Questionnaire Analysis of the music genre I will be researching

For my music magazine idea I have decided to do Caribbean music which will
include reggae, dancehall, rock steady etc. Music which I find a lot of young
people do listen to today. The age group which I am focusing on for this music
magazine is aged 15-20 because these types of music are discovered by people
in their teenage years.

For my research I printed of ten questionnaires in order to give out

to a random sample of participants around college who were willing
to give their consent in order for me to find out if gender affected
the type of genre of music you listen to or how it may affect the
types of artist that you listen to.

This
feedback showed that all the participants which I asked, have heard
about Caribbean music before and that it is not a strange genre of
music to them, this may be due to influences such as Bob Marley
who, were one of the influences who made reggae music so viral
and well-loved due to the love he put across throughout his music.

These questions were invalid towards the data collected by
the questionnaires, because not a lot of people within this
generation would necessarily purchase a music magazine,
students whom are aged 16-19. There was only one
participant who admitted to buying a music magazine;
however they did not buy a music magazine often it was
only bought if there was a prize to be won or gained from
purchasing this magazine. There are not a lot of people
purchasing magazines because there are various other ways
in which people gain information about the genre of music
and the artist which they support such as, media, TV and

internet or even free newspapers where they can get the
latest but at no extra cost. A lot of students will not buy
magazines because they feel that there are much more
important aspects to focus on such as educational
resources, maybe if magazines were cheaper and offer more
believe a lot more teenagers would be interested in buying
them more than one every so often.
8) If you do listen to Caribbean music (specifically Jamaican
music), what types of artist do you like listen to?
For this data a chart is not very useful because there were various
artistes names which were written down such as: Chronixx, Gregory
Isaacs, Beres Hammond, Vybz Kartel, Popcaan, Konshens, Bob Marley,
Busy Signal, Maxi Priest, Kranium, Demarco, Bennie Man and Mavado.
There were a lot of different names because the question was not
specific; it didnt say name one type it asked for the types of artist
which the individuals like to listen to.

Nearly everyone who filled out he questionnaires picked different artist

which inspire them to listen to Caribbean music, the most popular ones of
the group were Bob Marley which relates to reggae and Vybz Kartel which
relates to dancehall, these types of genres are well known throughout
various countries due to their popularity and the types of vibes they give
off, in order to draw the target audiences attention.

A lot of people are interested in this idea because this meant that
the magazine would be diverse in putting forward everyones needs
in various issues by finding out information the genre of music they
are interested in and the types of artist who are related to the
specific genre of music. Some participants like to listen to music
because they can relate to what the artist is singing/rapping about
which makes them feel as though more people have been through
the struggles that the individual has gone through. The more
relatable an artist music is the more people will listen to in it and
talk about it e.g. Bob Marley.
