The Apostolic Johannite Church

Initiated by the Baptist, transmitted by the

Apostle, and restored in the modern era, the
Apostolic Johannite Church enacts the
Johannite Tradition through an esoteric, Gnostic
and Christian path of spiritual understanding and
self-discovery. Ignited in community, nurtured
by individual practice, and fed by service, the
Sacred Flame of Gnosis embodied in the tradition
of the Holy Saints John, lives anew through the
work of the Apostolic Johannite Church.

What is Epiphany?
Brothers & Sisters in the Gnosis,

Parish News
Windy City Gnosis to Launch

Though a few days late, today we celebrate the Feast of the

Epiphany. Though one of the oldest Christian traditions on
record, it is no longer celebrated by all Christian churches
and celebrated differently by those that do. Yet the
commemoration of the manifestation of the Logos to the
Gentiles remains a beautiful and transformational observance
to millions around the world.

The Parish of St. John the Revelator is excited to launch a

new initiative in the Chicagoland area. Windy City Gnosis is
a lecture and discussion series designed to appeal to anyone
with an interest in Esoteric Christianity, Gnosticism, and
Mysticism. We hope this forum will appeal to those are
curious yet uncomfortable coming to a liturgy. It is free and
open to the public, though donations will be accepted.

Though the traditional story of the Epiphany calls to mind

the visit of the three Magi to the infant Christ, most of us
have also undoubtedly heard the word epiphany little e
used in another context. This more personal epiphany is at
its core still inextricably linked to the Word Made Flesh.
When used in this way, we speak of moments of sudden
revelation or enlightenment. In a sense, an epiphany is much
like, if not exactly, a moment of gnosis.

We hope to launch in either February or March. Our focus is

February, but we realize time is short and we may not be able
to pull it off. We are currently targeting the fourth Saturday
of each month at 11 AM Central Time. We are hoping to
offer a mix of live, virtual, and pre-recorded lectures /
discussions. For more info, visit WindyCityGnosis.org!

The Magi coming upon the Christ child was such a profound
moment perhaps the most profound epiphany of all. Their
lives and the life of the world would never be the same.
Tonight, as we raise the Communion cup, we remember not
only that world-altering encounter, but our own longing for
such a transformative moment. This is the path of Gnosis
after all.
May the new year be filled with wonder and epiphanies for us
all.
