A Canard after all

In August of 2008 the Publisher of the Merrimack Journal had the courage to print my politically incorrect
op-ed “Global Warming – A Canard?” His courageous insight has been vindicated by the revelations of a
whistleblower who made public 60MB worth of documents and e-mails from the University of East Anglia,
the most leftist (progressive) center of higher education in the UK and the key contributor to the UN’s
IPCC. These documents uncovered outright fraud on the part of the researchers; its results are now
being used by the IPCC and by politicians all over the globe to impose all manner of taxes and
regulations on the population while furthering their Global Governance agenda. This pursuit is not about
Global Warming or Climate Change, but control. Fraud is never a prerequisite for Truth nor is it a useful
basis for sound economic policy.

These revelations, a few weeks prior to Copenhagen, gave no pause to our esteemed leader, Mr.
Obama, to reconsider his attendance to the meeting, yet he lent the prestige of the Presidency of the USA
to a fraudulent cause. No surprise there. As Mr. Obama fully well knows the Anthropogenic Global
Warming myth is a convenient vehicle to use in increasing taxation and government control over every
conceivable use of energy in our recessed and soon to be -depressed economy. A myth, apparently, is
also a terrible thing to waste.

What is evident in the behavior of these climate folks is that they are not scientists in the pursuit of truth,
but well paid political shills in pursuit of a pseudo-scientific foundational basis for an environmental
ideology… a dogma, a quasi-religious faith that brooks no dissent. Demagogues and politicians such as
Mr. Obama will use the AGW lie in pursuit of trans-constitutional power to “…fundamentally transforming
the United States of America.” And then there is the EPA, an arm of the executive branch of government,
decreeing CO2 a pollutant and threatening “command and control” measures unless Congress passes
Cap and Tax legislation. CO2 is essential to life, thus not a pollutant and the EPA should be challenged in
Federal Court for usurping the powers that our Constitution reserved for Congress and be forced to
actually prove this falsehood. That will be a most compelling case!

The Copenhagen circus accomplished nothing other than revealing the true nature of the agendas of the
participants: the transfer of wealth from the haves, by confiscatory taxes, to have-not kleptocrats of the
third and fourth worlds; ever so generous Mr. Obama pledged a $100 Billion down payment that will be
borrowed in our name. It appears that the totalitarians of old have now assumed a “Green” mantle to
shroud their “Red” redistributing and controlling souls. The standing ovation by the world’s bureaucrats
and politicians to Hugo Chavez, the thug from Venezuela, for his 20 minute rant against capitalism and
economic freedom evidenced their shared hatred of the economic system that works best when they are
least. And this group has the hubris to make us believe that they can benignly control climate.

The climate of our planet arises out of an enormous number of complex interactions among and between
dynamical systems, powered by the sun, such as the oceans, wind currents, volcanic and biological
activity, these are on the whole of a chaotic nature, that is, they are deterministic, unpredictable, turbulent,
do not follow linear functions and are best described by partial differential equations. In other words, they
are very difficult to model reliably and computer models cannot predict specific events i.e. that a
magnitude four hurricane will hit Pensacola, FL on September 5, 2010. Such is the nature of Chaos.

The chaotic nature of weather is the greatest difficulty that meteorologist face in accurately forecasting
beyond four days. Yet, the sages from the IPCC, East Anglia University and Penn State have no difficulty
in predicting climate to ten, twenty and fifty years into the future. Quite a feat when one realizes that
climate is an averaging of weather over long periods of time. Even if they had not falsified the data and
tweaked their software to produce the hockey stick graphs that show global mean temperature increasing
very rapidly; the laws of physics guarantee that these climate gurus are wrong since heat flows from hot
to cold, from Earth’s surface to the atmosphere, not the reverse as their model presumes. John von
Neumann, one of the foremost mathematicians of the 20th century once said: “If you allow me four free
parameters I can build a mathematical model that describes exactly everything that an elephant can do. If
you allow me a fifth free parameter, the model I build will forecast that the elephant will fly." Our AGW
 sages flew high indeed on their fraudulent parameters until a courageous whistleblower made public their
corruption.

Lord Christopher Monckton, an advisor to Margaret Thatcher and AGW critic, has written extensively
while taking on the claims of the IPCC and debunking them one by one. In one of his papers he
demonstrates that computer models used by the IPCC were pre-programmed with inflated values
resulting in a 500-2000% overstatement of CO2’s effect on temperature in the IPCC’s 2007 climate
assessment report. In addition Lord Monckton’s paper reveals that:

• CO2 enrichment will add little more than 1°F (0.6°C) to global mean surface temperature by 2100;
• Not one of the three key variables whose product is climate sensitivity can be measured directly;
• The IPCC’s values for these key variables are taken from only four published papers, not 2,500;
• The IPCC’s values for each of the three variables, and hence for climate sensitivity, are overstated;
• “Global warming” halted ten years ago, and surface temperature has been falling for seven years;
• Not one of the computer models relied upon by the IPCC predicted so long and rapid a cooling;
• The IPCC inserted a table into the scientists’ draft, overstating the effect of ice-melt by 1000%;
• It was proved 50 years ago that predicting climate more than two weeks ahead is impossible;
• Mars, Jupiter, Neptune’s largest moon, and Pluto warmed at the same time as Earth warmed;
• In the past 70 years the Sun was more active than at almost any other time in the past 11,400 years.

Deep Throat, of Watergate infamy, advised Bob Woodward to follow the money. Here are some figures:

• Since 1989 the US government has spent over $79 billion on climate chance research.
• The estimated cost to US families of Cap and Trade legislation varies from $1,900 to $4,600 annually.
• Cap and Trade will be the largest tax increase in the history of our nation.
• Carbon trading reached $126 billion in 2008.
• Experts predict that carbon trading will reach $2 to $10 trillion annually within a decade.

“The large expenditure in search of a connection between carbon and climate creates enormous
momentum and a powerful set of vested interests. By pouring so much money into a question have we
inadvertently created a self-fulfilling prophesy instead of an unbiased investigation?” Joanne Nova asks.
Ms Nova is an Australian free lance science writer and author of the Skeptics Handbook.

In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle Mr. Obama said: “You know, when I was asked earlier
about the issue of coal, uh, you know — Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would
necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m
capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants
were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money.
They will pass that money on to consumers.” Obama’s attempt at controlling climate will increase costs
for everything produced; this will only lengthen the recession and may plunge our economy into a
depression while trying to solve a non-existent problem. This is madness.

In conclusion, the advocates of AGW have to prove that CO2 is the cause of the presumed warming. The
science is not settled much as the fraudsters and politicians would wish. We the People can not allow the
Greens cum Reds to subvert our democracy, impose a new and onerous set of taxes, shackle our
markets, destroy what is left of the free enterprise system, ruin the remnants of our manufacturing base
and reduce us to being just another third world nation after our elected officials redistribute what wealth
remains. We can not allow the light of Truth to go out in this, the last great hope for humanity. Let’s vote
the incumbents out and bring a new generation of citizen legislators that will return our nation to the
Constitution that our Founding Fathers designed, one that has worked so well for more than two centuries
and will work for many more if legislators sworn to uphold it honor their oath.
