FINAL EXAM December 13, 2014
Grading:

2 Exams: 25% each

Cumulative Final Exam: 40%
Homework: 15% (includes potential 5% extra credit)

Homework: Homework will be done using the WileyPLUS online system (WP), which
will be accessed directly from Blackboard. Instructions for this can be found on
Blackboard, in the WileyPLUS folder. Homework will be due once a week, and will
be due at 3:30 pm for both sections. Homework will be automatically graded by the
WP system, and your grades will then be automatically entered into the Blackboard
gradebook. Homework problems will be similar to example problems worked out in
class, and similar to corresponding problems in the textbook. A list of the homework
problems & due dates is posted on Blackboard, in the Assignments folder. You will
be able to go back to the assignments to see the solutions to the homework problems
after the due date has passed.

Exams: Two exams will be given see the schedule for dates. Exam problems will
be similar to homework problems and example problems worked out in class. A
combination of multiple choice and worked out problems will be used. No makeup
exams will be given. All exams will be closed book. A sheet of notes will be provided
for your use during the exam. No other materials and no calculators will be allowed.
Grading of worked out problems will be similar to the homework all work must be
shown, including any sketches required, equations used, and all steps in the solution
process, to receive full credit. Simply having the correct answer is not enough for full
credit, as it does not demonstrate a complete understanding of the engineering
principles involved.
Final Exam: The Final Exam in this class will be cumulative, and will be a Group
Final. This means that both sections of AE280 will take the exam at the same time, on
Saturday, December 13, from 3:30 5:30 pm. The location is TBD and will be
announced towards the end of the semester. The Final Exam will be closed book.
Notes sheets will be provided for your use during the exam. No other materials and no
calculators will be allowed. Also note that University policy states that any final exam
conflicts must be brought to my attention in writing within the first 2 weeks of
classes.
Policies:
1. You may not use cell phones, iPods, laptop computers, or any other electronic
equipment during class. If you have an emergency situation, put your phone on
vibrate, and take any calls outside in the hallway.
2. I expect you to read the text, and I also expect your full attention while in class.
Some of the material covered in class is either not covered in the text, or not covered
in as much detail as will be provided in class. In order to do the homework and the
exams, you will need material covered in class as well as material and examples in the
text.
3. It is expected that you know how to integrate and differentiate, as these skills will
be needed to do the homework and exams.
4. You will need access to and familiarity with the SDSU Blackboard website,
http://blackboard.sdsu.edu. You should plan to check it often, for homework
assignments, course announcements, your grades, and other course documents,
which will be posted on the site.
5. Only University approved excuses for absences will be approved. The schedule for
the entire semester is given on the first day of class, so students should plan
accordingly. If you wish to request an excused absence, please provide your request
to be excused in writing along with any required documentation, in advance if
possible, but absolutely no later than immediately upon your return to class.
