Description of Work
This work plan document covers the updating of the 2-day Implementing IBM
SmartCloud Entry on Power Systems course for internal and external audience.
This course is the follow-on of the 1SP0 Cloud Foundation on Power course.
Work Planned
This project will consist of updating the 1SP2 course materials from SmartCloud Entry
2.2 to version 2.4 of SmartCloud Entry product offering. This update will make use of the
following:
1) The updated lab environment created in the 1SP0 course update that was completed
in February of 2013.
2) Materials developed for the 1SX2 Implementing SmartCloud Entry on System x and
NGT71 IBM SmartCloud Entry Implementation in IBM PureFlex projects
3)Any available Redbook/papers and existing presentation materials

Development schedule
Development and planning work will begin on February 14th, 2013 and the project will
take approximately 37 person days to complete. This time estimate does not include the
time from reviewers or the delivery of the T3.
Based on current workloads for the development team members, it is anticipated that
the development project could be handed-over for publishing by May 3rd, 2013.
The Train-The-Trainers (T3) event will be scheduled after the development project
completion date.

Enablement (USSE) team:

infrastructure running on POWER Cloud foundation components.

- POWER technical support individuals
- POWER system administrators

Prerequisites
Students attending this course are expected to have AIX, PowerVM, IBM Systems
Director, and Storage knowledge. These skills can be obtained by attending the
following courses or gained from equivalent experience:
- IBM Training courses on AIX, PowerVM, NIM, IBM System Director, and Cloud:
Power Systems for AIX - Virtualization I: Implementing Virtualization (AN300)
IBM Systems Director 6.3 for Power Systems I: Installation and Management
(AN940)

Course Objectives
On completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Describe IBM SmartCloud Entry on Power Systems concepts and basic capabilities
- Define the architecture of the IBM SmartCloud Entry
- List the virtual infrastructures that IBM SmartCloud Entry is capable of using
- Describe the integration of an IBM Power Systems virtualization based infrastructure
with IBM SmartCloud Entry for Power Systems solution
- Define key terminology of IBM SmartCloud Entry for Power Systems and the
underlying virtual infrastructure
- Explain how to implement the IBM SmartCloud Entry for Power Systems self-service
portal on an IBM Power Systems virtualization based infrastructure
- Install and configure IBM SmartCloud Entry for Power Systems solution
- Perform selected tasks utilizing IBM SmartCloud Entry for Power Systems
self-service portal to:
Perform administrative functions
Manage virtual machines
Administer the capabilities and configuration of the IBM SmartCloud Entry for
Power Systems solution
Work with projects, workloads, billing and accounting, metering, request
lifecycle, and approval lifecycle
- List the key steps to resolve common issues found with the IBM SmartCloud Entry
for Power Systems solution

Unit 1 - IBM SmartCloud Entry on Power Systems Overview
What This Unit Is About
This unit presents an introduction and overview of the IBM SmartCloud
Entry on Power Systems solution.
Exercise 1
This exercise will introduce students to the remote lab environment and the procedures
to verify access to the system resources that have been assigned to students. Also, it
will explore and document the products and versions installed in the lab environment.

Exercise 2
In this exercise the students will install and configure the IBM SmartCloud Entry for
Power Systems onto an AIX IBM Systems Director management server.
Exercise 3
This lab introduces students to the IBM SmartCloud Entry for Power Systems Web user
interface and select commands. Students will navigate the various menu options
available, and perform limited tasks.

In this exercise the students will perform select administrative tasks on the IBM
SmartCloud Entry for Power Systems using the Web user interface and command line.

Exercise 5
In this exercise the students will deploy a virtual appliance and perform selected user
tasks using the IBM SmartCloud Entry for Power Systems Web user interface and
command line.
Exercise 6
In this exercise students will look at various log files to check for possible issues related
to IBM SmartCloud Entry for Power Systems.
