Please fill the OMR answer Sheet accordingly and carefully.
INSTRUCTIONS
Each Section contains (12 questions in Part-D).
Please ensure that the Question Paper you have received contains ALL THE QUESTIONS in each Section
and PAGES. If you found some mistake like missing questions or pages then contact immediately to the
Invigilator.
PART-D
1.
Q.1 to Q.12 are "Subjective" questions (whose answers are upto 4 digit) and carry 6 marks
each. There is NO NEGATIVE marking. Marks will be awarded only if correct bubbles are
filled in your OMR sheet.
2.

Indicate the correct answer for each question by filling appropriate bubble in your answer
sheet.

3.

Use of Calculator, Log Table, Slide Rule and Mobile is not allowed.

4.

The answers of the questions must be marked by shading the circle against the question by dark
HB pencil only.

NOTE: General instructions for Filling the OMR are given on the LAST PAGE.

PART-D
[SUBJECTIVE]
Q.1 to Q.12 are "Subjective" type questions. (The answer to each of the questions are upto 4 digit)
Q.1

A man hangs from the midpoint of a rope 10m long, the ends of which are tied to two light rings
which are free to move on a horizontal fixed rod (see fig.). What is the maximum possible separation
d (in cm) of the rings when the man is hanging in equilibrium, if the relevant coefficient of static
friction is 0.75?

Q.2

A small ball of mass 2g is attached to a string of length whose other end is fastened to an upright
vertical rod fixed on a wooden board resting on a horizontal table. The combined mass of the
board and rod is 1kg. The friction coefficient between the board and the table is . The ball is
released from rest with the string in a horizontal position. It hits the vertical rod in a completely
inelastic collision. While the ball swings, the board does not move.
m

What is minimum value that must have to prevent the board from moving to the left while the
ball swings down ? Using necessary approximation, express your answer as x 103 and fill
value of x in OMR sheet.
Q.3

A uniform rod AB of length 2 3 m and mass 12 kg is thrown such that just after the projection
the centre of mass of the rod moves vertically upwards with a velocity 10 m/s and at the same
time it is rotating with an angular velocity rad/s about a horizontal axis passing through its mid
point. Just after the road is thrown it is horizontal and is as shown in the figure. Find the acceleration
(in m/sec2 ) of the point A, when the centre of mass is at the highest point.

Q.4
Two blocks of mass m1 = 2 kg and m2 = 1 kg are connected by an ideal spring, rest on a rough
horizontal surface. The spring in unstretched. The spring constant of spring is 8 N/m. the coefficient
of friction between blocks and horizontal surface is = 0.8 Now the left block is imparted a
velocity u towards right as shown. The largest value of u (in m/s) such that the block of mass m2

Q.7

Two towns A and B are connected by a regular bus service with a bus leaving in either direction
every T minutes. A man cycling with speed of 20km/h in the direction A to B, notices that a bus
goes past him every t 1 = 18 minutes in the direction of motion, and every t2 = 6 minutes in the

opposite direction. If time period of Bus service is T, then find T.

Assume that velocity of cyclist is less than velocity of bus.
Q.8

In the arrangement shown in figure, there is friction between the blocks

of masses m and 2m which are in contact. The ground is smooth. The
mass of the suspended block is m. The block of mass m which is kept
on mass 2m is stationary with respect to block of mass 2 m. The force
of friction between m and 2m is

Q.11

In a circus act, a 4 kg dog is trained to jump from B cart to A cart and then immediately back to the
B cart. The carts each have a mass of 20 kg and they are initially at rest. In both cases the dog
jumps at 6 m/s relative to the cart. If the cart moves along the same line with negligible friction,
If the final magnitude of velocity of cart B with respect to the floor is X/36 fill x in your answer
sheet.
