IMPORTANCE OF MULTIMEDIA IN ISLAMIC EDUCATION

Introduction
Islam gives such great value to knowledge and education. When the Quran began to
be revealed, the first word of its first verse was Iqra which means read. Thus,
education is the starting point of every human development. Education is a light that
shows the mankind the right direction to heave. If education fails to inculcate selfdiscipline and dedication to achieve in the minds of student, it is not totally their fault.
We as researcher play an important role in making the learning process interes- ting
and enjoyable. We have to convert education into a sport and learning process has to
create interest in the students and encourage them to stay back in the institution than to
run away from it.
Islamic Studies is a compulsory subject for all Muslim students in Pakistani educational
institutes. Islamic Studies subject aimed at producing the pakistani citizens in particular
the Muslim graduates whom have good under- standing on Islam as a way of life that
able to resolve any difficulties and challenges.
Purpose
The ulterior purpose of having this subject is to prepare Muslim students with strong
Islamic foundation before they further their studies overseas.
Understanding todays digital kids and how they learn has profound implications not
only for how lecturers teach digital students, but also, and perhaps more importantly, for
how lecturers reach them. Educational technology and multimedia can be valuable tools
when they are integrated into the curriculum appropriately to achieve learning gains,
particularly when they are combined with a twenty-first-century curriculum. The
importance of multimedia and IT in Islamic studies teaching/learning process can not be
over emphasized. This is for the fact that such technology enhance, facilitate and make
teaching/learning easy, lively and concrete.
Significance
Teaching/learning with instructional aids is not a new phenomenon in Islam, it has been
traced to the Prophet of Islam who used Instructional materials at several occasions in
the process of imparting knowledge to his followers. Islamic Studies teachers should
select or improvise suitable Instructional materials or aids to facilitate teaching/learning
and motivate their students. In Islam, the use of modern technology is encouraged as
ithelps towards the development of positive thinking, the ability to innovate and to trigger
the drive for self-improvement.
Objective
Multimedia is very helpful for the head teachers, teachers and students in learning and
betterment for the school discipline; to help the policy maker in policy making and its
implementation, to create the change in islamic teaching methodology, to refine the

teacher structure. Islamicn educational technology, the incorporation of information

technology into the learning experience, is a term that continues to evolve alongside
technological advancements in the field.
My point of view is using multimedia in islamic studies teaching/ learning process is a
contemporary need of today and by doing this we can effeciently deliver islamic
knowledge among students.
