VSL Chinese Homework ----4 Mar to 16 Mar

Dear students, the following are the homework for the next 2 weeks. I know you are quite busy with
your day school study. Please try to complete the following work as much as possible. I am very happy
to answer any queries.

1, Read student book :

Introduction (0.10.15)
Listening tips (0.12, 1.7, 1.8)
Writing skills (2.5, 2.17, 2.18, 2.19 )
Kinds of Writing (2.12, 2.13, 4.8 )
Different text types (0.3, 0.4, 2.13, 3.7, 4.8, 4.9)

2, Read Unit 3 Outcomes 1& 2------for Y12 students only (1.6, 2.10, 2.11, 2.12, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 )
Read Unit 1 Outcome 1 & 2-----for Y 11 students only (see attached sheet)
Understand what the outcome is and what the sample assessment task look like.
Prepare for you SAC or Assessment task that scheduled on 17 Mar.

3, Reading , Listening & Writing Exercise in the student book


1) Personal Profile----- book 1.2 to 1.4, learn the structure of the basic personal profile, complete
Step 3 listening exercise & Step 4 writing work.
You can pause and read along with the speaker. You should be able to recognize most of the
words after you listening to the recording for a number of times.
You also can learn the descriptive words used in the samples. Choose some to add in the
personal description vocabulary list that you made last week.
2) How to describe animals ---- book 1.121.13 , read , complete Step 2, 3 & 4,
after you complete the translation activity, check your answer with the attached answer. (The
answer sheet that I provided is for the purpose of helping you to find your weakness with this
subject. You can learn from correcting your mistakes. Please dont look the answer sheet before
you completing the work.)

Please carefully study how the author describe different animal. Can you use some of the
vocabulary later in your future writing?
If you have time, please write a paragraph to describe an animal.
3) Family
Read 2.2 Step 1, learn these words.
Read the questions in Step 2, predict what you are going to hear in the recording.
Listening to the dialogue on Track 6 of CD1, try to get the general idea of the content, also try to
answer some questions, after 5 minutes, listen to the recording for a second time. Then
complete the questions.
I also attach the audio scripts for your reference. If you could not follow the recording, please
play one sentence , pause and write down the sentence , then next sentence, try to understand
every sentence.
For Second language advanced student only, please complete 2.3, 2.4 . Audio scripts are also
attached.
4) A Letter to introduce family members hobby
Read 2.21,
Note the format of letter.
Complete work in 2.22, Step 2, Step 3. Step 4
Answers for step 4 translation has been attached .

5) Daily Routine
Read 3.1, complete Step 1 & 2, please follow the same procedures as in above listening exercise.
Audio script is attached.
Read 3.3 Step 4, please translate all the questions and provided sample answers in 3.3 into
English. Learn some new words. Yu can use these into your future writing.
For Second language advanced student only, please also complete Step 3.

6) School Life
Read 4.4, 4.5, learn new words in 4.4, complete work in 4.5.
Answers are provided.
If you have time, could you please write a letter of reply to Diana about your school life.

7, Vocabulary exercise
Please see attached How to use the script and article for vocabulary check. This exercise can help you
to examine your vocabulary and meet the requirement of VCE. You can complete this exercise during
the Easter holiday if you could not find time to complete it now.

8, Writing exerciseI left this work on 25 Feb.


Write a diary entry about an event, or write an imaginative story, such as you meet with your favorite
singer or sportsman. Refer to 4.8, 4.7.
