Web Page
Description:
A web page created to highlight an original logo.
Date:
November 22, 2014
Course Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 5
Joel Judkins
Programs/ Tools:
Text Wrangler and Adobe Illustrator
Objectives:
Creating a webpage by learning CSS and HTML coding.
Process:
To start off creating my webpage I made an html and css document through Textwrangler. I
formatted my text and logo through my html document and then began designing my page through
my css document. I added a background image to go along with my logo and I also incorporated my
color scheme throughout the body background. I made the body and heading background
transparent so the image behind it was slightly visible. For the title I used the type tool in Adobe
Illustrator then made the words an outline so I could add the gradient color as the letter fill. I then
inserted the title into my css page and positioned it to be centered along with my logo and finished
with adjusting my link color to change when clicked on.

Course Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 5

Programs/ Tools:
Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Indesign
Objectives:
To design a two sided brochure by applying what skills have been taught.
Process:
First I began designing my new logo in Adobe Illustrator along with choosing a color scheme to fit
my logo and brochure. I then began creating my brochure in Adobe Indesign and placing my rulers
on where I wanted my folds to be. After I added a box to fit the size of my brochure to add the dark
red color in the background to go with my color scheme and added a background image on the
inside. To finish the inside I added the text and images along with borders on the top and bottom.
As for the front I repeated the borders I added on the inside while adding a small image of crossed
knives in a circle to the middle of the fold. On the back I added more pictures of the different
campuses around the world as well as contact information and my logo.

Programs/ Tools:
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
To create an inspiational montage using 2 or more images.
Process:
Using Adobe Photoshop I cropped the background image to be a 8.5 x 11 size, I then added a mask
to the second image, the bus, so I could blend it in with the background. I also adjusted the
brightness and contrast along with the opacity. I then added some text and chose a font that would
match the mood of the montage.

Event Ad
Description:
This is an ad for a fictional event created through Microsoft Word.
Date:
October 12, 2014
Course Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 5
Joel Judkins
Programs/ Tools:
Microsoft Word
Objectives:
Create an event ad through Microsoft Word using a scanned image.
Process:
The program used to create the ad was Microsoft Word 2013. I first used an image I had previously
scanned and removed part of the background to give off a ripped edge feel. I then added shapes and
text for my title and copy. I also chose fonts that went with the ad as well as the color scheme. In the
lower text and shape fill I used the gradient tool to make the color lighter and easy to read. I then
added the logo and slogan to the bottom of the page.

Course Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 5

Programs/ Tools:
Adobe Illustrator
Objectives:
To create 3 different logos for the same company.
Process:
I decided to create logos for an Italian Restaurant and began working in Adobe Illustrator.I started
by playing with the pen and gradient tool so I could create a color scheme while incorporating the
Italian flag. I then, for the first logo, used a rough sketch for the map of Italy and outlined it in a dark
red then added an off white color to the background and inserted it in a circle. I then used the pen
tool to create the wavy flag in the second logo, and added the gradient I created to the inside. As for
the third logo I created a chefs hat using the pen tool, then created an outline on the wording
Alexandrina, and added the same gradient to it.

pen tool again to create the camera lens coming out of the flower. After creating the logo, I used
Adobe Indesign and placed the logo on my letter head one on the top corner and also I created a
watermark on the bottom corner by adjusting the transparency. To create the two film reels, I
used the rectangle shape to create the black bar, then used the line tool and adjusted the stroke
to make it dashed.

I used the rule of thirds while taking my photo and in doing so I wanted to create a greenish yellow
color scheme. I then used Photoshop to enhance my image, the tools I used were the gradient for
the background, the rectangle tool for the boxes on the bottom to identify the color scheme, and I
also used the sharpen tool to sharpen my image a tad bit. I have had some previous experience
working with this program so I used my skills of how to better my image by adjusting the
brightness, contrast, and vibrance.
