Problem Statement
In what ways can Nitish improve his inter personal relations with Meena and Mr Alagu in his
new firm which doesnt have defined HR policies.
Is this only an interpersonal problem??

HR Policies not properly

defined

Impact on the solving the problem

Nitish can get frequent travels like the orientation in
Netherlands, project in New Zealand and Nagpur
Nitish, as mentioned in the case faced the problem with
the initial offering made by Solutions Unlimited because
he had to relocate from his hometown.
One of the initial project Nitish had to handle was to
change the image of the Solutions Unlimited from
software solutions provider to management consultancy
firm

Nitish had been predominantly from Jamshedpur while his

new firm was in Hyderabad. Case has given a mention
about regional bias of Meena and Mr Alagu
Nitish was facing the problem majorly because HR
policoes werent properly defined.

Strengths:

Better exposure due to the informal culture

Good leadership by Mr. Manish Chawla
Having a mentor as the pre-requisite
Having a mandatory orientation week for new joinees

Weakness:

Lack of pre defined HR policies

HR staff is not aware about the HR policies.
Recruitment processes, compensations not clear.

Opportunities:

By changing its image from a software solutions provider to a management consultancy

firm, there will be better opportunities.
Informal work culture and better independence allows an individual to explore better
opportunities for oneself

Threats:

Improper policies can cause troubles for both existing and future employees
A tint of organization politics can be observed in the company which can cause
problems in near future

Identifying factors:

Lack of proper role understanding in different departments

Organizational politics among employees
Informal nature of organization leading to not definite structure

Critical Factors:

Nitish was asked to work for multiple projects but Meena later insisted on not allowing
Nitish on certain projects
Nitish being the new joinee had to face problems due to improper inter personal
relations with Meena which had led to issue of organizational politics

Practical Options:

Nitish should continue working and take up Nagpur project.

Nitish should try getting into good books of Meena
Nitish should work on restructuring policies during the change of its image to a
management consulting firm

Plan Outline:
Has no connection to the problem defined
Step 1
Step 2

Proceed for finalizing Nagpur Project

Try getting into good books of Meena

In one month
two to three months

Step 3

Restructure the policies in companys new

image

In near future

Very narrowly focused problem. Then in relation to the problem the EA is not relevant. You
somehow followed the sequence but ended up with outline plan that has no relation to the
problem. Do you think top talent will go prowling around to get into good books??
