Basic Thoughts
* Keep drills 4 minutes in length, schedule them for 5 minutes
* Practice your style of play
* Team Meetings: I point to half court, the players race to get there, last one in has 10
pushups
We feel this translates to games and getting to huddles quickly.
* MEETINGS ---Hurley meets with team before and after practice
BE POSITIVEtalk with every player, be positive with every player within first
15 minutes of practice daily
Jobs are Won and Lost everyday!
DRILLS
ARGENTINA
Pass to the right, use pivot foot
Switch Lines running straight across.
2 Balls will be used
TALK: say every name every time you pass
Keep your head up and talk or you will run into each other
ST. ANTHONYS
Inbound man MUST turn body to prepare for any baseball pass
PASSING TAG
1 minute, how many opposing players can you tag
1 ball, 1/2 court, must stay on court
TALK, vision, movement, thinking
How many guys can you tag in a minute, then validate
TOUGHNESS DRILLS
A. 4 lines, baseline guys dribble to elbow and jump stop
high elbow guys must rip ball away, then score on heavy bag with one dribble
alternate lines, alternate left and right sides
B. One line per coach.
Hold off defense, coach bill bounce ball, you must seal, go get ball, then score on
opponent
C. Loose Ball, Score
Dive, pitch to coach, get up and score
D. Save going out of bounds

Save to Coach, then explode for layup on heavy bag


2 BALL DRIBBLE DRILLS
below knee, with quick step
alternate low dribble, with quick step
lateral slides to 1/2 court
backwards to 1/2 court
circle dribble to 1/2 court
5 MOVES in 2 MINUTES
7 MOVES, 7 CONES 1/2 COURT CHILL 2 MINUTES
inside out, inside out, to half court
tight spin
escape 2 dribble
fake spin
behind back
between legs
score on pad
4 POST DRILLS
SUPERMAN
2 OR 3 at goal
4 tosses then layup
add practice outlet, reverse pivot, then toss
TIP DRILL (1 HAND)
Pass to self inside box
One hand tip
Must finish with score

STEVE NASH ROUTINE (W/ ONE BALL)
Following each shot dribble to the three point line, then return for 1 minute
Chart all makes
1. 5 feet form jumpers
2. bank angles 5-10 feet
3. 15 foot jumpers, last dribble hard dribble

4. running jump shot


5. back down, reverse pivot into shot
6. shot fake, step through
7. back down, fake rev spin, into jump hook
8. all catches at 3, level 2 right, then left (1 min each)
9. hesitation into jumper
10. Grant Hill into explosion, left/right
11. back in, spin into 15 foot jumper
12. create space, AI step back
13. 3s, pass to self, proper footwork
14. pick & roll, 2 dribble off screen ( 1 dribble back, cross off screen, 2 dribble)
15. range to 20 26 feet
SHOOTING DRILLS
5 SPOT DOUBLE MISS
goal of 100
shoot at a spot until you miss 2 in a row
2 to 3 men, work 5 perimeter spots
Curl, Pop, Fade
2 lines, bounce pass on Curl
quick chest on Pop
1 dribble and deliver on fade
Groups of 3 (TEAM SHOOTING DRILL)
Pick the spot
Make 7 (winner), then rotate
2 misses in a row go back to 0
change shooting spots, track wins
DEFENSE
Concept: ball, u, man
1 on 1 1) 5 seconds
2) give a foul
3) contest shot
4) charge
4 groups go at one time
HUMAN CONE 1 v 1
1 vs 2, must play though cones

3 on 3 FULL (no dribble)
pressure ball, power step
get deflections
defense can dribble on steal
3 man weave to 1/2 court, dribble handoff
Defend 3 man weave, A) no switch, back off and let through
