What is the concept of the "Principles" as shown on the website:

The Humanity needs a lot of changes that improve the quality of life and also with the objective
that people feel comfortable of being part of the society. For this reason the principles of the
"Peace and Justice Initiative" are related to how we treat each other.
These principles are thirteen and they teach the best manner to say what is in your heart,
trusting that your voice will be heard without interruptions. Suspend judgments and listen to
the other, and to ourselves, more fully. Simply the speed of modern life can cause violent
damage to the soul; thus we must apply this kind of principles all the time and there is no doubt
that I am going to use them personally.
2. Why does Valencia College invest in Peace Ambassadors and the Peace and Justice
Initiative?
Valencia College invests in the Peace and Justice Initiative because this is an excellent
foundation that promotes a positive environment on campus and within our community.
Furthermore, study this area contributes to lead better societies and better people and
Valencia College wants to be part of this movement.
On the other hand, Peace and Justice Studies is also an excellent opportunity for students
interested in a broad spectrum of careers, including but not limited to: education, law
enforcement, social services, community organizations, the Peace Corps, etc. This is something
that increase the university's quality, where the students grown positively rather than the
violence that exist in our world.

Sometimes there isn't a balance on the opportunities and benefits among the different
towns in United States, generating more poverty in some societies.
Organizations, Foundations and even the same community can impact in our societies
giving opportunities to people of different communities, to motivate them and also lead
them to evolve their life in a right way rather than living into the violence.
The poetry was used as a method to motivate the young people in Stockton that is a
town with high levels of murder and criminality.

2. Where do you feel there is a connection between city poets and changing a culture?
What does poetry do? I have no hesitation in replying that poetry is central to our culture, and
that it is capable of being the most powerful and transformative of the arts. It is, in its subtle
yet powerful way, a discipline for re-engaging with a world we take too much for granted.

There is no doubt that there is a connection between city poets and changing a culture. This
cultural movement is taking a significant effect on the Stockton's culture; because the
community is being motivated and this contribute in a positive change on the society. All the
city poets say what is inside their hearts and this fortify their ability to extend non-violence to
other and to themself. When we revoke the violence on the peoples heart, we are changing
the violence culture by one full of peace.
