Unit 8:

Art and the Master Photographer

Research a photographer (end of semester grade: 100 points): In the Style of a Master
Photographer - Choose from photographers on page 1 of syllabus or any photographer from
the Artist Article list. Get approval if you want to research an artist not on the list.

Due Date: 1/20/2010. End of Semester is 1/22/2010. No work will be accepted after noon on
1/22/2010.

SHOOTING ASSIGNMENT:
 Shoot two images in the style of your chosen photographer.

Total number of photos required: 2 photos x 25 points each = 50 total

JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT (40 points)

 Personal Artist Statement/Reflection: At least 1 page double-spaced, Times


Roman, 12 point.
1. Briefly describe your chosen photographer’s body of work.
2. Discuss why you chose that photographer.
3. Describe how you recreated that photographer’s style.
4. What is the photographer’s style and how does that style add meaning to the
work?
5. What particular challenges did you have in shooting in the style of the master
photographer?
