Solidarity to the hunger striker Spyro Stratouli

The comrade Spyros Stratoulis has been imprisoned since he was 17 years old. For 21 years
now he is keeping a rebellious attitude by participating into actions, hunger strikes and revolts,
but paying for his dignified course of actions with a large number of disciplinary punishments.
Throughout the years in prison he has been connected with anarchist fighters and political
battles inside the walls. In 2008, he was remanded in custody again occasioned by a wave of
insurrections in prisons, after the attack against the anarchist John Dimitrakis by the prison
guards. Now the repressive mechanism, by exploiting telephone conservations of other people,
is finding the opportunity to unfold its avenging rage by accusing him of the hypothetical
criminal organization Thessalonicas haunts. Spyros Stratoulis is deprived of his prison leaves,
which he has gained with long fights, while there is the danger his time imprisonment to be
extended indefinitely, until the holding of the trial for this case.
Under this perspective, Spyros has decided to fight against to these people, that revenge
anybody who fights, by using his body as the only mean. He has been starting a hunger strike
from 11 of November, which is still going on. His requests are the provision of new prison leaves
and the pause of non-existent prosecutions that are based on unsustained accusations.
During the hunger strike he was taken to the hospital of Larissa, at the 21st and the 35th day,
where the doctors and the staff encountered him with a hostile behavior, while the medical
tests were performed with the presence of cops and neither him nor his personal doctor were
informed about the results. Being enraged because of the above situation and contempt from
the medical system too, he is now denying any medical care as well as his subjection to further
tests. He has lost 20 kilos of his bodyweight (5/1/14).
It s medically proven that a hunger strike for a long time provokes physical weakening, some
possible damage of vital organs, decrease of spiritual clearness and mental malfunction.
The threat of the law and the violence of imprisonment are constituent principles of the
multifaceted violence that is forced by the state and capitalism against the life of repressed. A
multifaceted violence that is impossible to be hidden in our days: from the poverty and the
violent exploitation of the working power up to all that police force of oppression and from the
concentration camps for immigrants and the racism against the most vulnerable parts of society
up to the total surrender of natural environment and social needs to the altar of capitalistic
investments. Now it is the time this multifaceted violence to be faced with the interconnection,
the radicalization and the generalization of the individual resistance.
Spyros Stratoulis is being punished in an exemplary way because of his resistance against the
individualism of the penal system, his political action and his political socializing as well as his
fighting attitude against the cruel capitalistic system. He is being punished by those who
annunciate democracy and prosecute habitants in Chalcidice, who are fighting against the
mines of death, protesters and strikers against the regime of slavery that the state and the

bosses create, students who see their future to be damaged, anarchists who are led to courts
with fake accusations.
Everyone that raises his voice for the defense of Life, Dignity and Freedom can be in the
position of Spyros.
