The Need of Career Guide and Placement Cell in University

Abstract

Career Guide and Placement Cell is an integral part of the University Activities for students. It
prepares the student to cater the requirements of the competitive world, liaisons with prominent
Recruiters to ensure that the students are fully trained and equipped, arranges campus
employments, trains the students through mock interview and group discussions. Nowadays
having a professionally conducted organized career guidance and placement cell in collage is a
key element in creating awareness of the various career opportunities available to students and
creating a link between major companies and the students.

The Need of Career Guide and Placement Cell in University

If a decision making process is flawed and dysfunctional, decisions will go awry. According
to Carly Fiorina. (2006,October 28) .Personal interview with Andrew Calrk. A lot of university
students are forced to select the only path they know and arent exposed enough to the other
paths out there. So, they tend to select a career basing their choices purely on options they are
most familiar with, unaware that there are numerous of spectacular careers that can allow them to
become more passionate about what they do and reveal their full potentials.

Many key elements can help students make up their minds efficiently. For instance, parents can
influence their students to follow their footsteps regardless to what they really want. However, in
the end it is really up to the students to initiate ways to learn more about the careers they can
excel in. Career guide and placement cell construct the initial step to learn more about a diverse
range of career learning resources. They can offer the students a variety of career services such
as; work shadowing which allow students to experience what happens within a certain
department or a job role, getting a taste of they might be considering in the future. As an
outcome, the student will gain a better understanding of the workplace and contribute to
building a network of contacts that can be valuable when applying for the job.

Similarly, Career guide and placement cell are mainly targeted to assist students planning for
their careers and provide information that direct them toward their true interests and passion. It
can effectively help in placing students in respectable organizations by campus employment. As
well as training during the study courses. It can also provide lectures, seminars, and group
discussions and incorporating personality development sessions .Plus, it can allow the students
to learn more about opportunities for higher studies to pursuit a career within the university .In
Addition to that, the student will gain more knowledge about GMAT, CAT,GATE and many
entrance exams.

The Need of Career Guide and Placement Cell in University

Placement cells in particular can facilitate contacts and communication between reputable
Companies and students and the Career guidance system can train students adequately to prepare
professional resumes handle group discussions and attend mock interviews. As a result, the
student will be fully equipped for an efficient job search phase. Placement cells can also provide
career counseling which is a very essential factor in building the students career foundation. The
career counseling process can provide the students with sessions conducted with remarkable
leaders in order to maintain the students updated with most recent development in their field of
interest. Workshops conducted with prominent personalities can be arranged and provided too.
Moreover, interpersonal skills development programs are provided by many career guidance
centers to enhance the capabilities of students and enabling them to become more
proficient. Above all, it updates students with the various job advertisements coming in
newspaper, career sites and employment companies.

In conclusion, Career guide and placement cell equips the student to perform effectively in the
competitive world. It facilitates the process of making job opportunities available for the
students. From seminars to recruitment training programs, having a comprehensive career
guide system is an essential stage in the students career to improve their skills and considered
an integral part of the university activities .As well as being an important factor to
enable students to access information about career options available to ensure they are able to
make most of the opportunities available.
