MAJOR GAMES
I) BASKETBALL
First three (3) Quarters: Running Time
4th Quarter (last quarter): Stop Clock
Allowable number of fouls: Maximum of five (5) fouls
Time allotted for each quarter: Ten (10) minutes
All other rules not herein stated shall follow the FIBA Rules.
II) VOLLEYBALL
Mixed (M & W): Three (3) females and three (3) males in each set.
For elimination: Two (2) out of three (3) sets.
For championship: Three (3) out of five (5) sets.
Substitution: Allowed as long as the team composition will still be three (3) females and three (3)
males in each set.
All reserve players must be registered before the game starts.
MINOR GAMES
I) BADMINTON
Each team will be composed of TWO MALE and TWO FEMALE players. However,
each team may place TWO additional players (1 male, 1 female) as reserve players.
Double Elimination Tournament
35 POINTS per game/set with change sides at the 18th point marker
TEAM-TIED EVENT WITH 3 GAMES/SETS (MENS DOUBLES, LADIES
DOUBLES and a deciding game of MIX DOUBLES in case of a tie), best of 2 games wins.
SUBSTITUTION is NOT ALLOWED during the whole duration of a match. However
it is allowed in between matches.
First to serve will be decided by TOSS COIN.

II) CHEERDANCE
Participants: Each team shall consist of at least fifteen (15) members including the lifters.
Mechanics:
1. The Cheer Dance Presentation must not be less than six (6) minutes nor more than ten (10)
minutes. The performance by the team beyond the time limit allotted shall merit a deduction of
one (1) point from the general average garnered for every fifteen (15) second lapse. There will be
a master timekeeper to ensure that this rule will not be violated.
2. The presentation and time limit shall be inclusive of the Ateneo yells (3 Fights & Roll Out)
and the standard clap.
3. No live instruments or drums shall be allowed.
4. Dress Code: The participants shall wear their respective year level shirts. The girls shall wear
a skirt with the colors dark blue and white and the boys shall wear dark blue jogging pants. There
is no length requirement for the skirt of the girls so long as they wear cycling shorts or bloomer
beneath the skirt. Failure to comply shall merit an automatic disqualification.
5.
Lifting Rules:
a) If the participants shall form an on-all fours pyramid routine, it shall be limited to three (3)
levels PROVIDED that the first two (2) level participants shall be on-all fours but for the
shoulder-stand lifting routine, it shall be limited to two (2) levels (one person above only).
b) Over-head lifting is not allowed. It should only be limited to chest level.

The use of party poppers is strictly prohibited, which shall also merit automatic
disqualification. However, the use of pompoms is optional.

Note:
As a courtesy to the succeeding performers the team shall immediately remove all effects
used as props from the court and leave it in the condition it was in when they took the
floor (clean the court)
The USB (not merely the audio file) to be used for the presentation must be given on or
before February 3, 2015 at 4:30pm to Mr. Paul Jordan Berguia. Failure to submit audio
file on the deadline shall result a five (5) point deduction.
Each team must submit a 2-minute video/pictorial presentation of their batch also on or
before February 3, 2015 at 4:30pm to Mr. Paul Jordan Berguia. Such video/pictorial
will be played before they perform on the day of the event. Failure to submit a
video/pictorial presentation does not merit disqualification. It is for mere convenience.

If in the event that two (2) or more teams are tied, all the aggregate scores of those tied shall be
added together then divided by the number of teams tied.
If no year level reaches the threshold (50% of its total year-level population), no additional
points shall be awarded.
Only those who have registered shall be considered as included in the percentage in relation to
the total enrolled population of the year level. The organizers shall have the sole authority to
determine whether or not the year level has satisfied the percentage requirement abovementioned.
This shall in no case affect the winners of the race proper. This is an additional incentive for the
year level with the most number of participants who registered and joined the race.

V) TABLE TENNIS
Game is up to eleven (11) points. First player who scores eleven (11) points wins the game. If
both players score ten (10) points (deuce), the first player to gain a 2-point lead wins.
The right to choose the initial order of serving, receiving and ends shall be decided by a tossing
of coin and the winner may choose to serve or to receive first or to start at a particular end.
Time outs shall be allowed with a maximum of two (2) minutes per tie out. Each player is
entitled to three (3) time outs per game.
There will be two (2) matches: Men's and Women's. Each match will be the best of five (5)
games. The team who wins three (3) games wins the match.
The team/year level who wins in both matches (men's and women's) wins.
In case of a tie, Team A wins in the men's match and Team B wins in the women's' match, each
team will choose their player who will play the tie breaker match. There will be no classification
as to gender for the tie breaker match.
All other rules not herein stated shall follow the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)
Rules.

Each year level shall have one (1) team consisting of one (1) male and one (1)
Mechanics:
a) The winner in both matches will face each other in the championship.
b) The non-winners in both matches will face each other for the third and fourth place.
c) In case of a player's injury, substitution shall be allowed during the match.
d) Players shall only use their bare hands (no gloves and the like can be used in the game). The
match shall be proceeded against with the clasped-hand method by the players.
e) The elbows of the participants must be in contact with the table at all times. A participant
who raises his/her elbow shall lose the game.
f) A participant who moves his/her own chair during the game shall be disqualified.
g) General rule: Participants shall use their right arm.
h) Exception: If a participant prefers his/her left arm, he/she must ask permission first from
his/her opponent.
h) Judges' decision is final.
II) CENTI-MILLI
Participants: Each year shall have one (1) team constiting of three (3) males and three (3)
females.
Material: Rope must be uniform in length (preferably the type of rope use by Boy Scouts)
Mechanics:
a) Participants shall fall in line vertically.

V) LOBO RUN
Participants: Each team shall have five (5) players consisting of three (3) females and two (2)
males.
Materials:
a) Twelve (12) extra large balloons and eight (8) reserve balloons.
b) Masking tapes
Mechanics:
a) The team members shall assign among themselves as to who will be the 1 st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and
final player.
b) The fists of each player shall be taped to prevent the players from gripping the balloons on
each arm.
c) As soon as the game official declares the start of the game, the first player at the starting point
shall be assisted by his teammates as they place one balloon under each arm and another in
between his legs.
d) The player shall then commence to run circling the team's designated post. If any of the team's
members touches in any manner their designated post during the game, their team will be
disqualified.
e) In case a balloon falls or bursts, the player shall go back to the starting point and have the
balloons fixed and shall therefore start all over again. A replacement balloon is provided for
each team in case a balloon bursts.
f) Each team shall only be given two (2) replacement balloons, hence, when more than two (2)
balloons burst, the team shall be considered as defeated.
g) When the first player returns to the starting point, he shall be assisted by his teammates and
the second player shall be assisted in the same manner as the first player.
h) The same thing shall be done by the 3 rd, 4th and last player except that the final player shall
upon returning to the starting point burst the balloons in his possession by sitting on each of
them. The final player must burst the three (3) balloons by sitting on them.
i) The first team to complete the event wins the game.
j) The reserve balloons shall only be used in the event that one (1) of the balloons burst.
k) The reserve balloons shall be in the possession of the marshals for each year level.

Note:
The drums and amplifiers shall be provided by the council for the use of all participants.
IV) IMPERSONATION
a) Each team must have a representative or duo or group composed of 3-5 members.
b) Each team is required to impersonate the looks and moves of a musical artist or musical group
(including the types of dress or outfit they usually wear). The team will choose what artist or
group to impersonate.
c) Cross-dressing is not allowed. CROSS DRESSING is taken into context as a person
impersonating someone of the opposite gender; a transsexual or transgender.
d) The song of the singer chosen by the impersonator should be sung in lip sync manner.

ANSWERING MECHANICS
1) Each team shall use their own white board and marker.
2) Answers must be written legibly.
3) For multiple choice questions, write the CAPITAL LETTER only.
4) Wrong spelling is wrong.
5) Answers to the computation questions may be in fraction or their equivalent decimal numbers,
as the case may be. No calculators or any device shall be allowed on the person of the
representatives during the competition.
6) The teams must wait for the GO SIGNAL from the quiz master before writing their answers or
solutions.
7) All teams shall raise their boards after the bell rings. The team who fails to raise the board on
time shall not merit any point.
SCORING MECHANICS
1) The competition shall follow a point system of scoring:
a. Easy Round: 5 Points
b. Average Round: 10 points
c. Difficult Round: 15 points
2) At the end of each round, the cumulative score of each team will be computed.
3) At the end of the competition, the team with the highest cumulative score shall be declared the
CHAMPION. The next ranking teams shall be declared as the 2nd, 3rd and 4th placers
respectively.
4) Each team will get the corresponding Conflicts of Law points given by the Council.

CLINCHER ROUND
1) In case of a tie, a clincher will be asked.
2) As many questions will be asked until one team solely gets the correct answer. On this basis,
such team will be declared as the winner.
PROTESTS
1) All protests shall be referred to the Board of Judges immediately before the quiz master reads
the next question. Failure to raise the protest on time shall be deemed as waiver of such right.
2) Only official members (playing members and the reserve) of the quiz bee team shall be
allowed to raise the protest.
3) The Board of Judges shall be in complete control of the contest. They shall decide the protest
within the time provided in Number 1. Their decision shall be final in all questions and protests.
4) Any protest raised for purposes of delay will be penalized accordingly.
DISQUALIFICATIONS
1) The team who is caught cheating (in any form) shall automatically be disqualified. Such team
shall get no Conflicts of Law Point for this Event.
2) Any violation of the Mechanics shall merit the following:

c) Teams must likewise send via electronic mail a copy of each Memorial in Microsoft Word
format (.doc) on or before ____PM of ________________________. The file name must bear the
team number (Ex. 21A.doc, 21R.doc).
d) Revisions shall not be allowed once the Memorials have been submitted.
e) Delay in the submission of Memorials shall incur a penalty equivalent to ten (10) points for
every day of delay, up to a maximum of thirty (30) points.
Format of Memorials
a) All parts of the Memorial must be in Times New Roman, Size 12, with 1 line spacing and
printed on standard short bond paper (8 x 11). Quotations and footnotes shall have the same
format but with single line spacing except between separate footnotes. The Memorials should have
corresponding page numbers in the following format: Page 1 of X.
b) The Memorials must be stapled on the upper left side.
c) The Cover Page, Table of Contents, and Table of Authorities must be double-spaced.
d) The Pleadings section of each Memorial, including Conclusion/Prayer for Relief and citations,
shall not exceed 2,000 words. Words in excess of the maximum shall have a corresponding
deduction in the teams Memorial score, to wit:

The Table of Contents must list all the contents of the Memorial, including the headings
and sub-headings.
3) Index of Authorities
The Index of Authorities provides a list of the authorities cited in the Memorial, i.e., laws,
commentaries, cases, and other articles used as references.
The list must be alphabetically arranged, must include a description of each authority, and
must specify the pages in the Memorial where each authority is cited.
4) Statement of Facts
The Statement of Facts in narrative form contains the stipulations and inferences in the
Compromis. It must present the facts found in the Compromis in a form according to the teams
position without adding or distorting the facts or making unreasonable inferences therein.
5) Summary of the Pleadings
The Summary of the Pleadings provides a substantive summation of the arguments
presented in the Memorial. It should not be a reproduction of the headings and sub-headings
found therein. To be effective, it must present the arguments concisely and direct to the point
preferably in no more than two sentences.
6) Pleadings (Body of the Memorial)
This is the core of the Memorial. The Pleadings contain the arguments, position, or
standpoint of the team. It provides the law and jurisprudence on which the arguments are
founded.

3) The first counsel shall indicate at the start how long each counsel will speak and the time
allotted for the rebuttal or surrebuttal. The time of the first counsel shall begin from the entry of
appearance. The remaining time in the oral arguments, if any, may not be used to extend the time
allocated for rebuttal or surrebuttal. Neither can the time allocated for rebuttal or surrebuttal be
used to extend the time for oral arguments.
4) The rebuttal may be waived. If the Applicant waives the rebuttal, the Respondent may not
appear for surrebuttal.
5) A counsel may ask the Court for an extension before the end of his/her designated time. The
Court has the discretion to allow such request for extension.
6) There will be a timekeeper who will notify the counsels when they have:

7) Any communication at the counsel table shall be in writing to prevent disruption. The teams
must avoid any noise or inappropriate behavior which may disturb the proceedings.
8) Teams are not allowed to communicate with the audience, but only amongst themselves.
9) During the elimination rounds, team supporters are only allowed to observe the matches. The
final round will be open to everyone.
10) Participants and members of the audience are not allowed to use electronic devices such as
laptops, handheld computers, mobile phones, cameras, recorders and other similar gadgets during
the rounds.
Rebuttal and Surrebuttal
The Rebuttal shall be limited to the points raised in the Memorial and Oral Presentations.
The Surrebuttal shall be limited to the points raised in the Rebuttal. Any infraction of the
foregoing shall incur deductions of up to twenty (20) points from the total team score in the round.
The Elimination Rounds
All participating teams that have submitted their Memorials shall participate in the Oral
Rounds. The elimination rounds will be held on ________________________.

Complaint Procedure
The team must submit a written notification to the Organizers within fifteen (15) minutes
after the conclusion of the oral round if there are any violations committed. The notice must
specify clearly the violation and the parties involved. Failure to follow the procedure shall result in
the nullification of the teams complaint.
The decision on the complaint shall be final.
Judges prohibited from deducting penalties
Only the Committee shall deduct penalties from the scores of the oralists. The judges
shall score the round as if no violation was committed by the oralists.
Notice of Penalties
The Committee shall notify the teams of the Memorial penalty they incurred prior to the
Elimination Round.
The team shall likewise be notified of any Oral Round Penalties they incurred.
Other Penalties
Absence or tardiness by any of the team members in any of the activities lined up for the
duration of the Competition will result in a five (5) point deduction from the team's memorial
score, for every infraction.
INTERPRETATION OF RULES
The Ateneo Law Forensic Association shall have absolute discretion to resolve any issues
concerning the interpretation of rules.
