Around 20 years ago, many of us started

experiencing home theatre in the form of
5.1 audio. Movies like Days of Thunder
were among the first films where from the
comfort of our couches and recliners we
could hear the Nascars circling around us
with the deep rumble of the subwoofer
causing goosebumps to spontaneously
appear.
Since then, home theatre has seen minor
changes and refinements. Today we have
2 home theatre codecs from 2 competing
companies, Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master
Audio. So long as your equipment (BD
player, receiver and speakers) supports
these, you'll be capable of hearing 8 discrete
channels for 7.1 audio.
From next year, we'll see the introduction
of the first Dolby Atmos Blu-Ray discs,

representing the biggest leap forward in

home theatre since 5.1.
Dolby Atmos gives us the potential to be
completely encapsulated by home theatre.
By adding an additional 2 or 4 ceiling
speakers, our movie environments will
literally surround us and allow for much
greater emersion. Objects passing us will
more accurately flow through the room
and past our heads. All the while, rain will

finally fall from above our heads! Atmos is

expected to provide a WOW! factor to home
theatre that we have not seen since its
introduction.

channel. A compilation of information that
we've heard from Dolby as well as plenty
of other here-say and rumors about this
amazing leap forward.

At the moment, most AV installation questions seem to revolve around wireless audio
(music over Wi-Fi). Most users want to use their phones, tablets and PCs to send music around
the house. So we get asked, is there a simple way that will work with everything?
For sending audio over Wi-Fi the industry standard is DLNA. Most of us actually use DLNA
everyday without ever knowing it. It's built into most consumer electronics with a Wi-Fi or
cabled internet connection. So TVs, sound systems, BD players, PCs and media players will
often support DLNA. The other big standard for Wi-Fi audio (and video) is Apple's AirPlay.
Airplay is a proprietary standard for Apple and maybe a little less flexible than DLNA, but
extremely easy to use and stable.
Up until now, getting Wi-Fi music to every point of the house has been a tough job. Now one
inexpensive device is looking to change this. The WMR14 will work with everything, is easy to
set up and simple to use. From upgrading old 1980s boom boxes to networking new homes,
the WMR14 is looking to become the go-to-product for audio over Wi-Fi.

We touched upon [DLNA] wireless audio, so let's check out one of the newest entrants, Heos by Denon. Having played with
this product at the CEDIA Expo in Sydney, it arguably offers the best user interface that I've seen. The "by Denon" part of
the name should give us a hint that the amplification and sound quality are impressive. For people using the latest Apps
like Spotify or Pandora, Heos allows different music to play in each room. It can even stream different Spotify accounts
simultaneously. Using the simple interface, you can pinch together each zone and the same music will be played in all zones.

At CEDIA / Integrate, we had on demo the Pro2 Pro1300 4 Zone (Class D) Amplifier hooked up to the Earthquake ACS3.0 'downlight sized'
speakers. Both the amplifiers and speakers are the most underrated audio products in our range. We wanted to show how much you can do with
these pocket rockets.
We were able to show that despite size, both these products are capable of pumping out volume and a full frequency range. The Pro1300, like
other Pro2 Amplifiers, features Class D technology allowing for miniature size, small ratings (15W per channel) and yet enough audio power to fill

The Earthquake ACS3.0 'downlight sized' speakers are a feat of engineering. Earthquake's subwoofers are among the best in the industry, yet
for the demo, we resisted the temptation. Instead, we wanted to prove that a downlight sized speaker is capable of reproducing bass on its own.
Having untrusting installers scamper about the stand in search of a inexistent subwoofer was evidence enough to show that they were impressed.
It's really something that our Chinese manufacturers have been unable to replicate. The nice thing about Earthquake is that it also offers great
trade margins, so after the show, we are watching our stocks on hand. We expect this product to sell at even higher volumes.

A stand alone access controller is a Keypad / RFID reader and a

controller in a stand-alone unit. This type of unit is ideal for use in an
area where high security is not required i.e. gates, door entrances
where access is required but is not the main security point.

OR

A two-part access control system comprises a separate Keypad

or RFID reader at an entrance and a controller located in a secure
central location. These type of units are ideal when the highest
security is required i.e. Schools, Hospitals, Business premises etc.

The Presco range of controllers, keypads, RFID readers fall into these categories. Presco PAC-1 / PAC-2 Single / Two Door Access Controllers.
Presco Access Control is designed for maximising security using a split system, allowing the PAC Door Controllers to do the code processing in
remote protected areas. Using the latest microprocessing technology the PAC controllers operate most electric door locking devices on the market.
The controller together with Presco keypads (PRE / PSE-IL / PTKR / VR), proximity reader (PRO2410) or a Presco Interface Module (PIM) with a
