Bhopal

JP and Congress members expressed concern over the

issue of alleged sale of illegal and spurious liquor in various parts of MP. The matter was raised by BJP's
Pandhana (Khandwa district) MLA Yogita Naval Singh
Borkar through a Call Attention motion in the Assembly. However,
in his reply, state Commercial Taxes Minister Jayant Mallaiya
said that after the probe, it was found that only "duty paid" liquor
was being sold, while the MLA had complained of sale of illegal
liquor in Pandhana area. It was also revealed that no case of sale
of spurious liquor was found and the civil surgeon (of the concerned area) also confirmed that no casualty was reported in the
area because of consumption of spurious liquor, he said.
Mallaiya also informed the House that Excise officials were
regularly keeping a watch on the area and taking action against
those involved in the sale of such liquor. Besides Yogita, Congress
member Sunderlal Tiwari and others also raised the issue of sale
of illegal liquor in their respective areas. But, Deputy Speaker
Rajendra Kumar Singh did not ask the Minister to respond to the
matter raised by others as the Call Attention motion was specific
to Pandhana area only.

Ratnagarh stampede tabled:

head constable found guilty,
clean chit to others
On the last day of the Winter Session of MP Assembly, GAD
Minister Lal Singh Arya tabled reports of two judicial committees

formed to investigate Ratangarh temple stampede and firing at JP

cement factory. In the Ratangarh stampede occurred on October
13, 2013, stampede had taken place at the bridge while the devotees were going to offer prayers at a temple. In the incident, the
committee headed by retired High Court judge Rakesh Saxena has
found a head constable guilty, while other accused have been given
clean-chit.
Similarly, in the firing incident at the gate of JP cement factory gate, district judge of Bhopal Sushma Khosla found that the
incident could have been averted if the Collector and SP had taken
effective measures in advance.

Furore over attack on MLA

Members of the opposition as well the ruling BJP created an
uproar in the Assembly while discussing an adjournment motion
moved by the Congress about an alleged attack on Bahoriband
MLA Sourabh Singh during the recent local body polls in the state.
Speaker Sitasharan Sharma adjourned the House for five minutes
after Singh (Sourabh) made some unparliamentary comment
against BJP MLA Sanjay Pathak and refused to take back his
remark. However, the Speaker expunged the remark from the
Assembly's proceedings.
Singh, who took part in the debate, seated on his chair due to
an injury, called allegations levelled by ruling BJP members that
he had fired from his licensed revolver during a dispute at a
polling station in Katni with a BJP MLA's family member Manish
Pathak, as "totally false". Home Minister Babulal Gaur informed
the House that those responsible for the incident were already
arrested.

LG's 'Mallika-e-Kitchen' in the sixth season finale of
the live cookery contest held here recently. The competition was held at a hotel in New Delhi and Mathur
was among 12 contenders from various states across
India. Her preparations were jointly called Zaika-EHind, and she was honoured by celebrity chef and
judge Nita Mehta. Talking about her win, Mathur said:
"I am extremely happy and honoured that I have won
the title. Being a working woman, I hardly had time to
prepare myself for it. But I had great support from my
family because of which I was able to do it." The
standout factor in her preparation for the finale was the
fact that it had "all the colours of the Indian flag",
added Mathur, who received a door-to-door refrigerators. Started August 25, this year's 'Mallika-e-Kitchen'
cooking contest had 4,000 participants from 62 cities
across India. The competition was conducted in three
stages, which culminated in the grand finale here.
Mumbai-based Pushpa Chaplot and Chennai based
Shajeeda were named as the first and the second runners-up respectively. They were awarded a water purifier each. The grand finale witnessed a challenge under
which all the 12 contestants were asked to make their
respective dishes in 90 minutes using a microwave. All
of them attempted to lend a flavour of the region they
came from. Nita Mehta, who has been associated with
the contest since its first season, said: "Taste, texture
and presentation are the three basic things I look out
for. The new and innovative ideas that I saw in Rita's
dish was tremendous." Lauding the initiative, she
added: "A woman is never rewarded and appreciated
for her efforts in the kitchen. With 'Mallika-e-Kitchen',
LG has presented a platform through which women
can showcase her talent to everybody. Such efforts
boost the confidence in women and empower them to
compete with the society.

W Bengal to organise global business summit

Kolkata
As an initiative to rejuvenate
the industrial scenario in the
state, the Government of West
Bengal is organising a global summit, scheduled to be held here on
January 7 and 8, 2015. The summit has a vision to seek partnership with the business community,
investors and intellectual capital
from outside the state and the
country to invest in a range of
areas that will trigger future
growth and change in the years

ahead. Bengal Global Business

Summit 2015 will bring to the fore

the readiness of the State in terms

of taking on challenges and meeting aspirations. Our vision for this
year's business summit is to create a blueprint that will explore
new possibilities of creating a
resurgent Bengal, an official
statement said. It will help the
state grow to new heights through
implementation of technology,
policies, practice and strategic
investment, it added. The event
will focus on sectors like urban
infrastructure and housing, IT

software and hardware, food processing, horticulture and floriculture, MSME and textiles, health
care, education and skills, manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, hospitality and tourism and
the business of entertainment and
financial services. National and
international entrepreneurs of
stature will address and share
their thoughts and experiences at
the plenary session during the two
day event. The summit will also
include sectoral breakaway ses-

sions with the participation of

leading industrialists from each
sector. In addition, there will be
B2B and G2B interactions and
opportunity for expositions, exhibition and presentations from
overseas and national investors.
The global event will be a platform
to understand the potential of
West Bengal in various sectors
and it will also create opportunities to interact with policy makers,
industry leaders, and top level
government officials, it said.

Bhubaneshwar (Odisha)
In order to improve business
potential of rice processing sector
of the state, the Odisha government will provide incentives to
integrated rice millers for
upgrading and setting up more
processing units. The processing
mills will have facilities to produce rice bran oil and rice husk
power using surplus rice available in the state.
Recently, the state chief secretary GC Pati had said there is
need for technology upgradation
in existing mills and new mills in
urban areas of the state. MSME
secretary Panchanan Dash said
there is no specific package for
funding the rice mills. However,
the provisions mentioned in the
Food Processing Policy 2013 can
be applied to investors wanting to

set up rice mills. The policy on

food processing will cover all the
benefits and ensure five per cent
per annum back-ended interest
subsidy on working capital loan
for first five years from commencement of operation of the
units subject to a limit of Rs 5
lakh per year for five years.
The move is aimed at developing more rice mills in coastal districts
such
as
Cuttack,
Jagatsinghpur and other nearby
districts against the backdrop of a
recent study which showed that
nearly eight such districts lacked
milling capacity compared with
their annual demand. Odisha has
been producing around 8 million
tonne rice every year. Around 60
per cent of it is processed at
domestic mills while the rest is
transported to other states.

Punjab
Heritage
and Tourism Promotion
Board is taking various
steps to develop tourism
in the state by conserving
and renovating tourism
sites and putting in place
infrastructure and services to promote the state
as a prominent eco-tourism hub. Known for its
cuisine, culture and history, Punjab is richly
endowed with fertile farming land, and boasts
monuments, gurudwaras, sacred nes, temples,
lakes, museums and wildlife sanctuaries. To
develop these further, the Board is now keen to
hire consultancy firms to conduct feasibility
studies and for preparation of master plans. In
the pipeline are plans for conservation works,
civil works, landscaping, infrastructure like

roads and also eco-tourism projects. The functions of the Punjab Heritage and Tourism
Promotion Board are to undertake directly or
through public-private partnership setting up
tourism infrastructure; promote crafts and skills
related to the State; encourage expression of
artists in the mediums of painting, sculpture,
theatre, creative writing, music, films, documentaries; and publish the rich and diverse heritage
of Punjab, especially in the music, dance,
cuisines, costumes etc.

market facility spread across
537.6 acres of land with world
class infrastructure will be
equipped with advanced cold

hub designed for receiving long

flow of fruits and vegetables

from growing areas in order to
recompose them and make them
available to wholesalers in
Delhi/NCR region wholesale
markets and ship them to
receiving traders in remote consuming areas throughout the
country. In addition, Ganaur has
a close proximity to the Azadpur
which is a market of National
Importance. Around 30 per cent
of the total inflow and 28 per
cent of the total outflow of

Azadpur market passes through this route

which is expected to
tap by IIHM, Ganaur
on its way. Hence,
Ganaur is a strategic
location for setting up
the India International
Horticulture Market
as the road load factor for
Ganaur is very high. The
Azadpur market is handling
approximately 42,37,000 MTs in
an area of 78 acres, and hence is
highly congested. The establishment of IIHM at Ganaur is
intended to reduce congestion in
Azadpur Market. The identified
site of Ganaur project is in vicinity to the major production areas
of Haryana like Sonepat,
Panipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, etc.

Inaugurating the food park, which is
among the fourth such parks in the country, the Union Minister gave a clarion
call for establishment of more food processing units to reduce the huge food
wastage worth Rs 45,000 crores in the
country. She said that "This is just the
beginning.
The Ministry has succeeded in promoting International Food Park by
extending a subsidy of Rs 50 crore. In the
near future you will see many more
parks and food processing units coming
up in the State", she said while addressing public gathering on the occasion.
Giving details of forthcoming projects in
Punjab, Smt Badal said ITC was coming
up with a Rs 1,000 crore food park in
Kapurthala. "We are also promoting
establishment of a cold chain for which
we are giving a subsidy of Rs 10 crore

Forests (Wildlife) Narendra Kumar said.

He said the move is being taken to
ensure that the Barasinghas do not
become extinct in case of an outbreak of

Barasinghas in KTR. In 1967, the population of Barasinghas dipped to an all

time low of 66. Some wildlife experts
suspect that they fall prey to tigers and
other carnivores due to their inability to
enter deep forests as they have huge
antlers. After this, forest officials tried
to translocate them but the effort failed
to bear fruit. The deer died before reaching their new home in Bandhavgarh
Tiger Reserve. "A previous attempt to
shift Barasinghas was made in early
1980s but it didn't work," KTR director
JS Chauhan said. "At that time, the
tranquilising methodology and transporting was not as modernized as it was
now," he said. He said Barasinghas are
found only in KTR. If this translocation
effort is successful, then another bid to
shift 50 more Barasinghas from Kanha
to Satpura Tiger Reserve will be made, a
senior forest official said.

centres for milk, fruits and vegetables",
she added. Urging farmers to add value
to their crops she said they could also
form small self help groups for this purpose. Making out a case for diversifying
from paddy cultivation, Smt Badal said
the need of the hour was to add value to
fruits and vegetables grown in Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy CM of
Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal said diversification would become a reality with

creation of more food parks including the

one coming up in Kapurthala. Badal
lauded the food park promoters for providing more than 700 jobs to local youth
and said more youngsters would be
employed in the park once other companies also established their units in the 55
acre facility. The 55 acre food park has
come up at a cost of Rs 136 crore having
facilities for processing milk and milk
products besides packaging vegetables
and fruits.

Reportedly, Irani shot her bits in

after, Irani got busy with her political responsibilities and couldn't
make time for further filming. After
she took over as a minister, the makers decided to scrap shoots in

After six months of waiting

equal to last years quantity.
It is noteworthy that the state government is making every possible effort to make
urea available to farmers. CM Shivraj Singh
Chauhan had met Union Minister of
Chemicals and Fertilisers on September 14
and 20 and December 2, 2014 and urged for
supply of urea as per demand. CM Chauhan
has undertaken efforts to tighten up urea
supply arrangements at the state level also.
In this context, during a video-conferencing
on December 5, he directed commissioners
and collectors to keep a constant vigil over
distribution of urea from private and cooperative sectors.
In the same video-conference, collectors
were authorised to fix ratio of urea allocation
to private and cooperative sectors as 75:25 as
per demand instead of present 50:50 ratio. In
the conference, CM Chauhan had directed to
undertake joint surprise inspections of private and cooperative sales centres by
Revenue and Farmers Welfare and
Agriculture Development departments to
curb blackmarketing of urea and other fer-

tilisers. Besides all, DAP and Complex fertilisers have also been supplied more this
year than the last year. So far this year, 2
lakh 89 thousand MT DAP has been distrib-

uted as compared to 2 lakh 65 thousand MT.

This year, 82 thousand MT Complex fertiliser
has been distributed as compared to 54 thousand MT last year. It may also be mentioned

here that last year sowing was undertaken in

100 lakh hectare area as on this day while
sowing operations have been undertaken in
84 lakh 90 thousand hectares this year.

Satyarthi pitches legislation

against child labour
Bhopal
Nobel Peace prize winner Kailash
Satyarthi, who returned to India after
receiving the prize in Oslo, Norway,
has pitched for the passage of the
pending legislation against child
labour, saying that history won't forgive the legislators if the bill does not
get passed.
"I want to make an earnest appeal
to all the parliamentarians, and also
to other leaders to facilitate the passage of the key legislation failing
which history and children of India
won't forgive them," Satyarthi said.
He said that he's a friend of the children. No one should see them as
pitiable subjects or charity. He said
people often relate childish behaviour
to stupidity or foolishness. This needs

to change. I want to level the playing

field where I can learn from children.
I can learn transparency from children. They're innocent and straightforward, he said. Satyarthi said the
prize is an honour to all those children who are still suffering in slavery,
bonded labour and trafficking. He

said people can protect children from

exploitation. Consumers can boycott
goods and services that involve children in manufacturing products.
Don't accept hospitality from eateries
and by from shops employing children.
Summon the courage to tell them
that you refuse to take their services
because they employ children, which
is a crime. This will put psychological
pressure on the industries too.
Demand a guarantee from shops you
visit that they don't employ children.
Use social media to prevent exploitation, Satyarthi said. Asked how he
would spend the prize money,
Satyarthi said that he had previously
"never seen" that much money in his
life, quickly adding that he would

spend "every single

penny" for the cause of
children in India and
globally. "I have never
seen or touched that
amount of money in
my life before. But I
can assure you that
every single penny
will go to the cause of
children in my country
and globally.
The money won't
even go to my own NGO,"
he said. Satyarthi's NGO
Bachpan Bachao Andolan
prides itself on liberating over
80,000 children from bonded
labour in factories and workshops
across India.
