MOA: Citicoline seems to increase a brain chemical called phosphatidylcholine. This brain chemical is important for brain function. Citicoline might also decrease brain tissue damage when the brain is injured. Indications: Citicoline is used for Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia, head trauma, cerebrovascular disease such as stroke, age-related memory loss, Parkinson's disease, attention deficithyperactive disorder (ADHD), and glaucoma. 2. Ciprofloxacin (ciprobay) 500mg/tab 1tab BID MOA: The bactericidal action of Ciprofloxacin results from inhibition of the enzymes topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV (both Type II topoisomerases), which are required for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. Indications: Urinary Tract Infections, Acute Uncomplicated Cystitis in Females, Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis, Lower Respiratory Tract Infections, Acute Sinusitis, Skin and Skin Structure Infections , Bone and Joint Infections, Complicated Intra-Abdominal Infections (used in combination with metronidazole), Infectious Diarrhea. 3. Valsartan + amlodipine (exforge) to 160 mg/10mg, 1 tab OD MOA: Amlodipine = Inhibits movement of calcium ions across cell membranes in systemic and coronary vascular smooth muscle. Valsartan = Antagonizes the effect of angiotensin II (vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion) by blocking the angiotensin II receptor in vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, producing decreased BP. Indications: Treating high blood pressure. It may be used alone or with other medicines. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.Amlodipine/valsartan is a calcium channel blocker and angiotensin II receptor blocker combination. It works by relaxing the blood vessels. 4. Metoprolol 50mg/tab 1 tab BID MOA: Metoprolol tartrate is a beta1-selective (cardioselective) adrenergic receptor blocker. This preferential effect is not absolute, however, and at higher plasma concentrations, Metoprolol tartrate also inhibits beta2adrenoreceptors, chiefly located in the bronchial and vascular musculature. Indications: Hypertension, Angina Pectoris, Myocardial Infarction 5. Metformin 500mg/tab 1 tab OD MOA: Metformin is an antihyperglycemic agent which improves glucose tolerance in patients with type 2 diabetes, lowering both basal and postprandial plasma glucose. Its pharmacologic mechanisms of action are different from other classes of oral antihyperglycemic agents. Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. Indications: are indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults and children with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
6. Aspirin 80mg 1tab 1tab OD
MOA: Low doses (typically 75 to 81 mg/day) are sufficient to irreversibly acetylate serine 530 of cyclooxygenase (COX)-1. This effect inhibits platelet generation of thromboxane A2, resulting in an antithrombotic effect. Intermediate doses (650 mg to 4 g/day) inhibit COX-1 and COX-2, blocking prostaglandin (PG) production, and have analgesic and antipyretic effects. Indications: Aspirin is used to treat pain, and reduce fever or inflammation. Aspirin is sometimes used to treat or prevent heart attacks, strokes, and chest pain (angina). Aspirin should be used for cardiovascular conditions only under the supervision of a doctor. 7. Omeprazole 20mg/ cap 1 cap OD pre Break fast MOA: Omeprazole belongs to a class of antisecretory compounds, the substituted benzimidazoles, that suppress gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. Because this enzyme system is regarded as the acid (proton) pump within the gastric mucosa, Omeprazole has been characterized as a gastric acid-pump inhibitor, in that it blocks the final step of acid production. Indications: omeprazole is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions caused by excess stomach acid. It is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms.Omeprazole is also used to promote healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to your esophagus caused by stomach acid). Omeprazole may also be given together with antibiotics to treat gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). 8. Atorvastatin (Lipitor) 40mg/tab 1 tab OD at HS MOA: Atorvastatin calcium is a selective, competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme that converts 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A to mevalonate, a precursor of sterols, including cholesterol. Indications: Atorvastatin is used to treat high cholesterol, and to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, or other risk factors.Atorvastatin is used in adults and children who are at least 10 years old.Atorvastatin may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide. 9. Allopurinol (allurase) 300mg/tab 1tab OD MOA: Allopurinol is a structural analogue of the natural purine base, hypoxanthine. It is an inhibitor of xanthine oxidase, the enzyme responsible for the conversion of hypoxanthine to xanthine and of xanthine to uric acid, the end product of purine metabolism in man. Indications: Allopurinol is used to treat gout or kidney stones, and to decrease levels of uric acid in people who are receiving cancer treatment. Allopurinol may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide
