We have created this list of frequently asked questions to help you and your students better understand
the free Epocrates Essentials for Medical Students Program. If you have other questions, please contact

1. Many of our students already use the free Epocrates Rx product, how is Epocrates Essentials
better?
Epocrates Essentials offers all the functionality of Epocrates Rx, plus additional drug, disease,
and diagnostic content, including:
Expanded drug content including alternative medicines
Access to disease monographs with hi-definition images and treatment guidelines by
patient group
Empirical and specific infectious disease treatment recommendations

How do medical students receive their free Epocrates Essentials licenses?

Heres how the program works:
Students must visit www.epocrates.com/e/edu/medstudents and fill out the form on
the landing page.
Once the student fills out the information and selects GET IT NOW they will be
redirected to the Epocrates registration page where they can register for a new account
or sign into their current account. (Note: to access the free Epocrates Essentials they
must list their occupation as medical student)
Next the student must verify their medical student standing. (Note: if the medical
student cannot be verified after filling in their information- they can SKIP this section
and Epocrates will follow up directly to verify)
Once the registration is complete, the students will see their shopping cart with
Epocrates Essentials and the discount should pre-populate reflecting the cost of $ 0.00
After clicking confirm of purchase they will be directed to download the Epocrates on
their device. Download/update instructions can be found at: http://bit.ly/12cfaXa

3. How many times can a medical student take advantage of this offer?
Medical students can download only one license per year for each year they are in medical
school. They cannot activate multiple licenses in a single year.

Is this offer available to all medical students?

This offer is available to all U.S. medical students attending an accredited medical school in a
MD/DO program.

5. How long is this offer available to our school

We regularly measure the success of the program and our plan is to continue the program each
year in Q3. Schools that are not utilizing or showing code abuse may not be invited to
participate in the future.
6. Can residents or other students take advantage of this offer?
This offer is for medical students only. Residents or other students (i.e. nursing students, PA
students, etc.) are not eligible for this offer. However, we have a new Epocrates EDU program
designed with the help of medical school deans and librarians for educational institutions that
provide mobile and online access to Epocrates for staff, students and administrators at a
discounted price. Please contact Nick Kaufman at groupsales@epocrates.com for more
information.
7. What mobile devices are compatible with Epocrates Essentials?
Epocrates Essentials is compatible with Apple iOS (iPhone iPad & iPod touch) and Android OS
devices.
8. Who do we contact for technical support?
If you or your students are having technical issues, our support team can help. Our support team
can be reached via e-mail at goldsupport@epocrates.com or phone at 1-800-230-2150 from
8am-6pm Monday-Friday PDT. You can also visit our website at www.epocrates.com/support for
frequently asked questions and other support-related information. When you contact our
customer support team, tell them you are part of the Free Essentials for Medical Students
Program.
9. Can you train our faculty on Epocrates Essentials so they can better instruct our students with
this product?
We will be providing webinars for schools that purchase the Epocrates EDU program. The
webinars will include a product features and benefits summary as well as a real-time product

10. What if the medical student already subscribes to a premium handheld Epocrates product?
The free Epocrates Essentials for Medical Students program will extend their license an
additional year.
11. When will you reissue free Epocrates Essentials licenses for next year?

We will roll out with the program promotion in Q3 of 2014 for the next year. Our Epocrates EDU
account executives will be reaching out again next year with more information.
12. What other communications will I receive from Epocrates?
Members who register with Epocrates receive a quarterly newsletter as well as highlighting
topics that may be of interest to help you in your daily work.
13. What is the Epocrates EDU promotion?
We have 2 Epocrates EDU promotions for the month of August.
1. Vote for the next Epocrates EDU School: we are inviting students and staff to vote for their
school to receive the Epocrates EDU program for free for one year. Voting will run from
12:00pm PST, August 1, 2013 until 11:59pm PST August 31, 2013. Please refer to Terms &
Conditions for more information.
2. Sign-on bonus: When you purchase the Epocrates EDU program for your school you can
earn up to an additional 3 months free when you purchase the Epocrates EDU program
during the month of August.
