PRT 2008 TEST 3

A new globalised age has resulted in a higher standard of living. The earth is under
pressure due to the high population's mounting demand for fuel, food and crops. Therefore
agriculture field is entering the stage of modern precision agriculture after stages of original
agriculture, traditional agriculture and mechanized agriculture. Based on a set of new high
technologies, such as information technology, organism technology and engineering
technology, precision agriculture has been become an important method for agricultural
production. Precision Agriculture presents the most innovative results emerging from
research in the field of agriculture. a new technique that boosts crop yields and reduces waste
by using satellite maps and computers to match seed, fertilizer, and crop protection soil
sampling and others. Farmers tend to use these technologies in two major ways, such as
nutrient management and yield monitoring. The concept of precision farming is The right
input, the right amount, the right time and the right place. The four precision technologies are
include computerized geographic information systems(GIS),location determination
(GPS),computer-guided controllers for variable rate application(VRA)of crop inputs and
sensing technologies for data collection and mapping.
GIS which stands for Geospatial Information Systems, functions as manage and store
all forms of geographical information within a database. The database used to retrieve,
analyse, store, and display in map form. Meanwhile, location determination (GPS), is a
satellite navigation system that monitors and stores all information on weather conditions as
long as it is an unobstructed line of sight that links to four or more GPS satellites. These
databases are also for management decisions. Variable rate technology (VRA) is
implementation of gathered information and decision. It consists of machines and system for
applying a expected rate of crop production material at a specific time in a specific location.
Sensor technology obtains information about an object without directly contacting it. Data
collected can range from a simple colour photograph to the crops emission of
electromagnetic energy. Sensor data can provide farmers real-time information regarding
their crop condition, allowing them to respond and make corrective or other management
decisions to maximize crop production.

There are many latest technologies was developed in precision agriculture in 2014.
First of all Ruggedized smartphone which withstands the harshest environments including
dust, water, rain extreme temperatures and repeated drops. This enables user to access and
record relevant information in the field eliminating the need for paper based capture of data
which then has to be re-keyed into another system.
Second is Trimbles Connected Farm dashboard is a customizable program that
displays a plethora of information specific to your farm operation. With the Connected Farm
dashboard, farmers can quickly see a snapshot view of their latest field operation as well as
key information that may impact todays activities such as rainfall, commodities, and the
days weather forecast.
Third, ISO compatible precision. The Outback MAX is now ISO compatible. The
system works seamlessly with eDriveX and features section and variable rate control within
the high-definition console. With a data plan, growers can access on-the-go weather and
market information.
The last technology in precision is Precision Planting's YieldSense .It is a new yield
monitoring system combining the 20/20 SeedSense monitor and FieldView with a new flow
sensor, elevator chain and paddle. The new flow sensor measures grain before it is released
by the paddle. The grain forms a wedge on the newly designed paddle which creates a more
accurate reading across the sensor.
Today, precision agriculture brings advancement in agriculture field is obviously.
More precise application of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers, and better control of the
dispersion of those chemicals are possible through precision agriculture, thus reducing
expenses, producing a higher yield, and creating a more environmentally friendly farm. With
precision agriculture technologies, resources will use effectively. Since the resources
themselves cannot be regenerated so it is becoming increasingly overgrown and overused,
whilst water resources are running slim and nutrient supplies becoming more expensive.
Through innovative and dynamic scientific advances in software and genetics, a new practice
of Precision Farming can be implemented to help measure, monitor and allocate the resources
for farming effectively.

Moreover, improve the quality of crop with the advancement of technology which is
focus on optimising quality of yield. Nutrient management and soil management can produce

yield of high quality. The data collected will evaluate the effects of various management
practices on yield. By managing their fields based on soil properties and putting fertilizer
where it needs to go, farmers can better manage their nutrients. By setting up exclusion
zones farmers are also able to automatically cut off the spray of fertilizer before it reaches a
critical distance from a water supply.
In addition, sprayers have sensors that sense whether plants are nutrient deprived or
not, and sensors dragged across the field show the textural variation in the soil. Collecting
timely geospatial information on soil-plant-animal requirements and prescribing and applying
site-specific treatments to increase agricultural production.

GPS-derived products used to enhance operations in their farming businesses.

Location information is collected by GPS receivers for mapping field boundaries, roads,
irrigation systems, and problem areas in crops such as weeds or disease. The accuracy of GPS
allows farmers to create farm maps with precise acreage for field areas, road locations and
distances between points of interest. More accurate positioning to map pest, insect, and weed
infestations after using crop advisors which use rugged data collection devices with GPS.
Pest problem areas in crops can be pinpointed and mapped for future management decisions
and input recommendations.

Conclusion, precision agriculture presents the most innovative results emerging from
research in the field of agriculture. Precision farming is not just another technology. It is a
game changer helping farmers to reduce costs, improve efficiency and help to fit agricultural
practices in rural landscapes.
