on our society, as we do. Each one of them has its own
approach. We also have our own way to make that impact.
The AIESEC Way is not only a description of the way
(manner) we aim to make a positive impact on society, but
also describes the way (road) we are taking to achieve what
we envision.

WHAT IS AIESEC?
AIESEC is a global, non-political, independent, not-forprofit organization run by students and recent
graduates of institutions of higher education. Its
members are interested in world issues, leadership and
management. AIESEC does not discriminate on the
basis of race, colour, gender, sexual orientation, creed,
religion, nationality, ethnic or social origin.

Our international platform enables young people to
explore and develop their leadership potential for

BALAKALAKAAR 2013
Bala-kalakaar is organized with the aim of creating an opportunity for the under
privileged children of the city to discover and develop their hidden talents in the
creative areas of Art, Craft & Dance and also have fun in the process.

It is an annual social initiative taken up by the local office of AIESEC in Mumbai.


Initiated in 2009, this year it is modeled around the central idea of organizing talent
discovery workshops for overall creative development for under-privileged
children in the age group of 8-15 years.

Done primarily through workshops and training provided by esteemed


professionals in the fields of Art, Craft & Dance along with AIESECers, local youth
volunteers and 50+ international students from over 30 countries via AIESECs
Global Community Development Program.

IMPACTFUL WORKSHOPS
Talent Discovery Workshops in the field
of Art, Dance, Craft, Music and Drama
with the help of technical partners,
youth volunteers and international
interns in over 25 BMC Schools and 5
NGOs will engage, develop and impact
over 3,000 underprivileged kids in the
city of dreams.

BKK SCHOLARSHIPS
As a major step toward empowering the
under-privileged with a special skill set
required to be equally on par with their
more fortunate counterparts, we aim to
provide 100+ students with Computer
Literacy Scholarships by the end of the
event. This will further our over-all
impact.

Development
One of AIESECs core products, the GCD
Program enables young individuals to travel to
over 120 countries to volunteer for various
social initiatives in the fields of education,
health awareness, entrepreneurship, travel,
women empowerment etc. 50 interns from
over 30 countries shall be working on
Balakalakaar along with local AIESECers.

The Grand Finale - BKK 2013


The BKK Grand Finale is where AIESEC in Mumbai & its partners announce the impact of the event through a
detailed IMPACT REPORT. It will be an opportunity for child finalists to display their talent on the big stage. 100
talented children will be felicitated with exciting prizes and scholarships. The event will be attended by all
event stakeholders partners, volunteers, intl interns, 50+ NGOs, BMC School Principals and Media.

EVENT TIMELINES
Workshop Preparation

Impact Workshops

AIESEC in Mumbai along with its technical and


knowledge partners draft, design and schedule
workshops in NGOs and BMC Schools. At the same
time, Pre-Event Promotions on social media, print
media and campuses begin to create a buzz
around the event. Finally, International Interns
from over 30 countries arrive in the last week of
preparation.

Engaging and fun workshops in the areas of art,


dance, craft and drama encouraging the
participation of over 25 BMC schools and AIESEC's
partner NGO'S for the event. Each workshop will
be planned in such a way that its both easy to
learn as well as to implement for the children. The
workshops will be conducted by professionals,
volunteers, AIESECers and International Interns.

Grand Finale Preparation


AIESEC in Mumbais Balakalakaar Finale will not
only showcase a detailed Event Impact Report to
all its stakeholders but will also cater as a
networking forum for over 50 NGO and Corporate
CSR Wing Representatives, 150+ volunteers, 50+
international interns and media persons. Over 200
kids will be selected to perform and/or showcase
their talent on the big stage.
