GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
TAKE THE SAMPLES ALWAYS FROM SAME PLACE AND LEAVE A FEW SECONDS TO DRAIN TO COLLECT A VALID SAMPLE.(FILTER IF TOO CLOUDY)
(BOILER: FROM MID OR BOTTOM - CONDENSATE: FROM HOTWELL, INSPECTION TK OR CONDENSER- COOLING: FROM RUNNING CIRCUIT.NOT FROM TK!)
COOL DOWN THE SAMPLES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND TEST IN THE NEXT 15-30 MINUTES, SAMPLES BELOW 21C !!!
USE DISTILLED WATER AS MAKE UP ONLY... USING A FEED WTR >50 PPM CHLORIDE WILL REDUCE TREATMENT EFFICIENCY DRASTICALLY.
TEST AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK AND FOR MEDDIUM PRESSURE BOILER... ANALYZE EVERYDAY
IF ANY REAGENT TABLET SHOW SPOT CONTAMINATION. THROW IT AWAY ...
ON ANY BOILER: CARRY OUT DAILY FLASH (INTENSE-FULL OPEN & BRIEF) BOTTOM BLOWDOWNS TO ELIMINATE SOLIDS PRECIPITATED BY CHEMICALS
THE TEMPERATURE OF HOTWELL TANK SHOULD BE THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE(95) TO REDUCE OXYGEN ABSORPTION (BY PASS CONDENSER IF NEEDED)
SEND THE LOGS REGULARY TO UNITOR FOR A PROPER TRACKING & ADVISE
PH PAPER STRIPS SHOULD BE IMMERSED FOR 20-30 SECONDS. USE REAGENT FOR BOILER & CONDENSATE SAMPLES
PH VALUES SHOULD BE RIGHT WHEN THE CHEMICAL RESERVE IS WITHIN LIMITS. IN CASE OF EXTERNAL CONTAMINATION CAN BE LOWER
IF PH IS LOWER THAN MINIMUN AND CHEMICAL RESERVE IS OK, ADD 50 ML PER TON OF ALKALINITY CTRL TO RESTORE THE NORMAL VALUES
IN THE COMMENTS CELL: PLS WRITE DOWN WHEN THE CHEMICAL PRODUCTS RUN OUT OF STOCK. TO UNDERSTAND LOW READINGS
THERE IS NO TREATMENT FOR HIGH CHLORIDE: CHANGE THE WATER AND FILL UP WITH PURE DISTILLED IS THE ONLY SOLUTION
IN THE COMMENTS CELL, PLS ADVISE THE FOLLOWING INFO:
WHEN A SUDDEN CHANGE OF NORMAL RUNNING CONDITION (IE. DRAIN DUE TO REPAIRS,MAINTENANCE, INSPECTION, BIG LEAKS, ETC)
IF AN OIL OR SEAWATER CONTAMINATION HAPPENS
IF A BOILER IS KEPT ON LAID-UP FOR SOME WEEKS, OR WHICH ONE WORKS AS MASTER OR SLAVE
PLS MENTION WHEN A BOILER RUNS AT FULL OUTPUT (TANKERSHIPS WHEN USING STEAM CARGO PUMPS)...ADD MORE CHEMICALS THAT DAY

COOLING SYSTEMS: SPECTRAPAK 309 TEST KIT

There are -2- identical treatment products: Dieselguard NB & Rocor NB (The difference is the second one is Liquid & a little less concentrated)
Dieselguard NB...it should be diluted in a ratio 1 kg in 10 ltr of warm water before pouring into the tank
NB means Nitrite (Passivated protection layer by hard oxide) & Borate (a PH buffer to maintain alkalinity always within recommended limits)
Working range should be between 1200-2400 ppm NO2 (Nitrite)... But there is no risk when overdose...just an economical limit. If less 1.000 ppm corrosion can appear
In case of Chloride a little higher than 50 ppm cl- (maximun limit) as a temporary solution goto to 3.000 ppm NO2...water should be changed by distilled wtr asap
Do not use these chemicals to treat circuits with Aluminium compounds(ie.cylinder heads)... Use our specific treatment "CoolTreat AL" for these cases.
If you notice an abnormal chemical consumption with no leaks could be due to a bacteria contamination (eating nitrate...):Carry out a bacteria analysis (kit 568568)
LOW PRESSURE BOILERS (7 BAR) OR (16/25 BAR) WITH LESS THAN 10.000 KG/HR STEAM PRODUCTION
We call it: Combined treatment...You have -2- options.
1.- Traditional with Liquitreat & Condensate Control: SPECTRAPAK 310 TEST KIT.
Liquitreat is a one shot treatment for alkalinity reserve, oxygen scavenger, phosphate & sludge conditioner. Condensate Ctrl avoid acidity in the condensate circuit
Liquitreat concentration should be between 100-300 ppm CaCO3. Condensate Ctrl is a continuous product use 0,75 ltr per Day for a 10 ton boiler
Condensate PH should be between 8,3 & 9,0. Inject the product, into the hotwell, one meter below the wtr surface; to avoid contact with atmospheric oxygen
2.- Enviromentaly friendly range, with Autotreat & Oxygen Scavenger Plus: SPECTRAPAK 313+315 TEST KIT
Autotreat is a new generation one shot blr treatment with volatile compound...we can say it works as Liquitreat & Condensate Ctrl at a time, but has no Oxygen Scavngr.
Oxygen Scavenger Plus is a hydrazine free volatile compound of new amine called DEHA. Its should be dosed continuously (with a dosing pump):1 ltr/day +/Working range for Autotreat is like Liquitreat (100-300 ppm CaCO3). Oxygen Scavenger Plus, should be in concentration between (0.08-0.30 ppm DEHA)
LOW PRESSURE BOILERS WITH > 10.000 KG/H STEAM PRODUCTION & MEDIUM PRESSURE BOILERS:SPECTRAPAK 311/312 TEST KIT.
We call it : Co-ordinated blr treatment... You will need to use: -4- products for better and accurate parameter control
Hardness Control: A phosphate reserve will precipitate calcium hardness in a non adherent sludge. Working range between 20-50 ppm PO4.
Alkalinity Control: A concentrated alkaline reserve to prevent acid corrosion & assists the precipitation of other salts. Working range between: 100-150 ppm CaCo3.
Oxygen Control: Hydrazine compound to avoid oxygen pitting and maintain the magnetite layer. Working range between: 0.10-0.20 ppm N2H4
Oxygen Ctrl should be used continuously by metering pump around 1 ltr/day. Increase dosage(2-3 ltr/day) when the steam demand is higher (Cargo pumps running)
Alternatively Oxygen Ctrl can be replaced by Oxygen Scavenger Plus (less toxic) in a similar way. (Use 315 Spectrapak test kit for this purpose)
Condensate Control: Our neutralizing agent to avoid corrosion in the condensate lines. Best used continuously with a metering pump around 0.75 ltr/day (10 T system)
