Cee eee as re oe ce OT eae omens FRENCH KITCHEN TABLE in 3 SCALES Whilst in theory it should be easy to reduce measurements from 1/12th scale instructions to make smaller scale pieces, it can sometimes be a bit tricky especially when the thickness of wood required is not available and slight alterations have to be made. So here, I've provided you with the measurements for a French kitchen table, which | saw in real size in a shop specialising in vintage and antique French furniture. 1:12 scale table wood pieces From 3/16in (5mm) thick white wood: Four 2 3/8in (6Umm) by 3/16in (smm) for legs Two 37/Bin (98mm) by 1/2in (12mm) for long supports Two 15/16in (33mm) by 1/2in (12mm) short supports From 3/32in (2.5mm) thick white wood: Three 3 7/8in (98mm) by 11/16in (18mm) for top boards Two 2 1/16in (52mm) by 3/8in (10mm) for end boards 1:24 scale table wood pieces From 3/32in (2.5mm) thick white wood: Four 1 3/16in (30mm) by 3/32in (2.5mm) for legs Two 1 15/16in (49mm) by 1/4in (6mm) for long supports Two 21/32in (16mm) by 1/4in (6mm) short supports 1/16in (1.5mm) thick white wood: Three 1 15/16in (49mm) by 11/32in (9mm) for top boards Two 1 1/32in (26mm) by 3/16in (Smm) for end boards | Take the top boards and extremely lightly chamfer/ angle the edges on one side of the wood pieces, so that when they are put together you will see each separate piece of wood. Take the end boards and only lightly chamfer/angle one long 1:48 scale table wood pieces edge. You literally only need From 1/16in (1.5mm) thick white wood: to take a whisper of wood Four 19/32in (15mm) by 1/16in (1.5mm) for legs off, don’t over do it, Two 31/32in (24mm) by 1/8in (3mm) for long supports especially on the 1/48th Two 21/32in (8.5mm) by 1/8in (3mm) short supports, scale pieces. Stain the wood From 1/32in (1mm) thick white wood: pieces and once dry, Three 31/32in (24mm) by 3/16in (4.5mm) for top boards position and glue together Two 3/8in (13.5mm) by 3/32in (2.5mm) for end boards as shown with the chamfers facing upwards. Once dry, lightly rub over the top of a fine grade sandpaper to smooth the painted finish. Buff the pieces with a clean piece of kitchen paper towel. Once dry, position a long support placed wide side down, in-between two legs, the top edge of the support and the tops of the legs are flush. ‘Again use a gluing jig to ensure the pieces dry square. Repeat the procedure and allow the constructions to dry before proceeding.
