WIP parameters define modes of operation and default values affecting various Work in Process
functions. You define one set of WIP parameters per organization.
Parameters are defined in several categories. Discrete parameters set discrete manufacturing
defaults. Move Transaction parameters effect move transactions. Intraoperation Steps determine
the steps that are enabled in routings. The Outside Processing category effects outside processing
functionality. Scheduling parameters are used to include resource factors in scheduling
calculations.
In this topic, you will define parameters using the Work in Process Parameters page.

1. Begin by navigating to the Work in Process Parameters page.

2. Click the Parameters link.

3. The Work in Process Parameters page enables you to define default settings in
WIP for transactions.

4. The Discrete tabbed region affects discrete manufacturing; it is the default
display.
The Default Lot Number Type parameter determines how lot numbers are
assigned to discrete jobs if you are using lot control functionality.
