MS. KAREN VINA ABELLANA

MYDC
Davao City
Dear Ms. Abellana:
Greetings of Peace!
Following the signing of the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro
(FAB) in October 2012, civil society organizations, academe and the
negotiating parties have initiated various activities to shed light on the
roadmap of the peace process and to provide spaces for discussions of
questions and misconceptions of affected communities and stakeholders.
Still, there are knowledge gaps and uncertainties on the FAB itself, which
have been exacerbated by delays in the roadmap. In this context, there is a
need to pursue a more focused discourse on the different controversial
issues in the peace process and to contribute to addressing the expectations
of various stakeholders.
In support of a constructive discourse on the peace process, the forumZFD
and Civil Peace Service - Bread for the World in partnership with the AlQalam Institute for Islamic Identities and Dialogue in Southeast Asia of the
Ateneo de Davao University will be holding a series of roundtable discussions
(RTD) on contentious topics in the peace process. Under the title
Pakighinabi: Peace Lens, the series of RTDs will tackle issues such as
territory, power sharing, wealth sharing, normalization, or justice system,
which are prone to misrepresentation and polarization.
Each RTD will start with a presentation of a competent resource speaker
which will be recorded on video and published online and distributed to the
host organizations' partner networks, media outlets, and other stakeholders.
The RTD itself will not be recorded to ensure a candid exchange of
information and opinions. Instead, a brief anonymized write-up will
accompany the publication of the respective video.
With this, we are honored to invite you to the second RTD among selected
participants, which will focus on power sharing. Guiamel Alim of the
Kadtuntaya Foundation, Inc. (KFI) and Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil
Society, Inc. (CBCS) will join us as lead discussant for this second
Pakighinabi: Peace Lens roundtable discussion.
We believe that your experience and competence will contribute greatly in
the understanding of the issue and the discussion of ways forward. Thank
you very much and we hope that this invitation merits your favorable
response. Should you have questions and suggestions, kindly communicate
with us through our phone number 082 221 2411 loc. 8246 or via email:
alqalam@addu.edu.ph .

The event will take place on 4 October 2013, 3PM at Room F705A, 7/F Finster
Building, Ateneo de Davao University, E. Jacinto Campus, Davao City.
Sincerely,

MANUEL DOMES
