Revised: March 1, 2012 Department/Business Unit: Estimating FLSA Classification: Exempt (Professional Exemption) Reports To: Senior Estimator General Purpose: Prepare civil cost estimates for manufacturing, construction projects, or engineering services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of construction or service. Work Schedule: 7:30 am 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 8 am 12:00 pm Friday. Responsibilities & Duties Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction supervision to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues Analyze blueprints, construction drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors Confer with engineers, designers, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to construct or sub-contract components Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors Establish and maintain tendering process, and conduct negotiations Work within company policy as outlined in the Lauren Engineers & Constructors Employee Handbook and in compliment with the LEC Human Resources Policy Manual, LEC Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules Perform other duties as assigned Required Education Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering (or similar field of study) Required Experience 2 or more years of formal estimating experience on industrial projects Required Skills/Licenses/Certifications Critical thinking Communication at multiple levels Decision making Resource management Problem solving Read, write and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions (other preferences will be given for special language skills where there is a business need) Supervisory Responsibility This position has functional supervisory responsibility over the work of others

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
The overall nature of the position is sedentary in nature requiring little physical effort and occasional light physical exertion. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions. The constant physical demands of the position are talking and hearing. The frequent physical demands of the position are sitting, standing and walking. The occasional physical demands of the position are carrying, pushing, pulling, handling, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination. Travel Requirement This position requires occasional over-the-road and air travel Required Personal Protective Equipment Employees must use hard hats, eye protection (ANSI Z87), hearing protection (where required), safety-toe protective footwear (ANSI Z41) and gloves as required by industry/construction safety standards or as deemed necessary by Company safety policy and procedure.
