Duties and Responsibilities as a QA/QC Welding Engineer/ Inspector
• Ensures consistent implementation and execution of welding processes and good engineering practices
across all projects handled by Cape. This covers staffing, welder training and qualification, applicable
fabrication procedures, welding documentation, PWHT execution, etc.
• Identifies, develops and executes welding related activities for improved quality and productivity.
• Provides consultation, guidance and support to Project Management Team.

Duties and Responsibilities as a Welding Engineering Supervisor
• Reports to QA Manager/ QMR.
• Supervises the work of Welding Engineers.
• Designs/ evaluates programs and schedules on Procedure Qualification Test (PQT) and Welder and
Welding Operator’s Qualification Test (WQT) activities in order to meet the project requirements in a
timely manner.
• Validates material, welder and welding procedure test results, welder and welding procedure test
approvals.
• Ensures the company keeps abreast with the latest technology and applications.
Duties and Responsibilities as a Welding Engineer
• Prepares/ reviews Welding Procedure Specification/s (WPS) and associated welding documentation.
• Maintains register of welder qualifications, WPS and Procedure Qualification Records.

as a guide to further enhance the knowledge of currently employed welders.
• Provided analysis and formulation of repair procedures for fractured components/ items (e. g. crane
assembly, weld metal overlay/ build-up) of Plant and Equipment Maintenance Group.
• Provided strict shop guidelines in the fabrication of Duplex/ Super Duplex Stainless Steels.
• Improved the passing rate (~90%) of Ferrite count and Corrosion Test samples during Duplex/ Super
Duplex Stainless Steel Welding Procedure Qualification.
• Improved the passing rate (~95%) of Ferrite Count and Hardness Tests of Duplex/ Super Duplex

• Handles Pre-Production Evaluation (PPR) system for wafer and slider qualification.
• Supervises Deep-UV (2 units) and SEM (1 unit) machines specifically intended for PPR samples.
Key Accomplishments
• Completed the machine set-up, calibration and operation of the Deep-UV Trackwidth Machine No.2.
• Increased productivity (~30%) of Overcoat and Wiping machines by improving the maintenance
program resulting to less machine downtime.
