The Brief
iWonder is an exciting new product, created to revolutionise the way
people interact with world-class BBC content. We designed a futurefacing identity to work across the online product and extend into print and
broadcast. - This is the summation statement by the design company Studio
Output
iWonder, essentially presents on-line content on a wide and diverse range
of topics from light-hearted and fun to sombre and challenging and
covers many different genres, from Science to Food.
The next phase of the development of iWonder is to extend the visual
styling into print and broadcast. In practice this will result in a series of 1
hour documentaries to be shown weekly on Tuesday evenings at 8.00pm
on BBC1 commencing in January 2015. These documentaries will be
supported by a monthly BBC iWonder publication (magazine) featuring the
content from the online site and the BBC broadcast.
You have been commission to present a pitch for this phase of the iWonder
development.

Maintaining the iWonder logotype as fundamental to your design solutions

you are required to produce
a range of design proposals to publicise, promote and realise the iWonder
venture into print and broadcast media.
Your solution needs to reflect contemporary, witty, intriguing styling, in
keeping with the diverse iWonder content. Whilst ensuring that each
element clearly communicates the individual content featured, the collective
solution must reflect a unified range styling. You are encouraged to
experiment with
non-literal imagery such as metaphors and analogy. Do you use illustration,
photography, creative typography, abstraction, symbolism? What colour
scheme will best work with the iWonder branding?
Specifically you are to produce a range of high-quality client presentation
visuals for the following:
4 Promotional posters for the new BBC iWonder series of documentaries
to be broadcast from January 2015. These could be adshells, billboards,
decaux posters
or whatever you feel to be the most appropriate device
2 Covers for the iWonder magazine to be published as support for the BBC
series
1 Double-page spread for the magazine featuring content from any of the
iWonder topics
