SP 119
(Microcrystalline Zinc-Phosphate )
DESCRIPTION
SP119 (Microcrystalline Zinc Phosphate) produce an extremely fine
microcrystalline zinc phosphate coating on ferrous and other metal surfaces.
This is used where a light, but firm, zinc phosphate is required as rust proofing
under paint. It has also the purpose of affording the necessary adherence
characteristics when applying rubber over metal. Because of the unique
inherent and cohesive property of its crystal structure, SP-119 coating is
specially suited for use as metal pre-treatment for break-in, anti-wear, and
anti-scuffing applications.
SP119 Microcrystalline Zinc Phosphate coating when properly applied prevents
rust formation under paint and reduces
paint requirement because of its
smooth and fine crystalline structure.

OPERATION

Ambient

Fill the tank at operational level. Add the specified amount of SP119. ACCEPHOS is added at a rate of 0.7 grams per litre of SP119 in the solution. Metal
wares should be free from organic soils and should pass through rinsing stage to
neutralize alkalinity and prevent pH contamination. If blush rust occurs on the
initial materials processed, adjust the total acid-free acid ratio content of the
solution.
CONTROL PROCEDURE
Total Acid: Pipette 10 ml. sample of phosphate solution into a beaker. Add 10
drops of phenolphthalein indicator. Titrate with 0.1N NaOH until the solution
turns pink. Millilitres of titrating solution equal the total acid points.
Free Acid: Pipette 10 ml. sample of phosphate solution into a beaker. Add 4
drops of BPB (Bromophenol Blue) indicator. Titrate with 0.1N NaOH until the
solution turns to blue. Millilitre of titrating solution equals free acid point.
HANDLING AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
SP119 Zinc-Phosphate is an acidic material and normal precaution for handling
acid should be observed. Rubber gloves, face shield and apron should be
worn by personnel
working with these materials. If SP119 comes in
contact with the skin, it should be flushed with large amount of water. If eye is
involved, flush immediately with clean water for at least 15 minutes and obtain
medical attention.
STORAGE
Keep in cool, dry area. Prolonged storage over six months may be detrimental
to the efficiency of the product. "First-In, first-Out" stock rotation is suggested.
Protect from freezing.
