2010 January Extension Program
Student Guidelines
Communication
We will use the e‐mail address you provided on your application form to contact you. Check your
e‐mail regularly to make sure you don’t miss important information about the program. You will
receive a final confirmation by December 28. If you have not received a confirmation by then, please
contact FYE at 212‐237‐8138.
Program Schedule: January 4–15, Monday–Friday
You indicated your preferred time on your application. This is shown on your Application Receipt. We will
not change the time without contacting you.
You will find out the time of your testing appointment the day before your test. Testing appointments are
usually scheduled at the same time as class. In some cases, however, the times may be slightly different.
Please be prepared to adjust your schedule on January 15. If you have a scheduling conflict that you
cannot change, contact FYE as soon as possible.
Placement
You indicated your preferred subject on your application. We may switch you to a different subject based
on your December test results. This will be reflected in your final confirmation.
Attendance Requirements
This is a short and intensive program, so you are expected to attend and be on time for all class meetings.
Full attendance is required in order to continue in the program and be eligible to retest at the end of the
program.
Absence Policy
In the event of unavoidable emergency, resulting from illness or equivalent hardship:
1. Notify your instructor promptly.
2. Provide your instructor with satisfactory proof, such as a doctor’s note.
3. Make up the missed work during the same week.
Get a referral form from your instructor that indicates the class material you missed. Take the
referral form to the tutoring lab where you can make up the missed hours. To find out the days and
times available for make‐up tutoring, contact the tutoring lab.
If you do not follow these steps, you may be dismissed from the program.
CAT Retesting
Retest date: Friday, January 15, 2010
The day before the retest, your instructor will distribute testing passes in class. Each pass will indicate the
name of the student and the time and location of the retest.
Be on time and be prepared to show your pass on the day of the retest.
Students with disabilities who need testing accommodations should contact the Office of Accessibility
Services (1233N, 212‐237‐8031) in advance.
Retest Results
You can access your test results at http://esims.cuny.edu approximately 48 hours after the retest.
If you pass the CUNY Assessment Test, your grade of ‘R’ will be changed to a ‘P’ and you will be able to
register for the next course in that subject. Go to Super One Stop between January 22 and January 27 to
change your Spring program. Contact Academic Advisement in room 008W for more information about
registration.
Book Policy
Any books that you received on loan at the start of the program must be returned in their original
condition (unmarked and undamaged) to room 100W by 5:00 pm on January 15. If you do not return
them, a stop will be placed on your record and you will not be allowed to register for the coming
semester. You are responsible for the cost of replacement for lost or damaged books.
