ANNOUNCING THE NEW MODEL MD3-2060

With the new MD3-2060 Series
1 Experience BRAND NEW technology in a

familiar package

2 Take the Guess Work Out of Magnetic Particle

Inspection
3 Increase your work flow with the PLC technology

The MD3-2060 is our most versatile, powerful standard

multi-directional unit. It offers timesaving multi-directional
magnetization for detecting defects in all directions with one
cycle, or conventional two-cycle operation. It provides alternating current (AC), full wave DC (FWDC), and half wave
DC (HWDC) magnetization for surface or near-surface
flaws. It provides enough amperage for a wide range of parts.
A programmable logic controller (PLC) and a user-friendly
graphical operator interface accomplish superior control of
the units operation.

WORKING FOR A SAFER WORLD

Part 1 of a Series: Safety of Penetrant Chemicals
M
W
agnaflux is always concerned
about the safety of its employees and has an extensive Safety
Program in all its facilities. As part of
Magnaflux strategic objectives, we are
expanding our Safety Program to
assist our customers in making sure
that our products are used safely and
that information is provided regarding safety concerns associated with
their use.

Beginning with this issue, we are publishing safety-related articles and tips
and would like to ask you for subjects
that you would like us to address.
Send your questions or suggestions
to Fax number 847-657-5388 or
e-mail address NDT@magnaflux.com.
Watch for our future issues on blacklight
safety, and magnetic radiation safety.

ater, the most abundant chemical

in the universe, is considered safe
to use; however, it can become a safety hazard if not handled properly. For example, if
water is added to acid in a container, it may
cause a vigorous reaction (acid should
always be added to water and not the
reverse).
The same philosophy applies to penetrant
chemicals. Most penetrant chemicals are
safe and non-hazardous (with the exception of flammable solvents). They are
made of ingredients found in oils and
lubricants and in household/industrial
cleaners and paints. If not used properly,
however, these materials can become a safety hazard. It is necessary to know the proper handling, storage and disposal procedures before using these chemicals in order
to prevent accidents or injury. We recommend that personal protective equipment
such as safety glasses, nitrile rubber gloves
or an apron is worn when coming into
contact with the materials for an extended

period of time. It is also recommended that

adequate ventilation is provided in the area
where penetrant materials are being used.

The best source of detailed information for

safety recommendations is the Material
Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). By law,
employers are required to provide health
and safety information in the form of
MSDS to their workers. These sheets also
contain shipping, storage and disposal
information. MSDS for Magnaflux products are available to its users 24 hours a day
through the MSDS faxback service by calling 1-847-657-5037 and through our
Website at www. Magnaflux.com. For
information in case of emergency or spill,
CHEMTREC can be called at 1-800-4249300.
Safety information is also available on the
product package. Our labels provide safety
warnings, directions for use, disclosure of
ingredients and the CHEMTREC
telephone number in case of emergency.

MAGNAFLUX
EXPANDS
DISTRIBUTION

ver the years Magnaflux has

built a very successful chain of
distribution. In order to reach customers throughout the nation, we
offer our products through a broad
base of loyal and dependable distributors. These distributors seek out and
serve customers from many different
industries, making it possible for
them to obtain Magnaflux products
in a quick and efficient manner.
In order to more effectively serve our
customers, Magnaflux has expanded
the scope of our industrial distribution by offering products through
several industrial catalog houses.
Since Magnaflux users cover such a
large cross section of MRO and welding applications, it is often difficult
for the user to find a channel that fits
his procurement needs. Too help
meet these needs, our products are
available from catalog houses such as
McMaster-Carr, MSC, W. W. Grainger,
Travers Tool, Fastenal, AcklandsGrainger in Canada and GraingerMexico. As we become more
involved in the expanding Global
market, we are actively seeking to
broaden our International distribution channels as well.
At Magnaflux the customer comes
first. Our commitment is to give each
of our distributors the opportunity to
grow with us as valuable members of
our sales team. This philosophy of
service remains unchanged.
