ASSIGNMENT QUESTIONS

Instructions:
NOTE: You are required to read the following instructions carefully before you answer.

Write the Roll Number, Name and Title of the course at the beginning of your
answer of each Subject.
You should answer two questions only under each paper.
You should write the assignment separately with regard to each paper.
Assignments without Roll No. and Name will be rejected.
After writing the assignment, you should tag the assignment together, put them in a
cover and send it to the address given below.
The students are ADVICED TO KEEP A COPY OF THE ASSIGNMENTS with them
and submit it in case the University demands the same.
The assignments received after the last date will be summarily rejected. No further
extension is allowed.

ASSIGNMENT I

I. Answer all the Questions

MARKS: 5x5 = 25

1) Derive the expression for energy stored in a capacitor

2) Three resistors R1, R2 and R3 are connected in series and a supply voltage of 240 V.
If R2 = 2R1, R3 = 3R1 and the total power taken by the circuit is 480 watts. Calculate
the power in each resistor
3) Two resistors connected in parallel across a 200 volts mains takes a total current of 10
amps. The power dissipated in one of the resistors is 1200 watts. Find the value of
each resistor
4) A wheat stone bridge ABCD has resistance AB = CD = 4 , BC = 14 , DA = 8
and BD = 12 . Between A and C, a 100V battery is connected with A as positive.
Using mesh current method, find the current in 12 ohms resistor
5) Find the voltage drop in 10 resistor is shown in fig 3.14 by using Thevenin
theorem.
