Summary

The sun is a huge source of energy. It reaches Earth in in beams of energy, radiation
that can be captured and converted into other forms of energy: electrical,
mechanical or thermal. The solar energy can be used in fields ranging from
agriculture to research
Documents and policies on solar energy.
The European Union has committed itself under the Kyoto Protocol to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions by 8% by 2008-2012. Yet in the years immediately
following the signing of the document, nothing significant has happened.
In March 2007 the European Union adopted a new policy regarding renewable
energy target setting to obtain at least 20% of EU energy needs from renewable
sources by 2020
However, due to technological innovation and development of "solar farms" cost of
production of solar energy has decreased substantially appreciating that by 2030
solar energy will represent 7% of global energy consumption.
Romania renewable energy policies:
As part of the European Union Romania assumed targets for reducing energy
consumption classical fossil fuels and increasing the use of renewable energy.
From the legal point of view Romania has an energy policy since 2001 as a result of
ratification of the Kyoto agreement. Romania's strategy in this field but only
emerged as a result of GD 443 of 10.04.2003 on the promotion of electricity
production from renewable energy sources
Community needing to support replacement of energy sources is obvious. Some
technologies, especially wind energy, but on a smaller scale hydropower, biomass
energy and solar thermal applications are viable and economically competitive. The
other, especially photovoltaic energy (panels consisting of silicon based solar
electricity generating) depend only by the volume produced and demand in the
economy.
Regarding Romania, there were identified five geographical areas, differentiated by
the energy flow recorded and rules geographical distribution of solar energy
potential shows that more than half of the country benefits from an annual average
flow of 1,000 kWh / sqm / year.
Trends this period has been initiated development of the National Strategy for
Sustainable Development - 2013-2020-2030. The strategy was approved by
Government Decision 1460/2008 and aims at achieving strategic objectives in the
short, medium and long term.
The project called "Desertec" solar project bravest of the European Union (and 12
other companies, most German Germany giving 40 billion for solar and wind energy
development and decided in 2009 to build solar plants in North Africa and the Middle

East) will cover 15% of Europe's energy needs and much of the African partner
countries.
In conclusion solar energy can heat homes passively due to their construction
(passive houses) or thermal batteries can be stored in the form of heat. Solar heat
generated can be used mainly in hot water, heat responsible for heating the
ambient temperature of the house and pool heating. There is even an air conditioner
based on solar heat, where it is mainly the energy required for cooling the air.
Using solar energy is globally the most effective way to bring warmth in homes. In
general, the amount of solar heat that falls on the roof of a house is greater than the
total energy consumed in the house.
