Module 9

Dial Plan Fundamentals, The Line/Device

Approach, and Local Route Groups :: Tasks
Lab Instructions:
Prior to starting this lab, ensure that you have both read through the Voice Rack Rental Guide
before beginning this lab, so that you are fully aware of how all equipment works and is
accessed, and that you have loaded both the initial router/switch configs from INEs members
site, and that you have manually loaded the CUCM initial configs as described below.

Note
- Most Deep Dive lab scenarios require existing configuration before they can begin to be
configured. Also, most lab scenarios use different pre-configuration from other Deep Dive
labs. Therefore it is necessary to load the "Startup Configs" prior to beginning any of these lab
scenarios.
- To load your router and switch configs, first log into your INE.com Members account, then
navigate to the "Rack Rental" tab, and click on "Control Panel" >> "Click here to choose a
configuration to be loaded on your Voice Rack", then choose the appropriately named
selection for this module. This will only load your router and switch configs (pstn, r1, r2, r3,
sw1, sw2).
- To load your CUCM server initial configs, please log into the CUCM Admin WebUI, and use
the Bulk Administration tool to upload & import the appropriately named DD-ModXXCUCM-Startup.tar" file that was included in your Members account for this module. Here are
two brief demonstration videos on how to successfully accomplish this upload and import into
CUCM: Importing or Exporting Configurations in CSV file from CUCM (15 mins), and Fixing
Any Issues That May Arise With Importing CSS and CdPTP & CngPTPs (8 mins).

Route Plan Description and Overall Guidelines

Phones in US locations use a prefix code of 9 to access a PSTN trunk. Phones at the
NL location use a prefix code of 0 to access a PSTN trunk. Outside dial tone should
be provided as soon as the prefixed PSTN Trunk Code has been dialed for each site
respectively
Both the CorpHQ and Branch1 sites are located in the US and have the country code
of 1. CorpHQ is in the city of Seattle, WA and Branch1 is in Austin, TX.
Branch2 site is located in the Netherlands (NL) and has the country code of 31.
Branch2 is in the city of Amsterdam.
Users should be able to dial 911 from the US locations (CorpHQ and Branch1), and
112 from the Netherlands location (Branch2), to reach emergency services
Make sure the PSTN Trunk Code of 9 for US and "0" for NL are each stripped for all
calls before going to PSTN (except for the 9 in 911)
Local area (Subscriber) PSTN calls are placed from CorpHQ & Branch1 locations by
dialing 10-digit numbers, and BR2 by dialing 7-digit numbers
Long-distance (National) PSTN calls placed from the CorpHQ and Branch1 locations
are done so by dialing 11-digit numbers with the first number being the PSTN LD
access code 1, and at the Branch2 location by dialing 10 digit numbers with the first
number being the PSTN National access code of 0 (this is in addition to the PSTN
Trunk Code of 0 for Branch2)
International calls from the CorpHQ and Branch1 site should be prefixed using the
PSTN International access code of 011 along with the country code and variable
length number for the site/number you are trying to reach
International calls from the Branch2 site should be prefixed using the PSTN
International access code of 00 along with the country code and variable length
number for the site/number you are trying to reach (this is in addition to the PSTN
Trunk Code of 0 for Branch2)
You should allow for any phone users to be able to terminate interdigit timeout on
international number dialing using the # sign, in order to place the call immediately

Class of Service: Calling Search Spaces and Partitions

Using the Line/Device Approach to Calling Search Spaces, create two Classes of
Service (a.k.a. Class of Restriction or "CoR") for both IP Phone users in the US and NL
site(s)
One class should allow for Internal DN and Emergency dialing only and be labeled
something akin to "Restricted"
o Emergency dialing should allow for patterns that support both quick dialing
without a PSTN prefix code, as well as dialing with a PSTN prefix code
One class should allow for all of the above and the addition of Local, Long Distance
(National) and International dialing and be labeled something akin to "Unrestricted"
Phone 1 at every site should be given the Line/Device CoR for "Unrestricted"
Phone 2 at every site should be given the Line/Device CoR for "Restricted"

Gateways, Route Groups, Local Route Groups/Device Pools

Create three Route Groups - one for each site's existing gateway
Allow for Local dialing based on each Calling Party Phone's Device Pool
*NOTE: Gateways have already been provisioned for you at each site:
o Seattle, US CorpHQ is a SIP Trunk to the CorpHQ-R1 IOS GW
o Austin, US Branch1 is a H.323 GW to the Branch1-R2 IOS GW
o Amsterdam, NL Branch2 is a MGCP GW to the Branch2-R3 IOS GW

Route Lists and Standard Local Route Groups

Create Route Lists to allow dialing for all IP Phones from within any of the sites
For dialing from within the NL site, all calls/patterns should only ever route to the GW
local to that site
For dialing from within the US sites, calls/patterns for Emergency and Local dialing
should only ever route to the GW local to each calling party's site
For dialing from within the US sites, calls/patterns for Long Distance (National) and
International dialing should route primarily to the CorpHQ GW, and then secondarily to
the GW local to each calling party's site
You are only permitted to create a total of two Route Lists to satisfy the requirements
of this task

9.5 Digit Manipulation: Calling & Called Party Transformations and

IOS Dial Peers

9.6

Ensure that as calls leave for the PSTN, that they are formatted properly so that the
PSTN will route each call without error
For Called Party at all sites, the PSTN should see the DNIS digits as-dialed, with the
exception of the prefixed PSTN Trunk Code - that should be stripped prior to PSTN
routing
For Calling Party Numbers at all sites, the PSTN should see the calling party's number
as below:
o US site IP Phones should show their entire External Number Mask for all calls,
except for International calls where they should prefix their Country Code to
their External Number Mask
o NL site IP Phones should show 7 digits of their External Number Mask for
Emergency and Local Calls, their entire External Number Mask for National
calls (including preceding "0"), and for International calls they should first strip
the preceding "0" from their External Number Mask and then prefix their Country
Code
For the CorpHQ and Branch2 sites, perform all Digit Manipulation for both Calling and
Called Party exclusively in CUCM
For the Branch1 site, perform all Calling Party Digit Manipulation in CUCM, and Called
Party Digit Manipulation in the Branch1-R2 IOS H.323 GW
*NOTE: The minimum Dial-Peers for the CorpHQ-R1 GW are already provisioned in
IOS, however proper full configuration of Dial-Peers for Branch1-R2 is your
responsibility to configure. Configure these on Branch1-R2 so that if there was ever a
need to support SRST at this site in the future, that dialing would continue to function in
the same fashion as when the CUCM is up, with no interdigit timeout necessary to
place any call

Private Line Automatic Ringdown (PLAR)

Make it so that when CorpHQ Phone 3 goes off-hook, that the PSTN Line 1
automatically rings
