1. Title of magazine you wish to produce

Title of my magazine will be Define as it links to independence and
freedom. It also looks clear and interesting with the font Ive chosen. Its
not too long and after a while it will be associated with the magazine
which will help in building a brand. I think it fits indie genre as it
represents freedom and gives the reader a chance to state or describe the
nature or meaning of the magazine.
2. Explanation of choice of genre
I decided to do indie/ alternative rock music magazine as these are the
genres I listen to and I know a lot about. It makes it easier to produce the
magazine for an audience Im a part of as Ill have a clear idea of what
would attract the potential reader. This genre is also very broad and has
an interesting style to it that Ill to capture in my magazine.
3. Target audience
My magazine will be targeted at males and females between ages 15-23
hover it will mostly
focus on females below 20 years old as this was
the most popular group in my questionnaire.
4. Initial ideas about front page
On my front cover Im planning to have medium close-up of 3 people, one
of them standing sideways close to the camera however Im also
considering having only one of them on the front page as it would make
fitting the cover lines around easier. The image will probably be black and
white but again it depends on how it looks in a final product. I dont want
the page to look too busy but also not too neat so Ill use about 3 cover
lines mostly at the bottom of the page and have a big band name running
across the middle of the page. Ill also include strap-line and sell line.
5. Initial ideas about contents page
My content page will be split into 3 sections to make it look organised and
also to fit the rule of thirds. Left side will have a band image, editors note
and quote from the article. The other columns consist of article names and
2 small pictures of band members. For header Contents page I will use
the same font that I used for my masthead to make it look consistent and
link to front cover.
6. Initial ideas about double page spread
On my double spread Ill have a large image covering one whole page and
a band name layered on it. The other page will be split into 2 columns with
article and also have few small images and a header. Images will be in
colour.
7. Initial ideas about photographs
For my images I want to photograph people who look like they belong in
indie genres that they catch attention of my target audience. Main image
on front cover will probably be black and white and all other ones will be in
colour. I want my models to have unconventional poses and facial
expressions because I want the images to look different and improvised as
it fits the indie genre.
