I would like to be considered for the position of an Engineering Practicum Intern at Google. Currently I am a pursing a
Bachelors degree in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles and expect to
graduate in 2018. With my passion in my work, willingness to learn, and collaborative skills I believe I can make a strong
contribution to Google.
While only have been exposed to Computer Science recently, I quickly fell in love with the field and explored it
independently outside the classroom. Even with my basic knowledge of JAVA, I competed at local coding competitions
such as Stanfords ProCo against experienced programmers to write the best algorithms for problems such as
manipulating data arrays simulating the optimal path for a maze. From the start, I was not afraid to dive into the field
and push my limits.
Additionally, when just starting college, I participated in my first hackathon at Berkeley. There, I quickly communicated
with strangers to create a team and attempt to create an Android app. We continued to hack through the 36 hours
learning JAVA based Android on the spot and looking into creating a server to host our database. Despite my limited
knowledge, I remained optimistic, trying to learn as much as possible; even though we had not completed our app, we
still passionately presented our technologies in during the pitch rounds.
Besides the passion and tenacity for the Computer Science field, my collaborative skills will be a great contribution to
the program. While volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club in Santa Monica, I helped a group of 3rd graders construct a
simple motorized car out of a robotics kit. Recognizing their limited skills, I remained patient and helped them learn
rather than just finish the project myself. By doing so, I was able to learn to work with people as well as help my peers
improve as well. This will greatly enhance the experiences of others in the program, as we will be working together in
our software projects.
I would be honored to discuss my qualifications in greater depth as well as the unique abilities that I can offer. Thank
you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Minh Le
