5. At 70F the working time=30 Min, Handling strength=4 Hrs, Full Cure=24 Hrs.
6. To remove uncured glue let it cure until just after it is no longer liquid, then cut and strip
off. Once glue is fully cured it is very difficult to remove. Warmer temperatures shorten
cure time, lower temps lengthen cure time.
Prepare to Bond Polyethylene, Polypropylene or UHMW by Flame Treating :
Flame Treat:
1. Fit a propane torch with a flame spreader.
2. Following the operating cautions of the propane torch, ignite the flame.
3. Observe the flame in a darkened room, noting the primary (bright blue) and secondary
(faint yellow) portions of the flame.

4. Adjust the flame so that the primary flame is contained within the spreader, and the
secondary flame is 1-1/2" beyond the spreader.
5. Treat the polyethylene to be bonded with the tip of the secondary flame by passing it

over the polyethylene in 5 gentle strokes. Total exposure to the flame should be 2-3
seconds (.5 seconds per stroke). This light exposure should not deform or melt the
polyethylene in any way.

6. Test the polyethylene for bond readiness by wetting it with water. If the water runs off
immediately, the treatment was not effective. If the water sheets-up on the surface, the
surface is ready for bonding. If unsure, compare the water's action on the treated area with
an untreated area.
7. Bond joints within 1 hour after treating. Always prepare test bonds to be certain that
flame treating is effective with your material. DO NOT FLAME-TREAT FUEL TANKS even
vapors in tank are unsafe.
Poly Tank Crack, Hole and Fitting Leak Repair:
Prior to bonding Flame treat any Poly or UHMW to be bonded per instructions above.
CAUTION:DO NOT FLAME TREAT THE SUPPLIED PATCHES! Cut patch material 2
larger in all directions than the hole or crack to be repaired. Turn off any water pressure.
Apply glue liberally to both the patch and the tank. Do not apply to one surface and expect
the glue to transfer to the other when pushed together. The glue is resistant to dripping
even on vertical surfaces so use enough to fill any uneven areas between the patch and
tank. It is OK for the glue to be very thick, it will cure to become a strong, flexible plastic. If
needed, hold the patch in place with duct tape while curing. Use an UltraWax Sheet over
the patch to push it into place and to feather the glue on the edges. UltraWax Sheets may
also be used to force glue into a crack without the use of a patch. Remove UltraWax Sheet
after glue is cured. Note: Poly or UHMW may be bonded without flame treating but the
bond is approximately 1/20th of the flame treated strength.
