Responsible for:

NSN and Alcatel-Lucent 3G RAN network development.

New RAN equipment introduction for different suppliers through pros and cons
analysis.
Studying new technologies; participate and contribute to define MobiNil interest in
new technologies and software features based on Orange/Orascom/Supplier
roadmaps, Report and present technical evaluation (performance, quality, added
value) and technical recommendation to support decision making.
Evaluating, testing and applying new features, those features aim to help in enhancing
network performance and capacity, enhance customers experience;
Evaluating its impact on Mobinil network upon a lab and field trials; setting an
optimum parameters template for those new introduced features.
Evaluate suppliers SW & HW roadmaps.
Introducing and validating UTRAN new software releases.
Act as a source of expertise to others in 3G planning field.

Achievements:

RAN sharing responsible for testing and validation of radio equipment sharing
between Egypt three Mobile operators Mobinil, Vodafone Egypt and Etisalat; the
project aims to:
Share our the radio part of the network between Egypt three Mobile operators
Mobinil, Vodafone Egypt and Etisalat which is called Active RAN sharing.
Enables the operator to economize network deployment and raise network
resource usage and coverage; several benefits can be achieved.
Cost Saving: The driving force for operators to share networks is the
substantial saving in CAPEX and OPEX through sharing the same UTRAN
HW between more than one operator.
Fast Deployment: RAN sharing enables a fast deployment of 3G network
through speeding up the network rollout and expanding the coverage area.
Also it could be placed in areas that it is hard to find BTS spot.
Single RAN validation and evaluation for the new equipment together with
highlighting the risks, pros and cons from using the new equipment; Single RAN
project aims to build a unified equipment for different technologies 2G, 3G and LTE,
through this technique the operator can benefit from the below advantages:
Lower the diversity in hardware requirements.
Power efficiency of new technologies will reduce network OPEX. As well as
smaller size and lower footprint.
Smooths the introduction of the future LTE technology.
Higher capacities and enhanced features.

Better performance and higher overall KPIs.

My scope was divided into two phases:
1st phase Lab phase-: this phase aims for testing and evaluation the new
equipment together with providing recommendation for field trial.
2nd phase Field trial-: this phase aims for validating and evaluating the new
equipment in live traffic scenario together with highlighting problems
countered during field pilot with mitigations done.
Vendors involved in this Single RAN evaluation were:

Member in Data Performance Enhancement Project team aiming to enhance
Mobinil internet data rates, enhance customer experience and provide the best data
rates and quality for end users.
Introduction and evaluation for NSN new 3G Radio features during the initial
phase of Mobinil 3G launch, this aims to provide various types of enhancement to the
network performance and pull down costs.
Responsible for lab & field validation and evaluation for NSN new SW release
RU20 for the whole Orange group, where our validation and acceptance will be
by the whole Orange group to start using the new release.
