EE Performance metrics
Leverages a centralized data repository to provide enhanced supply chain and
internal performance metrics of the entire supply chain. Provides the stakeholde
rs
with the tools needed to evaluate supply chain performance.
EE Event-based response
Provides the decision support and optimization capabilities to dynamically
respond and re-plan to alerts on a near real-time basis. It generates and provid
es
feasible actions to the users and provides information to the business on
the supply chain impact.
EE Enabled control
Builds an organization to react to changes automatically. Provides visibility of
the problems and a series of feasible solutions to the users. When the alert is
within a certain specified tolerance (cost, time, or service levels), the soluti
on
automatically re-optimizes and takes corrective action.
Figure 3.7 shows the process component view of the tracked process event notific
ation
with sub-process decomposition. Tracked process event notification is the
business object that provides operations that are used to create and send tracke
d
process event notifications for the business process, real-world objects, or log
ical
events that SAP Event Management tracks. These tracked process event notificatio
ns
contain information about the events that occur during the execution of the
business processes, the lifetime of real-world

companies with an increased number of suppliers and/or trading partners to view,

respond to, and measure the sourcing side of supply chain.
In today s business environment, both strategic and operational buyers face variou
s
business challenges:
EE Unpredictable consumer demand
Forecasting end-user demand is becoming increasingly difficult. Inaccurate
forecasts make it extremely difficult to manage the procurement of long leadtime
products.
EE Constrained supply
Companies need as much forewarning as possible to react quickly and be able
to adjust plans when a supplier is unable to meet a schedule or respond to
changing needs.
EE Obsolescence risk
Many products or parts which the companies market may have small shelf life
and fluctuating demand. To minimize the amount of obsolescence at the component
or finished goods level, organizations need to identify the slow-moving
ones, to ease or eliminate future orders.
EE Global outsourcing variability
A significant portion of the products may be built in low-cost manufacturing
locations. This increases the need for visibility of the goods availability on t
ime
for fulfilling customer orders.
4.2.1 Process Overview
The process starts with the creation of a purchase order for a planned material,
which is then followed by order acknowledgment from the supplier, confirming
the delivery date and quantity of the purchase order. Subsequently, the supplier
delivers the goods on the delivery date and sends an invoice. The process ends
with payment by the buyer for the purchase order. The business communication
is primarily between the buyer and supplier in a procurement scenario. The track
ing
of the purchase order can be at the purchase order line-item
