allah in this life that are in reality
for our good. It also helps understanding the concept of life hereafter! 6:42-45

SECTION TWO

THE CHERISHER AND SUSTAINER OF THE WORLDS

Considerations and meditation on the title of this sub topic, while keeping in mind the
contents of Chapter One and also in the light of the Qura’nic verses detailed in the succeeding
pages, make known and imply the following:-
1. This universe in the backdrop of its vastness yet orderliness suggests having
a Cherisher and Sustainer who logically speaking must command praise
from His entire creature.
2. This universe has a number of dimensions both in time and in space and
The Cherisher and Sustainer of all these is ONE.
3. I (and also each human and all other creatures) owe my survival and
sustenance to that ONE who is the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds.
4. My ultimate reverence and respect cannot be but only for that ONE who is
the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds and it is only logical that so it
should be for every human being living in this world.
5. Human conduct amongst them and with all other creatures in this universe
must take a lead from that of the Sustainer and Cherisher of the Worlds to
whatever degree it can be accomplished.
83

Let us now have a detailed look at the Qura’nic verses communicated to us by Allah

Almighty through His Messenger Muhammad [PBUH] elaborating for some

more information. Here we once again begin with the second verse contained in the first
Surah of the Holy Qur’an:-
1

Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; 1:2

2-5

Recite to them the truth of the story of the two sons of Adam. Behold! they each presented a
sacrifice (to Allah): it was accepted from one, but not from the other. Said the latter: "Be sure I will slay
thee." "Surely," said the former, "Allah doth accept of the sacrifice of those who are righteous. "If thou dost
stretch thy hand against me, to slay me, it is not for me to stretch my hand against thee to slay thee: for I
do fear Allah, the Cherisher of the Worlds. "For me, I intend to let thee draw on thyself my sin as well as
thine, for thou wilt be among the Companions of the Fire, and that is the reward of those who do wrong."
The (selfish) soul of the other led him to the murder of his brother: he murdered him, and became (himself)
one of the lost ones. 5:27-30
-----
6-8

Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)!
And Peace on the Messengers! And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 37:182

-----
9-10

Then Praise be to Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord and Cherisher of all the
worlds! To Him be Glory throughout the heavens and the earth: and He is Exalted in Power, Full of
Wisdom! 45:36-37

9. Allah is the Cherisher and Sustainer of the heavens, the earth, all the Worlds, Exalted
in Power and Full of Wisdom. All humans must, therefore, praise Allah Almighty
and fear Him when inclined to do anything wrong like killing other humans. Allah
accepts sacrifices of the righteous and they do not give themselves up to incorrect
behaviour even when others are inclined to do wrong. Reward of those who wrong
others is hell fire and those who indulge in killing others become one of the lost
ones. 1:2; 5:27-30; 37:182
*****
84
15-19

As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, thou hast no part in them in the
least: their affair is with Allah: He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did. He that doeth good
shall have ten times as much to his credit: he that doeth evil shall only be recompensed according to his
evil: no wrong shall be done unto (any of) them. Say: "Verily, my Lord hath guided me to a Way that is
straight, a religion of right, the Path (trod) by Abraham the true in faith, and he (certainly) joined not gods
with Allah." Say: "Truly, my prayer and my service of sacrifice, my life and my death, are (all) for Allah, the
Cherisher of the Worlds; "No partner hath He: this am I commanded, and I am the first of those who bow to
His Will." 6:159-163

10. Believing in Allah Almighty and also accepting Him as the Cherisher of the Worlds
suggest following:- 6:159-163;
a. Bowing to His Will, conveyed by Allah’s messengers, without any
hesitation and accepting His total sovereignty in all matters especially those
connected with prayers, service of sacrifice and life and death.
b. Pursue obediently the religion of Abraham [PBUH] that can be summarised
in being true in faith and associating no partners with Allah.
c. Not contributing in any way towards dividing the religion into sects.
Separating from those who adamantly do so and handing over their affairs at the
disposal of Allah Almighty for the final accountability.
d. Accepting as part of belief that doing good deeds will be rewarded ten times
(at the least) by Allah Almighty and the evil recompensed according to the evil done
and that no one will suffer any wrong on this account.
*****
20-22

Your Guardian-Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, then He
established Himself on the Throne (of authority): He draweth the night as a veil O'er the day, each seeking
the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under
His Command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the
Worlds! Call on your Lord with humility and in private: for Allah loveth not those who trespass beyond
bounds. Do no mischief on the earth, after it hath been set in order, but call on Him with fear and longing
(in your hearts): for the Mercy of Allah is (always) near to those who do good. 7:54-56

-----
23-24
85

It is Allah Who has made for you the earth as a resting place, and the sky as a canopy, and has given
you shape - and made your shapes beautiful - and has provided for you Sustenance. Of things pure and
good; such is Allah your Lord, so Glory to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds! He is the Living (One): there is no
god but He: call upon Him, giving Him sincere devotion. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds! 40:64-65

-----
25-26

Say: "Is it that ye deny Him Who created the earth in two Days? and do ye join equals with Him? He
is the Lord of (all) the Worlds." He set on the (earth). Mountains standing firm, high above it, and bestowed
blessings on the earth, and measured therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, in four
Days, in accordance with (the needs of) those who seek (sustenance). 41:9-10

11. Allah is the Cherisher and the Sustainer of the Worlds:- 7:54-56; 40:64-65; 41:9-10
a. Because He is the creator of the heavens, the earth (as resting place for
humans), the sky (as a canopy) and also the entire lot of other celestial bodies which
have immense benefits for all humans.
b. As there could not be any one other than Allah to create humans in such a
beautiful and proportionate shape and provide with such pure and good sustenance to
those who seek it.
c. As He is having the full and the final control and authority in all matters
over all things in this universe.
d. As day and night seek each other in rapid succession and this aspect is
having unlimited benefits for all creatures in this universe.
e. Governance, therefore, is by all logic due to Allah Almighty.
f. No one has therefore any moral or legal right to resort to doing mischief on
the earth and trespass beyond the bounds conveyed by Allah through His
messengers.
g. So all must call on their Creator praising Him with sincere devotion, fear
and longing and also with humility and in private.

27-30
86
We sent Noah to his people. He said: "O my people! Worship Allah! ye have no other god but
Him. I fear for you the Punishment of a dreadful Day! The leaders of his people said: "Ah! we see thee
evidently wandering (in mind)." He said: "O my people! no wandering is there in my (mind): on the contrary
I am a messenger from the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds! "I but fulfil towards you the duties of my
Lord's mission: sincere is my advice to you, and I know from Allah something that ye know not. 7:59-62

-----
31-34

To the 'Ad people', (We sent) Hud, one of their (own) brethren: he said: "O my people! Worship
Allah! ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Allah)?" The leaders of the Unbelievers among his
people said: "Ah! we see thou art an imbecile!" and "We think thou art a liar!" He said: "O my people! I am
no imbecile, but (I am) a messenger from the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds! "I but fulfil towards you the
duties of my Lord's mission: I am to you a sincere and trustworthy adviser. 7:65-68

-----
35-37

Then after them We sent Moses with Our Signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they wrongfully
rejected them: so see what was the end of those who made mischief. Moses said: "O Pharaoh! I am a
messenger from the Lord of the Worlds. "One for whom it is right to say nothing but truth about Allah. Now
have I come unto you (people), from your Lord, with a Clear (Sign): so let the Children of Israel depart
along with me." 7:103-105

-----
38-42

Behold, their brother Noah said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?” I am to you a messenger
worthy of all trust: "So fear Allah, and obey me.” No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from
the Lord of the worlds: "So fear Allah, and obey me." 26:106-110

-----
43-59
87

And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. Behold, he said to his father and his
people: "What worship ye?" They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on
them." He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them), "Or do you good or harm?" They said: "Nay,
but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been
worshipping, "Ye and your fathers before you? "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher
of the Worlds; "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; "Who gives me food and drink, "And when I
am ill, it is He Who cures me; "Who will cause me to die, and then to live (again); "And Who, I hope, will
forgive me my faults on the Day of Judgment... "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the
righteous; "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); "Make me
one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 26:69-85

-----
60-61

Those who believe, and work righteousness, their Lord will guide them because of their Faith:
beneath them will flow rivers in Gardens of Bliss. (This will be) their cry therein: "Glory to Thee, O Allah!"
and "Peace" will be their greeting therein! and the close of their cry will be: "Praise be to Allah, the
Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds!" 10:9-10

12. Messengers of Allah coming to the humans in this world with a mission full of
sincere advice for us all are a manifestation of Allah being the Lord and Cherisher of
the Worlds. Humans have to ponder over this aspect and will ultimately learn that
this concept is only for their betterment not only in this world but also in the life
hereafter. Ultimate and the real success of humans is that they become eligible for
wisdom through belief in Allah, join the righteous and become one of the inheritors
of the Gardens of Bliss. The reward of belief in Allah and working righteousness in
this life is going to be the Gardens of Bliss in the life hereafter where Peace will
prevail all over. It is enough to make us understand the importance of peace in this
world as well. 7:59-62, 65-68, 103-105; 10:9-10; 26:69-85, 106-110

This Qur-an is not such as can be produced by other than Allah; on the contrary it is a
confirmation of (revelations) that went before it, and a fuller explanation of the Book - wherein there is no
doubt - from the Lord of the Worlds. Or do they say, "He forged it?" Say: "Bring then a Sura like unto it,
and call (to your aid) anyone you can besides Allah, if it be ye speak the truth!" 10:37-38

-----
64-65

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. Verily this is a Revelation from the
Lord of the worlds: 26:192

-----
66-67

(This is) the revelation of the Book in which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the Worlds. Or do
they say, "He has forged it?" Nay, it is the Truth from thy Lord, that thou mayest admonish a people to
whom no warner has come before thee: in order that they may receive guidance. 32:2-3

-----
68-71

That this is indeed a Qur-an most honourable, In a Book well-guarded, Which none shall touch
but those who are clean: A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. 56:80
-----
72-80

That this is verily the word of an honoured Messenger; It is not the word of a poet: little it is ye
believe! Nor is it the word of a soothsayer: little admonition it is ye receive. (This is) a Message sent down
from the Lord of the Worlds. And if the Messenger were to invent any sayings in Our name, We should
certainly seize him by his right hand, And We should certainly then cut off the artery of his heart: Nor could
any of you withhold him (from Our wrath). But verily this is a Message for the God-fearing. 69:40-48

-----
81-91
89

Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, Endued with Power, with rank before
the Lord of the Throne, With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. And (O people)! Your Companion is
not one possessed; And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. Neither doth he withhold
grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. Then whither go ye?
Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go
straight: But ye shall not will except as Allah wills; the Cherisher of the Worlds. 81:27-29

also contains nothing that can be doubted with any stretch of logical and reasonable
imagination. The mere fact that to date no one has been able to bring any Surah (or
even a verse) like it goes to prove beyond any doubt that it is the word of Allah
Almighty. Those who surrender their will to their Allah and also believe that He is
the Cherisher of the Worlds, qualify to learn the Message from the Qur’an of

SUMMARY

1. Allah is the Cherisher and the Sustainer of the Worlds:-

a. Because He is the creator of the earth (as resting place for humans), the sky
(as a canopy) and also the heavens with entire lot of other celestial bodies which
have immense benefits for all humans.
b. As day and night seek each other in rapid succession and this aspect is
having unlimited benefits for all creatures in this universe.
c. As there could not be any one other than Allah to create humans in such a
beautiful and proportionate shape and provide them with such pure and good
sustenance to those who seek it.
d. As He is having the full and the final control and authority in all matters
over all things in this universe.
e. Governance, therefore, is by all logic due to Allah Almighty. No one has
therefore any moral or legal right to resort to doing mischief on the earth and
trespass beyond the bounds conveyed by Allah through His messengers. So all
must call on their Creator praising Him with sincere devotion, fear and longing
and also with humility. They may do so openly and in private.
2. Believing in Allah Almighty and accepting Him as the Cherisher of the Worlds
suggests the following:-
a. Bowing to His Will, conveyed by His messengers, without any hesitation
and accepting His total sovereignty in all matters especially the ones connected
with prayers, service of sacrifice and life and death.
b. Pursue obediently the religion of Abraham [PBUH] that can be summarised
in being true in faith and not joining any gods with Allah or associating any
partners with Him.
c. Not contributing in any way towards dividing the religion into sects. One
must separate from those who adamantly indulge in so doing leaving their
affairs at the disposal of Allah Almighty for the final accountability.
d. Accepting as part of belief that doing good deeds will be rewarded (at the
least) ten times by Allah Almighty and the evil recompensed according to the
evil done and that no one will suffer any wrong on this account.
3. Messengers of Allah coming to the humans in this world with a mission full of
sincere advice for us and that too without asking for any reward from the humans is a
manifestation of Allah being the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between
them. He is also Cherisher of the Worlds. Humans have to ponder over this aspect
and having done so will ultimately learn that this concept is there for their betterment
not only in this world but also in the life hereafter. Those who do not pay attention to
the warnings of good behaviour and excellent conduct conveyed by Allah’s
messengers are provided in abundance in this life and then left to enjoy the same for
some time. Such people are ultimately taken to account for all that they have been
doing.

4. The decision between the unbelievers and those who feared their Lord will be in
perfect justice on the Day of Judgment when every one (including the angels) will be
singing with total conviction that all praise is to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds.
That day even the Evil One i.e. Satan accepts and also fears the Lord of the Worlds.
The followers of Satan, therefore, need to ponder over it and rethink of their relations
with Allah Almighty. It may be noted that even a ruler of a country of non believers
submits to the Lord of the Worlds when in the company of Allah’s Messenger. All
humans must fear Allah Almighty when inclined to doing anything wrong as for
example killing other humans. Allah accepts sacrifices of the righteous and they do
not give themselves up to incorrect behaviour even when others are inclined to do
wrong.
5. The Qur’an is a yet another proof of Allah being the Cherisher and Sustainer of the
Worlds as it confirms the revelations that were sent to the humans centuries ago and
also contains nothing that can be doubted with any stretch of logical and reasonable
imagination. The mere fact that to date no one has been able to bring any Surah (or
even a verse) like it goes to prove beyond any doubt that it is the Word of Allah
Almighty. Those who surrender their will to that of their Allah and also believe that
He is the Cherisher of the Worlds, qualify to learn the Message from the Qur’an of
remaining on the way that is straight.

COMBINED SUMMARY

1. All praise is for Allah as He is the Cherisher and the Sustainer of the Worlds and to
Him belong all that is in the heavens and on earth. There is no god but He Who
created heavens and the earth out of nothing and He adds to the Creation as He
pleases. He is the Maker of the darkness and the light. The one, who created the
humans from clay, decreed a stated tem for them and is to have another determined
term in His presence for all of them. He is the one having knowledge of all that the
humans hide and reveal and what they earn through their deeds. He is the Allah on
the heavens and on the earth, Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom, the Most Merciful,
the Oft-Forgiving, sends down rain and gives life, the Lord of Honour and Power, to
Him belongs Dominion and to Him belongs Praise and Glory. Allah is the creator of
angels as messengers who are having tremendous power to move about. He revealed
the Book allowing no crookedness in it that warns of terrible punishment as well as
gives Glad Tidings to all humans. He is the creator of the earth (as resting place for
humans), the sky (as a canopy) and also the heavens with entire lot of other celestial
bodies which have immense benefits for all humans. He is having the full and the
final control and authority in all matters over all things in this universe. He makes
day and night seek each other in rapid succession and this aspect is having unlimited
benefits for all creatures in this universe. He creates humans in such a beautiful and
proportionate shape and provides them with pure and good sustenance. Governance,
therefore, is by all logic due to Allah Almighty. No one, therefore has any moral or
legal right to resort to doing mischief on the earth and trespass beyond the bounds
conveyed by Allah through His messengers. So all must call on their Creator praising
Him with sincere devotion, fear and longing and also with humility. They may do so
openly and in private.

2. It is the way of prophets of Allah to say “Praise is to Allah” on learning their prayers
having been granted, on being bestowed knowledge and on having been saved from
the people who do wrong. Prayers to Allah must begin with His Praise. Those
rewarded with the living in the Gardens and also the angels surrounding the Throne
also recite Praise to Allah. Those who believe and work righteousness will be
93
Companions of the Gardens with rivers flowing underneath and will dwell therein
for ever. Peace will be their greeting over there. Allah will remove from their hearts
any sense of injury and sorrow. It is such people who will utter “Glory to Thee” and
“Praise is to Allah”. Those belonging entirely to one master and bestowed with
Allah’s favours, enjoying the privilege of spending that their Allah has given them
both openly and secretly, also commit to saying “Praise is to Allah”. Those who
understand the greatness and glory of Allah say, “Praise is to Allah”.

6. Believing in Allah Almighty and accepting Him as the Cherisher of the Worlds
suggests bowing to His Will, conveyed by His messengers, without any hesitation
and accepting His total sovereignty in all matters. It also implies pursuing obediently
the religion of Abraham [PBUH] that can be summarised in being true in faith and
not joining any gods with Allah or associating any partners with Him. It further
suggests not contributing in any way towards dividing the religion into sects. One
must separate from those who adamantly indulge in so doing leaving their affairs at
the disposal of Allah Almighty for the final accountability. Belief in Allah provides
that doing good deeds will be rewarded (at the least) ten times by Allah Almighty
and the evil recompensed according to the evil done and that no one will suffer any
wrong on this account.
7. Messengers of Allah coming to the humans in this world with a mission full of

the warnings of good behaviour and excellent conduct conveyed by Allah’s
messengers are provided in abundance in this life and then left to enjoy the same for
some time. Such people are ultimately taken to account for all that they have been
doing.
All humans must fear Allah Almighty when inclined to doing
anything wrong as for example killing other humans. Allah accepts sacrifices of the
righteous and they do not give themselves up to incorrect behaviour even when
others are inclined to do wrong.
