1. What do you do?


What do you do for a living? / Where do you work? / What is your job?
Could you tell me something about your job? / What is your line of business?
Currently, I am studying in preparation for IELTS test. Sometimes, I am working as a
tutor to support my study and parents. In the future, I desire to become a successful
businessman. But it is still a long way to go, you know.

2. Are you working or are you a student?
Do you work or study?
Well, I am no longer a student because I have just graduated from Foreign Trade
University. Currently, I am looking for a job which is suitable for my major and studying
in preparation for IELTS at Lena culture center.
3. What did you study in university?
I majored in international business economics.

4. Why did you choose to study that?
Personally, I chose it simply because my major is very important in the modern society.
Its practical and useful in getting a job because many companies are interested in hiring
students with a background in global trade.
5. Do you like your university?
I am really proud of my university. Its the best university we have in Hanoi. Here,
students have chance to be taught by top-notch professors and access the most cuttingedge technology to research.

6. Which is the best university in your country?
That is an interesting question. In my opinion, I think that my university Foreign Trade
University is the best in Vietnam. Because, after graduating from university, the rate of
students earn well-paid jobs in multi-national corporations is quite high.

7. Do you have any regrets about your education?


What was the most regretful/ unforgettable experience in your college life?
Well, one thing that I regret very much is that I did not study hard enough to get the
IELTS certificate when I was in my third year.
8. Do you think what you have learned at college is beneficial to your future
career?
Yes, definitely. What I have achieved today owed a lot to my college study. What Ive
learned in the university is more about theory, which is the basic for my further study and
future practical work after graduation.
9. Why do you take the IELTS test?
Well, IELTS is very important for me because I want to apply for studying overseas.
Besides, having an English certificate will be a guarantee for my future job-hunting,
which means I may get a well-paid job.

10. Which subject do you think will be most useful to you after you leave
university?
Well, specifically, I suppose my English class will be the most useful since I am planning
on studying further in England. Besides, English can give me favorable condition to look
for better jobs after graduating from university with well-paid jobs in the future.

11. Which school subject do you think is most for people in adult life?
I think that every subject having to do with communication would be the most useful
when we graduate from school. Mathematics can help to improve our intelligence and
thinking ability, but English and literature as well. These subjects build our ability to
write and comprehend that we have read. Without them most people would never be able
to communicate or hold down a decent job.

12. What was your favorite subject at school? What did you like about that?

Well, actually, I used to love mathematics and spend days and nights solving difficult
exercises. But after two years, I realized that it was a subject of low practicality in real
life. Many students learning mathematics are poor. Hence, I change my major to
economics. I strongly that this subject ensures me a good living. You can do business well
if you have keen business sense, you know.

13. Who was your favorite teacher at school? (Why?)
Well, frankly speaking, I am a fan of a physics teacher at secondary school. She has a
strong personality. Thanks to her discipline and passion for teaching, I become more
interested in this subject, even though it used to be my dislike and burden years ago. I
even wished schools to remove it, but by dint of her inspiration, I find this subject quite
appealing.

14. Do you often together with your classmates after classes?
Of course, I get together with my classmates as much as I can after class. Getting together
with them really helps to relieve the pressure for me.

15. Do you enjoy your studies/ work? (What makes you say that/ Why?)
What is the most interesting aspect/ part of your studies/ work?
I love working. I am workaholic. Part of interest comes from the fact that when you are
absorbed in work and study, you can forget the real life and develop important skills. I
strongly recommend that young generation should love working, instead of playing and
wasting time on meaningless activities.

16. What do you like most about your studies?

Well, I guess in English class. Language is all about communication. So when I am able
to communicate with someone in English, I feel that I have achieved that something. I
particularly interested in our free talk sessions with foreign teachers. It gives me the
opportunity to question them about their country and cultures.
17. Is there anything you dislike about your studies / work?
Sometimes, my learning is theoretical. It takes me a long time to figure the true
connection between reality and theory. Besides, it demands a lot of concentration, so it
may drive you crazy occasionally.

18. What job would you like to do in the future?
What job do you hope to be doing in ten years time?
Definitely, I hope to become a lecturer. By being a lecturer, I pass on precious knowledge
to the next generation. Besides, it is a job of nobility and stability, which is suitable with
me. In ten years, I dig deeper into my field to sharpen my skill as I believe jack of all

19. Do you want to study anything in the future?
Is there anything youd like to study in the future?
Apart from my main field, I want to spend part of my time learning new skills.
Sometimes, by dwelling on different fields, I can discover an interesting feature related to
the main field. Perhaps, I want to learn Information Technology to see how it is related to
language. It sounds a bit funny, right?

I opt for it for a variety reasons from stability, nobility to knowledge. This job is an ideal
choice, you know. Possibly, my parents also love this job. They think that teachers are
normally able to settle down sooner.

21. Is it a difficult job/ subject?
It depends on the level of passion you nurture. I have been dreaming to become a teacher
for more than ten years, so the more I pursue it, the more I find it interesting and

Can you tell me about your study habits?
Day in day out, I am just used to the schedule of working for ten hours. I am studying,
researching and writing. It sounds like a rut, but I am workaholic and find great interest in
working, you know.
