Service Manual & Repair Guide

1. The Use of the software LEO Konfig, Version 3.1

Install the LEO_KONFIG.EXE and the S30c.dll provided on a disc in the same file on your hard disc. You
may install the Icon of the EXE-file on your desk top as well. The short instructions are also installed as a pdffile but in German only. Therefore the content of these instructions are translated and integrated in this
manual.
The following points 1 to 7 are referring to the LEO Config, version 3.1 from 14 November 2001and must be
followed strictly.
Prior to start with the installation, insert the battery on the LEO1 and switch off the manometer.
1. Connect LEO1-cable with the LEO1 and with K-102. Insert it at the PC-port. Be aware of the marking
on the LEO1 plug (RS 485 is closer to the battery compartment, see figure 1 below). In case the cable is
not correctly connected the communication with the manometer is not possible but will not harm it.

Figure 1: Connection of the LEO1-cable

2. Switch on the LEO1 (not in the peak-mode) with the Select button.
3. Start the LEO_Konfig.exe.
4. Choose the Com-Port.
5. Press key Lesen (Read) on the right bottom of the LEO software window (see figure 2 in chapter 2).
6. Perform the necessary settings
Details are explained in the following chapters 2 and 3.
7. Press key Schreiben (Write) on the right bottom of the LEO software window, when all the settings are
done (see figure 2 in chapter 2).

3.

Calibration procedure for DYNA Z with LEO1 manometer

3.1

Prerequisites

For the calibration of the DYNA Z instruments with the LEO1 a calibration device that meets the local
requirements and that can measure with a precision of at least 1% is necessary. For the record of the values
obtained during the calibration the respective Excel-files Certificate Record DYNA Z shall be used (see
Chapter 3.7).

3.2

Preparations

Install the calibration unit and the instrument DYNA Z first:

Equip calibration device with tensile rod and M8 tensile bolt.

Place DYNA tester to be calibrated on the device and connect. Switch on the display unit of the
calibration device and perform the zero-setting.

Subject unit to full load (refer to the display of the calibration unit) by turning the handle of the pump
clockwise, remain load for 5 minutes, release load (turn handle of pump counter clockwise back to the
stop and turn maximum one turn clockwise). Reinstall the instrument without applying any load.

Insert the battery on the LEO1 and switch off the manometer (press Select twice).
Install the LEO-software according to points 1 to 5 explained in chapter 1(if not done yet). In case the software
is already installed, connect manometer with the RS232-cable to the PC, switch on the LEO1 and start the
software.
Continue with point 6 necessary settings as explained below:

Check pressure range on the display with the one on the manometer (100 bar).
Select under Allgemein (see point 2 in chapter 2) User 1 as unit.
Set 10 for 10 minutes under Ausschalten nach (see point 3 in chapter 2).
Remove all check marks in the fields under Einheiten freischalten(see point 4 in chapter 2), so no any
unit is released. By this the value under user 1 will be shown in the display of the LEO1 and not the
hydraulic pressure of the oil in the DYNA Z- instrument (this is of no interest for us and the client).
Insert calibration values as explained in the following chapters.

3.3

Calibration in the unit kN (line 1):

3.3.1

Setting of the values for the calibration

Insert in the first line under Kundeneinheit (costumer unit, see point 5 of chapter 2) the values for kN:
- Set the check mark left to the 1.
- Set the factor 0.12500 for the DYNA Z 6 and DYNA Z 6 S,
respectively 0.26100 for the DYNA Z 16 and DYNA Z 16S.
- Set the letters C_n_u_t for kN)
(The choice of letters and numbers is limited, e. g. no k, no N).
Press the key Schreiben (write).

Dyna Z with LEO1 Manometer

Service Manual & Repair Guide

Close the window of the LEO1-software (click on x top right). Open the software again and check if the
correct values are shown in line 1.
If this is not the case repeat the procedure, i.e. set the corrected values, press the key Schreiben (write),
switch off and on again the software and check the values in line 1
In case the correct values are shown:
- Remove RS 232 cable from LEO1
- Switch to the unit Cnut in LEO1(see INFO-sheet addition to operation manual)
- Do not set the manometer to the Peak-mode
- Set the unit kN in the display of the calibration device

3.3.2

Performing of measuring series

Reset the calibration unit to zero.

Subject DYNA Z twice to 10%, 20%, 50% and 100% load according to the calibration record (increase load to
each rated load as shown on the display of the calibration unit and release shortly). Read and note down the
values (Peaks) for each load step as shown on the display of the LEO1 manometer.
The calibration record sheet like the one Proceq SA is using (see chapter 3.7 and Appendix 2) shall be used.
In case the values are not within the tolerances or are very close to the upper and/or lower limits:
- Connect the RS 232 cable to LEO1, switch off the manometer, switch off / on the software and switch on
the manometer.
- Calculate the new factor and set it (new factor = old factor multiplied by the value at 100% step displayed
on the LEO1 divided by the nominal load).
- Repeat procedure starting from line Press the key Schreiben (write) in chapter 3.3.1 on page 4/9
including performing of the measuring series (except switching to the unit Cnut in LEO1, since this is done
already).
In case the values are within the tolerances ( 2 % of the actual load) proceed with the second measuring
series in ten steps. At the end at least two complete measuring series in kN must be registered in the record
(see chapter 3.7 and Appendix2).

3.4

Setting of the units lbf, N/mm2 and psi

Connect the RS 232 cable to LEO1, switch off the manometer, switch off / on the software and switch on the
manometer
Insert in the second line under Kundeneinheit (costumer unit, see point 5 of chapter 2) the values for lbf:
- Set the check mark left to the 2.
- Calculate the factor for the display of the force in lbf. Multiply the factor obtained for the force in kN by
224.809 (in the record sheet this is done automatically).
- Set the numericals L_b_F_0 (the last one is a zero).
(The choice of numericals is limited, e. g. no l, no f).
For the pull-off testers DYNA Z 6 and DYNA Z 16 on line 3 the settings for the display of the strength on a
2
test disc diameter 50 mm in N/mm and on line 4 in psi must be installed as explained for line 1 and line 2
above.
2
For N/mm on line 3 the letters to be set are n_P_n_n. The factor for the force in kN must be divided by
1.9635 (in the record sheet this is done automatically).
For psi on line 4 the numericals to be set are P_S_J_0 (the last one is a zero). The factor for the force in kN
must be multiplied by 73.8672 (in the record sheet this is done automatically).
Additional units can be set as explained in chapter 3.5.
In case all the values in line 2 to 5 are set continue as follows:
- Press the key Schreiben (write).
- Close the window of the LEO1-software (click on x top right). Open the software again and check if the
correct values are shown in line 2.

switch off / on the software and check the values in line 2.
In case the correct values are shown:
- Remove RS 232 cable from LEO1.
- Switch to the unit LbF0 in LEO1 (see INFO-sheet addition to operation manual).
- Set the unit lbf (or Kip) in the display unit of the calibration device.
Check with the calibration device at 20%, 50% and 100% steps of the nominal load if the values of line 2 are
within the tolerances.
In case the values are not within the tolerances or are very close to the upper and/or lower limits:
- Check the factor for kN in the record sheet and if the factors in the software are set according to the one
calculated in the record sheet. Amend values, if necessary.
- Connect the RS 232 cable to LEO1, switch off the manometer, switch off / on the software and switch on
the manometer.
- Repeat procedure starting from line 3 Press the key Schreiben (write) above (except switching to the
unit LbF0 in LEO1, since this is done already).
In case the values are within the tolerances ( 2 % of the actual load) proceed with checking of the values in
lines 3, 4 and 5 as described above for line 2. Start with - Remove RS 232 cable from LEO1.
2
In the calibration device the corresponding units and if necessary, the test areas in mm must be set.
The measured and valid values of the 20%, 50% and 100% steps must be registered in the record (see
chapter 3.7 and Appendix 2).

3.5

Setting of additional units

On the pull-off testers DYNA Z 6 and DYNA Z 16 line 5 is free for an additional unit, on the extraction testers
DYNA Z 6 S and DYNA Z 1 6 S three additional units can be set in lines 3, 4 and 5 according to clients
request.
E.g. On the pull off tester in line 5 the values for the strength in psi on a test disc of diameter 100 mm may
be set. In this case the factor for the force in kN must be multiplied by 18.4668. For the display of the
strength in psi the numericals P_S_J_1 may be set.
On the extraction tester units and factors for the display of the shell friction of a specific dowel size may
be set.
2
In the calibration device the corresponding units and if necessary, the test areas in mm must be set.
The measured and valid values of the 20%, 50% and 100% steps must be registered in the record (see
chapter 3.7 and Appendix 2).

3.6

Summary of standard Calibration Values

All instruments are calibrated in the unit kN. The respective conversion factor and unit are always set in line 1.
The calibration factors in italics are theoretical ones. They are slightly different for each instrument as to verify
during the calibration.

3.7

Calibration Certificate and Calibration Record

Proceq SA has prepared calibration certificates and records. For each instrument a Excel file exists with one
folder for the record of the calibration values including the calibration factors of different units. The recorded
values are automatically inserted in the folder of the certificate. The files can also be used for the verification of
the values after new units have been set. An example each of the certificate and the record is shown in the
Appendix 1, respectively Appendix 2.
