HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 8:00, 9:00 & 11:00A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Amos 7-9; Revelation 8
Monday, December 15
Acts 16:14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of
Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended
unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
Lord of Heaven and of the Harvest:
I want to find Lydia today!
She came through providential circumstances. She was a woman from
Thyatira, but she is in Macedonia the same time as Paul. Make providence the
handmaiden of your grace to lead me to people whose hearts you will open!
Grace was preparing her heart for blessing. She did not know Jesus, but
she was a Jewess seeking something true. I know a lot of people who have just
such a hunger for answers. They are homesick for a place theyve never been.
Help me use their questions as stepping-stones to knowing Jesus Christ as their
saving Lord.
She was willing to attend the place of preaching. You save a lot of people
who never attend your house, but if I can get them to come to church with me
then the likelihood is greater they will get saved!
The first outward evidence of salvation was obedience. Lydia was
baptized as soon as she believed. Obedience brings close communion with you
and the richest kind of fellowship.
Save __________ and __________. They cannot open their own blind
eyes. Even their prayers cannot do it. You must open their hearts Lord, and I
pray that you do! Open their heart through my witness. Open their heart through
the preaching at my church. You are their hearts master, because you are our
hearts maker. Put the key in the latch and open the door to admit yourself into
their life. Do this for the sake of the price you paid for them on the cross. Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING

Chronological Bible Reading: Micah 1-3; Revelation 11
Thursday, December 18
Matt. 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother
Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy
Ghost.

SHEPHERDS in the field abiding, tell us when the seraph bright

Greeted you with wondrous tiding, what you saw and heard that night.
We beheldit is no fableGod incarnate, King of bliss,
Swathed and cradled in a stable, and the angel strain was this:
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Choristers on high were singing Jesus and His virgin birth,
Heavenly bells the while a-ringing Peace, good will to men on earth.
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE

Chronological Bible Reading: Obadiah; Revelation 9
Tuesday, December 16

WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Jonah; Revelation 10
Wednesday, December 17

Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the
scriptures,

Hosea 12:6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on
thy God continually.

Holy Father:
I can open the scriptures to people when I witness, but I cannot open
their understanding to the scriptures by myself. Make me a fellow-laborer with
you in the first work, but in the second job I trust your Spirit alone. Give me
special ability to bring the Bible to peoples minds, but Lord only you can prepare
those minds to receive the Bible.

I can reach the ear; Lord, please instruct the heart!

I can deal with the letter; Lord, you must impart a taste for the truth!
Make me a scholar in the school of grace, and then unfold the mysteries of
salvation to people when I witness to them. I need a divine anointing to make
them see the invisible realities associated with eternal life.
I know a lot of people who are intelligent in earthly things, but ignorant of
eternal things. Their life shows it, and also suffers for it. Many times their
spouses and children and friends suffer as well. They may even know the letter of
your word, but they cannot see its living spirit. They have a veil on their hearts
that the eyes of their carnal reason cannot penetrate.
That was my case onceI was totally blind, but now I see. Truth was like
beauty in the night, a thing I allowed to go undetected and neglected. Had it not
been for the love of Jesus I would have remained ignorant. Open the eyes of my
lost friends understanding just like you did mine! Sunday School can teach us
what to believe, but only your Spirit can teach us how to believe it. I sit at your
feet today to pray for grace to make the gospel clear to the minds of the lost.
Make it so for Jesus sake. Amen.
FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY
Chronological Bible Reading: Micah 4-7; Revelation 12
Friday, December 19

Merciful Savior:
To turn unto the Lord means to yield myself obediently to your sway, to be
willing to do what you want, to think what you teach, and to be what you
command. My faith is nothing unless it brings an obedient mind with it! Willful
rebellion is always unbelief.
I want to see revival Lord, where men and women turn their whole life so it
is going toward God, growing to be more like Christ, communing closer with the
Holy Spirit, leading us to become like you, and dwelling where you are. For me to
believe and turn to God means to be delivered from my present evil sin. To be
without revival is to be without joy here, and absent hope of reward hereafter.
This is what I must aim for in all my attempts to influence others: revival!
Too many days Lord, I have tried to trim the branches of the tree of sin, yet
not lay the axe at its root. Help me by your Spirit to turn to you more completely
today. Then revival will bring not just a change in my outward conduct, but a
revolution in my heart.
I must be praying in the Holy Ghost. I must be depending on your power. I
must not believe in myself, and think about becoming a self-made person. I
want to believe in your power and become a Spirit-made man or woman. My
end and aim is revivalmake me more alive to it; make me feel it in the center.
I am too often wise in my ignorance and foolish with my wisdom. Help me
trust you today whole-heartedly for the things only you can win. I need a power
assisting me of which others are not aware. Give me this, for Jesus has purchased
it by his own wounds, and I ask for this in his precious name. Amen.

Acts 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of
the church unto God for him.
Holy Lord and Father:
Blessings come to the prayer of a dependent church. We do not dream
of being able to do for ourselves what needs to be done in our city. Revival is not
worth having unless we bring it down through prayer. So let us ask it from you.
Too often the temptation is to ask an evangelist in, or to ask a special
speaker, or to ask a consulting group, or to ask a committee. While we would
never object to soulwinning, or any plans for church growth, our main business is
to inquire of you. When we confess how our work is totally dependent on your
Spirit for success, then the blessing is worth having! If we ask you Lord, to
multiply us from your own strength, then you are glad to grant that request.
We need to think, and ask questions when we pray. We must plead with
God, ordering our arguments aright. It is good to ask why you withhold the
blessing! It is better to give strong reasons why we need it right now. We must
quote your own promises back to you, recounting our undeservedness, and our
great need, and then come right back to asking, inquiring, and pleading our case.
We pray for you Lord! Give us a heartbreak over sinners whose hearts will
not break. Give us painful anxiety over those who are not anxious for their souls.
May you make all the members of our church anxious inquirers. The way for
us to have seeking sinners is to become seeking saints. When we start to
seek your face, sinners will start to ask about the way to heaven with their face in
that direction. They will become repentant when we repent.
How few really believe in prayer. But you must always keep your own laws,
so you must hear our prayers. Give us a backbone of faith to pray! Amen.

SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS

Chronological Bible Reading: Nahum 4-7; Revelation 13
Saturday, December 20
Psa. 101:1 I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.
Great Lord and Judge:
If Psalm 100 was a song of praise, Psalm 101 is a song of practice! I never
praise you better than when I do those things that please you; things based on
both mercy and justice. Teach me to praise both, your love and your strictness,
the bitters and the sweets you mingle together in my experience of you, and my
walk with you. I admire your justice and goodness because such a song leads me
to important decisions about my personal conduct.
Everything you do in my life can properly become the theme of a song, but
mercy and justice have to temper my life. Help me bless you as much when
you correct me for sin as for the mercy when you forgive it. For there is as
much love in the strike of your hand as in the kisses of your mouth.
Im not sure what to be more grateful foryour comforts that cheer me, or
your afflictions that cleanse me. My souls worship and my sole worship has to
be in praising you. This is even more true when I reach the minor key, as below.
Psa. 102:2 Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine
ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.
Despite private woes and personal enemies, I look for your favor. My pain
is eased when I share my problems with you. The sweetest comfort is to have you
hear my complaint.
I can ask for an answer as soon as I want, but I cannot think you unwise if
you delay. I have permission to ask and pray, but not to demand or get angry.
Your goal is to make me seek you more. So make me a prevail-er in prayer by
persistence, perspective, and attitude. Then make my will bend to yours in the
response. Do this for Jesus sake. Amen!

resources.

TEAMWORD
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
