Defining WIP Parameters

Trigger:

Concept

WIP parameters define modes of operation and default values affecting various Work in Process
functions. You define one set of WIP parameters per organization.

Parameters are defined in several categories. Discrete parameters set discrete manufacturing
defaults. Move Transaction parameters effect move transactions. Intraoperation Steps determine
the steps that are enabled in routings. The Outside Processing category effects outside processing
functionality. Scheduling parameters are used to include resource factors in scheduling
calculations.

In this topic, you will define parameters using the Work in Process Parameters page.

Step Action
3. The Work in Process Parameters page enables you to define default settings in
WIP for transactions.

Step Action
4. The Discrete tabbed region affects discrete manufacturing; it is the default
display.

The Default Lot Number Type parameter determines how lot numbers are
assigned to discrete jobs if you are using lot control functionality.

8. The Move Transaction tabbed region affects move transactions.

Allow Creation of New Operations parameter is used to add operations to a job

—for example, creating a new operation to track rework.

Click the Allow Creation of New Operations option.

Step Action
10. Material parameters are used for material transactions.

Include Component Yield controls if component yield is factored into

component quantities during material transactions.

Step Action
11. Lot Selection Method determines how lot controlled assembly pull and
component pull component items are selected during backflush transactions.

Click the Lot Selection Method option.
