Course No.
Course Title

: PEAB ZC314
: Power Plant Engineering

Course Description
Classification of power plant, component and layout of thermal, nuclear, hydro power
plants, site selection of various power plants, combined cycle power plants, MHD,
economics of power generation, economics of loading power stations, load curve analysis,
load factor, diversity factor, power plant instrumentation and controls
Scope and Objective
The scope of the course will be defined by significant contemporary technological,
environmental and economic issues in power plant generation, from the standpoint of
sustainable development. The objective of the course will be technologies for power
generation and technical criteria for equipment selection with emphasis on energy efficiency
and environmental protection.
