Physical Condition and Fitness

In P.E. we had to do some tests to measure how fit we are. We had

to do the bleep test in which we had to run 20m and back, when you
heard the sound you needed to start running and you needed to do
the 20m before the sound sounded again. You needed to do that until
you were tired. I think this measured our resistance. We did the
Cooper test which consisted on running around a peach for 12
minutes. I think this also measures your resistance. We did the Seat
and Reach test. It consists of sitting in the floor at the side of a bench
which on top has a paper with numbers. You need to put your legs
straight and try to stretch all you can. I think this measures your
flexibility. We also did the ball throw which consists of throwing a ball
against a ball and catch it with a different hand every time but the
ball cant touch the ground. You need to do this as many times as you
can in a minute. I think this test measures your ability to use your
hands. We did Sit-ups which consists on lying down and trying to get
up without using your legs or hands. I think this test measures how
strong is your abdominal. We did press-ups which consist on lying
down facing the ground and with your hands you try to lift your body
up without using your legs. I think this test measures how strong are
you. We did the Stalk test which consists of standing with the tip of
your toes ad putting one of the legs up in your knee. I think this test
measures your valance. We did the ruler drop which consists of a
person holding a ruler on top of the hand of their partner is which is
in suspension in the border of the desk. The person throws the ruler
and the other one has to try and catch it. I think this test measures
your reaction time. We did the 30m sprint which consists on sprinting
as fast as you can in 30m. I think this test measures your velocity.
We did the Long Jump which consists of taking momentum and
jumping as far as you can and ending with your feet. This tests are
used to measure how healthy or fit we are.
I think my results were not as good as many other people in my
class. As whole my results were a bit disaster. In the bleep test and
cooper test i couldnt run a lot because i dont have a lot of resistance
and i dont breathe properly so my stomach aches and i have to stop.
So thats why i didnt do so well in those tests. I think i did well in the
Sit and Reach test because i am quite elastic. The ball throw was a
complete disaster because my coordination its not so good so thats
why i didnt to so well in that test. My Sit-ups were also a disaster
because i never practice them so my abdominal is not so used to it. I
think my Press-ups were not so bad because i think i did a lot
2

because i sometimes practice them. The Illinois test didnt go as i

expected because i am quite agile but it seems like i didnt do so well
that time maybe because i was not ready for it. The stalk test went
horrible because my valance is horrible so i dont last much. The ruler
drop test went ok because i think that i react or respond just in time.
I honestly think that the 30m sprint was horrible because i am not so
fast because i dont run much so thats why. The Long Jump was the
best test i did because i jumped very far. This is because i have very
strong and agile legs.
If we compare my results to the results of the people in my class my
results are totally a disaster. For example in the 30m Sprint i got 5,7
and the fastest was 4,8 and the average of scores was 5,5 i dint
even get to 5,5 and that is quite bad. In the Ball Throw I was the
worst in my class i did 15 and the average was off 37 that is really
bad. In the previous year i did even worst so i am quite happy about
it. I improved in many things like the sit-ups and the press-ups and i
have decreased in some things like the Illinois test. I think i have
improved because i am doing sport even more days than last year. I
think i can improve my fitness levels my practicing varied sports
because i do sports in school a day a week plus my sport but it you
dont require some of this things in my sport.

I have learned doing this project that it is essential to do sports to

have been healthy and fit and by doing this tests you can find out
what you need to improve in order to be fit. I have learnt that i am
not as fit as i thought i was and that i need to improve. I found it
difficult to interpret all the results.
